And there are numerous other benefits of Coconut alone, much more of Henna, Amla and Lemon infused together. In monsoons, if I get wet in the rains, the first thing that gets affected is my hair. If I do not immediately oil my hair and wash them, the texture changes and I even face dandruff issues coz of the rain water. In winters, dandruff is the main issue always. I am glad the Vatika Enriched Coconut Hair oil has lemon which is what I mostly use for my dandruff, this is helping me keep dandruff at bay.

How I use it: I either keep oil in my hair overnight or do use it an hour before shampooing, and it makes a huge difference. Whenever I have oiled my hair before shampooing, the hair is super smooth and more softer with less frizz than just alone shampooing. Overnight oiling is more beneficial, but if forgot or do not like the oil on your hair overnight, at least try and use it an hour before shampooing.

It takes an extra wash to remove the oil, but then it’s so worth it. Fortunately, Dabur Vatika Enriched Coconut Oil is not that sticky and very light in texture, it would not make your look like an oil slick or give you that sticky feeling when you touch your hair.

I would say it is one stop for all your hair problems from hair breakage, split ends, greying , dandruff, etc. Use this twice a week on a continuous basis and you will definitely see a lot of improvement in your hair.

It is very economical price wise too, plus I got 20% extra 😀 I love the light smell too, it is not over powering or bothering.

Whoa, that’s quite a mouthful! I have been using this day cream and eye cream from the L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Range from quite some time, day cream being on and off, read below to know why.

Ingredients:

Both the day cream and eye cream come in this white and blue packaging, the day cream being a flat tube with a nozzle front and the eye cream being slim and round with a thin nozzle tip.

The day cream is white in color and thin and runny in texture, it spreads easily on the skin but it needs some blending as it leaves a whitish cast which looks too obvious if not blended well. The smell is not so pleasant too.

You definitely see visible brightness on the skin as soon as you apply it, but it not something permanent or that stays forever. If you read the ingredients in the image above, you see a lot of different silicones in it. Now my skin is not very sensitive and does not react easily to products but with this one, I broke out and got a lot of white heads, I had to stop using it for a few days. Then I started using it again and I broke out again 🙁 Now I have 2-3 acne scars to deal with. I am not really sure what particularly from the ingredients was triggering break outs. Coz I have used products with silicones before, maybe the combination of silicones or a particular silicone was doing it.

Till the time I used it, I can say that it does give the skin a brighter look and feel though not permanently. It is moisturising enough and there were no dry patches on the skin. I wouldn’t recommend it to sensitive skin though, for others, do give it a try if you want brighter, firmer looking skin but don’t expect permanent or long term results. You will notice a difference till the time you use it. Also, it has SPF19.

Coming to the eye cream, I love the convenient packaging and the nozzle only dispenses the required quantity. It is light yellow in color and slightly thick but easily blendable.

I target my under eye area at first, and then with some product left on the ring fingers I go over the entire eye lightly. I definitely noticed a difference in my under eye area from the time I am using it. The eye area is more moisturised, dark circles less visible and eye area is brighter. Caffeine also helps in reducing the under eye bags.

L- Eye cream, R- Day Cream

I love the eye cream and definitely recommend it, if you have dry skin and are anywhere in your late 20’s and early 30’s, it is time you start using an eye cream and invest in a good one. Even though this sounds expensive, 15g tube would last long as you need quite a tiny amount.

Overall, I would say the day cream did not work for me coz it broke me out but the eye cream is definitely worth a try!

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick Kin Review, Swatches

I have tried a few lipsticks from Illamasqua before, also the Glamore ones, see HERE and HERE. This shade ‘Kin’ is from the new Illamasqua Earth Collection.

It has the classic black Illamasqua packaging. The finish is creamy and it is quite pigmented like all other Illamasqua lipsticks, you just need one swipe with this.

The shade Kin is described as burnished red, it is like a light muted wearable berry brown shade. It instantly glams up your face and perfect for night too.

The only thing I did not like much about this lipstick in particular is the staying power, it stayed just 3-4 hours on me and that too without eating or drinking. All other Illamasqua lipsticks have always stayed longer, not sure if it is something with this particular lipstick.

It fades away evenly and easy to carry along and apply. Here it is on me..

The only con I would say is the availability and also Illamasqua lipsticks are a bit pricey. But they have such amazing pigmentation and quality, have always loved all Illamasqua lipsticks, I only wish this one stayed longer though.

Overall, I quite like this shade and the Earth collection is all about ‘Fall’ shades and browns, berries, etc. This shade ‘Kin’ is also fall appropriate. If you are looking for a wearable berry shade which is not too bright or vampy, then this would be perfect. It will work with majority skin tones.

I am so glad that brands in India are coming up with something for eyebrows which was forever ignored until now. I know so many women who make do with either black/brown eye pencil for eye brows. But now no more! We got the Fashion Brow Duo Shaper pencil by none other than Maybelline India.

I also love the fact that it is everything dual from two shade options i.e. Brown and Grey coz not every woman’s facial hair is of the same color. Brown is what usually works for everyone, but many a times brown looks stark and grey looks more natural. Try out both and what works best for you.

