Lakme Absolute Illuminate & Shine Range Preview, Swatches, Prices, Buy Online

Hi guys,

I have been playing with the new Lakme Absolute Illuminate and Shine Range since the past one week.

The range has 3 new eyeliners called Lakme Absolute Precision Eye Artist, 15 shades of lipsticks called the Lakme Absolute Illuminating Lip Shimmer, 2 eyeshadow Palettes with 6 eyeshadows each in Gold and Silver i.e one with warm and daytime colors and one with cool and night time/smokey colors. And finally 10 gorgeous glitter nail paints which I believe are not out yet.

As you can notice, the whole range is about shimmer and glitter. I have 3 lipsticks and all 3 eyeliners with me, and the Gold Palette. These are already available online, so I thought of swatching them, in case you would like to buy them online, coz they are on discount on Amazon.

The eyeliner comes in this long, slender retractable packaging with a rubber grip to hold it well. It is super pigmented and with one swipe, you get the perfect, opaque color. The three shades available are Burnished Brown, Blue Sapphire and Emerald Green.

All three shades are true to its name and gorgeous. If you are not a color person, definitely get Burnished Brown!

The lipsticks I have are Tropical Shine, Pink Flash and Crimson Blink. All the shades have shimmer in them, but are super pigmented and give opaque coverage. Pink Flash doesn’t have gold or silver shimmer but self pink shimmer, hence it is not reflective.

And the palette in Gold has neutral shades from brown, nudes, taupes to olives.

This range is definitely expensive and I was not expecting such high prices :/ I absolutely love the Precision Eye Artist, they are super creamy, pigmented and amazing to work with. Definitely recommend those. In Lip Shimmers, shades like Tropical Shine, Rose Gold are very unique and pretty and perfect for weddings/brides.

L’Oreal Paris India La Vie En Rose Collection – Preview & Swatches

I know a lot has already been written about the new L’Oreal Paris La Vie En Rose Collection and you must have already seen lots of pictures on Instagram too.

Last year, L’Oreal Paris had launched the Pure Reds Collection which had beautiful reds and deep pinks and berry shades. That collection was super hit, I absolutely love the Pure Amaranthe, Pure Garnet, Pure Rouge and still mostly keep reaching for them. A year before that they had come up with the Infallible lipsticks which were again fabulous, Forever Fuchsia and Charismatic Coral being my favourites.

Now they have launched the Collection Exclusive Star Pink La Vie En Rose Range which is entirely pink, now we girls love pink, don’t we, there is a pink for every skintone in this collection. It consists of 7 Moist Mat Lipsticks, 5 L’Extraordinaire Mat Lip Colors and 3 Color Riche Nail Paints. La Vie En Rose in French literally means #LifeInPink.

So if you saw my post on the Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Gradation Swatches, you must have read that I picked the shade Mauve 1.

It comes in shaded twist up crayon form with the crayon on one side and the white sponge on the other side for blending or creating a color gradation or ombre. The pencils match to the shades and hence easily identifiable.

Pigmentation wise, these are quite pigmented and cover even the most pigmented lips in max 2 swipes. It has a super creamy and buttery formula and glides and blends easily.

The finish is matte but it is very moisturizing and not at all drying. It also feels super light on the lips, you won’t feel you have lipstick on. Staying power is ok, it stays for 4-5 hours without eating or drinking, but with whole meal it goes away from the centre and needs to be reapplied.

The full size & the shade Mauve 1

The shade Mauve 1 is not mauve but a rosy brown, more on the brown side with a hint of mauve.

Here is how it looks on me..

Overall I would say I am quite happy with this, but would have preferred a price of Rs.400/- and also the launch of more shades and the wines and burgundies too. I would recommend checking out this Mauve shade and the Coral and Orange.

Also this particular shade Mauve 1 is one of the perfect Kylie Jenner shades available in India.

Lotus Herbals EcoStay Long Lasting Lip Colour Review, Swatches

Today I am reviewing four shades out of the 10 new shades launches in the Lotus Herbals Ecostay Long Lasting Lip Colour Range.

What the Company claims: Lip colour is a preservative free, natural, long lasting and hydrating lip colour. One swip and your lips are ready for a healthier shine all day long without any loss of moisture, ensuring a flawless finish. SPF 20 gives UV Protection

How to use : Outline your lips with the lipliner.Hold the tube of lipstick to your lips and carefully apply it within the lines you drew with your lipliner. Start from the center of your lips and brush the lipstick outward, filling in all the gaps. ﾕFor a more precise application, use a lipstick brush. ﾕIf you go outside the lines of your lipliner, wipe the excess lipstick away with a tissue. ﾕLook in the mirror to make sure that you’re filling in the lines correctly. Applying lipstick without a mirror can lead to silly consequences.

These lipsticks come in a beautiful and sleek metallic pink packaging, which looks rose gold in sunlight. I absolutely love the packaging, also the lipstick click shut and are travel friendly.

They have this round bullet as in long, slender packaging lipsticks and the Lotus Herbals logo on top of the lipstick.

I am reviewing the shades Orange Lush, Rose Rush, Flirty Pink and Pink Pop.

They are a little dry in formulation and not the creamy kinds, also you need to go over the lips 2-3 times for a proper, opaque coverage. But once set, they do not budge for hours. They have a matte finish and stay for about 6-7 hours, they are not completely transfer proof but do not transfer much. They do fade a bit from the center post a complete meal though.

They do not feel heavy on the lips and also lips do not feel dry or uncomfortable. Lighter colors are less pigmented and also go a bit patchy and accentuates dry lips. When I swatched all 5-6 lipsticks together, lips were a little dry and the lighter colors accentuated that. As you can see in the lip swatches below, Orange Lush and Flirty Pink are lighter and look a little patchy and accentuates the dryness on lips.

Orange Lush is a true warm orange shade.

Rose Rush is a pink based red.

Flirty Pink is a peachy pink shade.

Pink Pop is a rosy pink, my most favourite shade of the lot.

The SPF of 20 is an added benefit. They are natural and organic and without any parabens or preservatives. The pricing is also decent for the quantity of 4.2g and the packaging.

Overall I would say, I like the packaging, price point, staying power, for the desired pigmentation you do need to go over with a few swipes. Lighter colors are less pigmented and go a bit patchy, but the darker shades i.e. Rose Rush and Pink Pop went smoother. I recommend the darker shades in this range, Pink Pop is a must try.

How to use product: Apply the shadow directly with the pencil tip onto the eye lid. Smudge the color quickly on the eye lids. Can also be used as a liner for most crease proof, stay on color

I am reviewing the shade ‘Staying Alive’ which is a gorgeous deep blackened purple shade with very fine blue shimmer. It comes in sharpenable crayon form. Both the eyeshadow and lip crayons have the same packaging with the transparent cap. I like the fact that the crayons are colored as per the shades making it easy to identify the shade. It doesn’t come with a sharpener and you need to either buy or have one of your sharpener for the thick eye crayons.

The texture is super creamy and these are very pigmented, you just need one swipe over your eyes and smudge it softly with a blending brush for the perfect 2 minute smokey eyes.

The shades Dancing Queen, Shes Got D Looks & Staying Alive are perfect for smokey eyes, either keep it soft for daytime smokey eyes by just lining thickly & smudging it with a pencil brush or go all out for night time smokey eyes by covering the lid and blending towards the crease softly with a blending brush.

It needs 1-2 minutes to set and complete your blending by then, once set, it stays put for quite a few hours. I won’t say it is completely smudge free, if you smudge your eyes a lot, it will spread a bit. But when undisturbed and eye has a primer base, it stays for a good 7-8 hours with very light fading.

The qty is half as that of lip crayons but then the qty you use for a lip product on every use is a lot more. This would stay a long time, though I don’t like the fact that a lot of product goes waste in sharpening and I prefer retractable option.

It is manufactured by Schwan Stabilo Cosmetics in Germany who make the best eye and lip products and most of the brands here get their products manufactured there.

Overall, I really like this and these are quite value for money, easy to use, convenient, travel friendly and economical. Highly recommend this. I would love if it was available in more colors though, Faces should launch more options in this.

New Medimix Ayurvedic Natural Glycerine Soap With Lakshadi Oil Review

Today I am reviewing something different, a soap. Medimix is one brand that we have all used at some point in our lives, and then we get different and new options and we forget the ‘natural’ and be lured by the fancy packaging and latest launches. Medimix has launched their new soap with natural glycerine and lakshadi oil. Lakshadi Tailam/Oil is an old ayurvedic recipe of a massage oil and it is made with a blend of different herbs like Laksha, Asvagandha, Katuka, etc.

They have also come up with this TVC which urges us to ‘Go Natural’ and it is so true!

What the Company claims: Medimix Ayurvedic Natural Glycerine With Lakshadi Oil contains a unique combination of the purest and finest grade vegetable glycerin and the time tested Ayurvedic formula of Lakshadi oil to effectively prevent dry skin.