Powder on one side and Pencil on one

Also it has both powder and pencil in one, i.e. one side id mineral powder with a sponge tip applicator and one side is a very fine tip retractable pencil.

Now I have the ‘Brown’ one and the pencil part still looks a bit grey and is not completely brown. The pencil is a bit hard and you have to go with multiple soft strokes to define the shape. I am glad it is not creamier or too pigmented coz then it either melts off if creamy and one goes overboard if too pigmented.

L- Pencil, R- Powder

There is a very thin line between defined brows and artificial looking too much filled bushy brows! It is very easy to make out and the over-filled ones look very bad, trust me! The pencil is quite thin and perfect for defining the shape and adding just the required color. I use the pencil at the front and define the shape and then fill the outer half and the gaps with the powder side.

It stayed on me whole day with minimal fading! I quite like the Fashion Brow Pencil and also it is priced very economically, but the quantity is too less. You will finish the pencil part soon and the powder you just cannot see how much is used/left.

L- Powder, R- Pencil

I am not someone who fills eyebrows everyday or regularly. I have thick brows and I usually skip doing brows, though there are certain gaps I need to fill, but I am usually too lazy. I am glad I can now by carrying just a pencil, since it is very travel friendly too, now you can do your brows anywhere without carrying brow powder/brush, etc.

September 2015 My Envy Box Review

If you remember the previous month’s My Envy Box, it was a bomb!! It was the best My Envy Box I had ever received. So I had very high expectations from this month’s My Envy Box, did it stay upto the expectations? Read on to know..

I received September’s My Envy Box today, and I also filmed a video and edited it all today 🙂

This month’s box is a silver colored one. It has the September card and the product details card, which has a few makeup tips on the back side of the card.

 

Let’s look into the contents:

  • Za Total Hydration Fresh Foamy Cleanser 5g sample- Full size Rs.299/- for 100g
  • Davidoff Cool Water Shower Gel 75ml- Full size Rs.1800/- for 150ml
  • Catrice Ultimate Shine Lip Colour in What’s Apricot Full size- Rs.610/- for 3.5g
  • Trussardi Donna perfume vial 1.5ml

This time there is just one full sized product i.e. the lipstick, one super deluxe sized sample i.e Davidoff Cool Water Shower Gel which is half the original size and two tiny samples which I am not too happy with.

The cleansing foam is only worth Rs.299/- and not something very expensive, so a sample size of at least 20g could have been included. I don’t like perfume samples in subscription boxes or bags, though this one smells nice, but you can get such tiny samples for free at the brand counters.

Catrice Lipstick in What’s up Apricot

My Catrice lipstick was a nice, everyday n*de shade and good to pair with smokey eyes, but it has melted and broken from the base and got damaged in transit :/

Overall I would say this month’s box is pretty ok, I am not too pleased. My expectations were sky high after the super amazing box last month. I would suggest you buy it only if you like the Davidoff Cool Water and the Catrice lipstick.

The price of the lipstick i.e. Rs.610/- and the shower gel i.e. Rs.900/- is a total of 1500/- which is decent for a box worth Rs.722/- (post discount)

I hope your lipstick remains intact though 🙂

I have already shared a mini review of this in my August favourites YouTube video HERE. I have been using it since more than a month now. This is the first Dove shampoo that is in transparent, gel form. The packaging of  both the shampoo and conditioner is like the usual Dove range with a flip top cap. This one is white and blue.

Also the transparent gel like formula of the shampoo has a slight blue tint. The conditioner is white and creamy and rich like usual conditioners.

Now I have used Dove quite a lot and it has always worked for me, but many told me Dove gives them major hairfall. The only reason I see is that the Dove shampoos were always very rich and if someone has thin or fragile hear prone to breakage, the richness of the shampoo would be weighing down the hair causing breakage. I have never experienced any hairfall with any of the Dove ranges though. But this range is perfect for all of you did not like the previous ranges, coz this is very light and not that rich.

This shampoo will not weigh your hair down and will not give any hairfall. In fact I love the way it cleanses thoroughly and gives a nice bounce and volume to the hair. The conditioner is rich though but if you apply it only towards the ends, it should work. And the hair will retain the bounce.

I love the fresh smell of both the shampoo and conditioner. My hair is well behaved from the time I have been using this combination. There have been no frizz issues and I get the desired volume and bounce too with the smoothness of course.

I am happy with the price point too, and these smaller bottles are good to carry for a trip too.

Overall, I am loving this range and definitely recommend giving it a shot.

I have the shades G2 Golden Ivory and N6 Nude Honey which are like the closest match for me, G7 Golden Amber is the darkest shade and N2 Nude Vanilla is the lightest.

At first, I love the transparent and pink round packaging, it looks pretty on your table or in your bag too. The bottom base is also transparent and you have the mirror and a round, white thick sponge in the lower compartment. Now the mirror being in the lower compartment and the product on upper, it would be a bit of a struggle to take the sponge and go up and down again and again. Outside India, it had a rectangular packaging with sponge and powder on each side and mirror on the front.