MRP: Rs.45/- for 125g

Ingredients:

It is transparent green soap and has a slight herbal smell. Lakshadi Oil helps in a lot of ailments like fever, body ache, etc and is also used for massaging babies in some parts of India. Some of the ingredients also help in body acne or itches and rashes, them being anti – bacterial and anti – fungal.

Natural glycerine in the soap makes it perfect for the current winters, as it keeps the skin moisturized and skin does not feel dry or stretchy as with other regular soaps.

It foams well and cleans the skin well, one can also use a loofah on top of the soap foam for extra exfoliation or foaming. I love using it for my body and I also used it for my face. I don’t usually use soaps on my face as most of them are very drying for my skin but this one did not dry the skin at all.

It is vegan and cruelty free and does not contain any animal fat or derivative. It is priced very affordably at Rs.45/- and lasts long too, just don’t keep it in water.

Overall I would say Medimix is still the same, natural and herbal with glycerine, and does not dry out skin. Perfect for all year round. Definitely recommend trying this out!

It comes in this pink tube packaging with silver cap and has a nozzle dispensor. The packaging is quite bright and nice, convenient to use and travel friendly.

I have the shade Bright Angel which is the one for medium skin tones. It is nothing but a tinted moisturizer i.e. the blend of skincare plus some makeup. And has SPF25 too.

It is quite rich and needs to be set with a compact powder. Skin gets oily within an hour or so, I would not recommend it for oily skin or for use in summers.

Coverage is ok, it only evens out the skin tone and reduces the redness. It does brighten the skin a but, but does not cover dark circles or any acne spots. It stays for a good 5-6 hours but does need touch up with a compact powder. But it sure is quite moisturizing and skin doesn’t feel tight even in winters for a good few hours.

As you can see in my ‘Before-After’ pic here, it only evened out the skin and brightened it a bit, did not cover any marks or dark circles. This is just using the cream and I haven’t use any compact or anything else here.

Only 2 shades are available in this, but thankfully both are warm and yellow and will work for majority skin tones. It does oxidize a bit on the face after 2-3 hours, that might be coz of the sunscreen.

It has licorice and aloe vera extracts. Licorice is anti-inflammatory, helps in reducing redness of the skin, helps absorb ingredients better and also helps in lightening the skin. Aloe vera of course has numerous benefits, key being hydrating, moisturizing, anti-bacterial. Not a fan of licorice coz of it lightening the skin.

Pricing is ok, it’s the same as other BB/CC creams in the market and almost the same qty. Only active ingredients are mentioned on the pack, they should have mentioned a list of all ingredients for people to know what exact skincare benefit they are getting. Except licorice and aloe vera, nothing has been mentioned.

Overall I would say, if you do not have problematic skin and only need something for daily use which can provide sun protection and even out skin tone, you can try this out.

So today I am reviewing this latest launch by Maybelline India, the Baby Lips Candy Wow in Peach.

Ingredients:

It comes in this pen kind crayon twist up form. Packaging is quite cute, but also a little broader and longer if you want to carry it in your wallet or denims. I usually carry my normal Baby lips in my denim pockets, this is a bit longer to carry around easily.

This is the complete quantity and it is just 2g which will not last really long if you reapply lip balms 2-3 times a day.

Peach is a very light pale peach that will only work for fair skin tones, doesn’t work well on me. Also Peach is not that pigmented.

Orange is a light fanta orange shade

Cherry is reddish shade

Raspberry is a beautiful pink

Mixed Berry is a light purply pink

These are quite pigmented, a little more than few of the original Baby lips. Moisturising and hydrating enough, stay for 3-4 hours. It has a faint candy smell, but doesn’t last long, just for a minute or so.

And on me..

Difference between Baby Lips and Baby Lips Candy Wow:

  • Price: Baby Lips are Rs.150-175 and this is pricey at Rs.275
  • Qty: Baby lips is 4g and this is just 2g
  • Pigmentation: Baby Lips Candy Wow some shades are more pigmented than Baby Lips
  • Size: Baby lips are more travel friendly and handy
  • Packaging: Baby Lips Candy Wow look cuter with the bright crayon packaging

Overall I would say, if you need something cute and more pigmented than normal lip balms, Baby Lips Candy Wow is a perfect option. If you want something handy and value for money with good qty and affordable pricing, then stick to Baby Lips.

I have seen the swatches online and I love Raspberry and Cherry. Peach is the least pigmented. I definitely recommend checking out or buying Raspberry and Cherry, I am getting those next!

So I received this Sugar Cosmetics Matte As Hell Lip Crayon last week, I have tried their Eye Told You So Eyeliner before which was a part of Fab Bag and quite liked it. Matte Lip Crayons are all the rage right now and I am glad they have come up with these and some interesting 4 shades. I have a lot of reds and pinks in Lakme Absolute Matte Lip Tint and Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balms, so I wanted to go for either nude or wine. Since it is fall/winter already which is perfect for deep burgundy/wine/berry shades, I went with Poison Ivy which is a beautiful berry wine shade.

It comes in this black fat crayon packaging with the base matching the shade. Sadly it is not retractable and one has has to sharpen it which leads to quite a lot of product wastage. Other than that, it is quite travel friendly.

Coming to the texture, it is very, very creamy and buttery. It glides on easily on the lips but that also means it does bleed and go out of the lines easily, so one has to be careful while applying. It is very pigmented and covers the entire lip well in 2 swipes.

It is on the creamier side and not completely matte, even after some time, you won’t see or feel a complete matte finish. It is not transfer proof and transfers a lot on cups, bottles, etc.

Staying power is ok, it stays for 4-5 hours without eating or drinking, but just 2-3 hours if you eat or drink and will fade and transfer while eating or drinking.

It does feel very light and comfortable on the lips. It is quite moisturising and will work on dry lips too, quite forgiving.

Poison Ivy is a beautiful wine/berry shade and perfect for this season, definitely a unique shade and not that other brands have in this category.

Price wise it is definitely priced higher. At 800, it is more expensive than Lakme too which is priced at 650 and offers 3.5g. I have not sharpened it yet, so not sure how long this would last, the qty is reasonable.

Overall I would say I am not very happy with the staying power and transferring, though these are moisturising and light. Also these are priced higher than other brands in this category and the qty too is lesser than them. But what Sugar Cosmetics Matte As Hell Lip Crayon has, are two shades nude and wine i.e.Holly Golightly and Poison Ivy which other brands do not. So if you want a matte nude and/or wine lip crayon, I would suggest checking this out. For reds or pinks, I would suggest other brands. But if you have dry lips and are looking for matte yet creamy and moisturising lip crayon, then go for this.

Maybelline White Super Fresh Compact Powder Shell Review, FOTD

I have been using this Maybelline White Super Fresh with Pure Perlite 12 Hour Whitening + Perfecting Compact Powder (wow, that’s quite a mouthful) since the past 2-3 days and here is my review..

It comes in this white compact packaging with a mirror and a sponge. The sponge has a rubber finish on one side, so it can only be used through the one cotton side.

I have the shade Shell which is meant for medium skin tones. I am glad that it has yellow undertones, by the name ‘White’ going on the compact I was not very sure. But thankfully it matches me perfectly and does not give a whitish cast.

It has a soft floral smell which is quite pleasing. The packaging is sturdy enough and the mirror and sponge make it very travel friendly. It gives light to medium coverage which is buildable i.e one swipe will give you light coverage and going over 2-3 times will give you medium coverage. But it won’t hide your acne scars or dark circles which means you will need a separate concealer for that.

And even though I use a rich moisturiser, it does accentuate my dry patches. The powder is very finely milled and smooth but it not very creamy, though it it not very dry and powdery kinds too, somewhere in between.

Coming to the staying power and no touch up claim, it does stay put thoughout the day but I need to touch up my oily T-zone once after 5-6 hours as it gets slightly shiny. One slight touch up and I am good to go through the day. If you have dry skin, you won’t need any touch ups and if you have oily skin, one touch up and you will be sorted. It does the mattifying job amazingly well and oil does stay away from your skin through the day.

It blends seamlessly and merges with your skin tone and it actually keeps the skin looking fresh throughout the day.

The only con I would say is it doesn’t have sunscreen protection, but then we don’t rely on compact powders for sunscreen protection anyway. Also I am not sure how the other two shades are and if the darkest shade Coral is a match enough for all skin tones, but I believe 4-5 shades could have been better. I am not very pleased with the ‘Whitening’ claim too.

Here is the shade ‘Shell’ on me, I only have this compact ON and no other base..

The best part is the price and quantity, at Rs.150/- and 8g of product, it is by far one of the most economical compact powders right now.

Overall, I would say it’s a very nice budget compact and perfect for oily to combination skin. It does it’s job of keeping oil at bay very well. If you have dry skin, you will need a rich moisturiser with this. Highly recommended!