L- Golden Ivory, R- Nude Honey

I am glad that the shades are all warm and suitable for Indian skin tones! Most of the products including the previous Infallible 24H Powder Foundation were a bit light and gave a strong whitish cast. Thankfully, these ones match Indian skin tones perfectly and do not look white or ghastly at all.

And SPF34 PA+++ is the highest protection I have seen in a compact powder yet! Kudos to L’Oreal Paris for adding in such high sun protection factor.

Coming to the coverage and staying power, it gives light to medium coverage which is perfect for daily use. It stays on for quite a few hours and absorbs oil and shine for almost 5-6 hours and keeps it at bay, thanks to the Volcanic Perlite Minerals. Post 5-6 hours, you notice a bit of shine but not too much, just a touch up with this and you are again sorted for few hours.

It is not very powdery or not too drying, but it is not creamy either. If you have dry patches on your face and you use this compact without using a moisturiser, then it will cling to the dry patches. But in a hour or two, it won’t feel dry coz it balances with the skin’s natural oils.

The price point of Rs.399/- is amazing!! Absolutely happy with L’Oreal Paris to keep the price low, it is one of their rare 2-3 products that are priced below Rs.500/- 😀

And coming to the shades, I have Golden Ivory and Nude Honey. Golden Ivory is slightly light for me and Nude Honey is slightly dark. But these powders oxidize a little bit during the day and hence Golden Ivory settles to match my skin.

Review: AcryGel Nail Extensions at Jean Claude Biguine

Hi guys,

I got Acrygel Nail Extensions on the 20th  of August at the Jean Claude Biguine Salon at R City Mall. So you must be aware of acrylic nails and gel nails, AcryGel is the perfect combination of both. While Acrylic powder makes the nails look very stiff and fake, gel nails are too soft and don’t stay long enough. Acrygel picks up the best of both the worlds, it is neither very soft and nor too stiff, feels exactly like natural nails and stays long too.

In India, only Jean Claude Biguine does Acrygel nails yet, of course this is very popular outside India, and I see other salons catching it up soon.

A nail technician at Jean Claude Biguine attended me and started with the service. I shared with her my concern that I have tried gel nails before and it completely ruined my nail bed, so I would go with extensions. She told me this won’t harm the nail bed.

Step 1: Nails are cut, filed, buffed and cuticles and pushed and cleaned exactly like in a normal manicure.

Step 2: She applied extensions on my nails with glue one by one. Extensions start from half the nail bed and not the cuticles.

Step 3: The extensions are cut according to the desired length, buffed and filed. I went with square shape as my nails never stay square and I wanted to see how it looks on me.

Step 4: Then a mix of acrylic powder and gel is applied on the nails and the nails are kept under the UV light. This is done twice.

Step 5: Nails are again buffed and they look seamless and exactly match your natural nails by now.

Step 6: You can select any polish you like and change it later but only make sure you use an acetone free nail polish remover.

I went with French manicure since it stays for a long time and minor chipping doesn’t affect much. It’s been 15 days today and my nails still look amazing! The French mani is still there and looks good. I think I will keep it for 5-6 more days before changing the polish.

The extensions stay for about 1-1.5 months and then you need to get them removed at the salon when nails are overgrown. My nails grow pretty fast and I kept the nails and extensions short purposely.

Overall I am super happy with my nails. I do my regular activity and stuff I do with my normal nails and there hasn’t been any issue at all. I would have definitely gone for this at the time of my wedding had I known this earlier!

I absolutely recommend Acrygel nail/nail extensions. If you are someone who just cannot grow their nails or would like to try extensions just like that, go for Acrygel ones at JCB. Also I would recommend French manicure than normal polish coz it stays forever!!

Update: 3 of my nails came off in 22 days :/ I got all of them removed yesterday i.e. the 26th day coz it was looking very uneven and bad. Also my nails have lost a layer with the glue and are very thin and brittle right now though only the front half from where the extensions started. I hope they grow quickly coz right now they are so weak that they keep bending in any activity I do and that hurts the nail bed.

Unboxing & Review: September 2015 Anniversary Fab Bag

I received the September Fab Bag today and I recorded, edited and uploaded this video all today 😀 So that you can decide whether or not to order the September Fab Bag.

This is their 3rd anniversary bag. It is a red and black glittery pouch. I am not a fan of glitter pouch as such, but it is big enough and good for travel.

Products I got in the bag:

  • Makeup Revolution Focus & Fix Liquid Concealer in Medium- Full size (Rs.550/-)
  • Kama Ayurveda Rose Water (Full size Rs.250/- for 50ml)
  • Just Herbs Rejuvenating Beauty Elixir (Full size- Rs.985/- for 15ml)
  • Skinn by Titan Celeste for Women and Raw for Men – 2ml samples (Full size- Rs.990/- for 50ml)
  • theBalm Stainiac Lip & Cheek Stain- 1.2ml sample (Full size Rs.1200/- for 8.5g)

Now I was quite excited to read ‘theBalm’ at first, but then noticed a small 1.2 ml sample and got a bit disappointed. I wanted a bigger sample, at least a deluxe one. Not very happy with the small perfume samples too, the 9-10 ml body mists are much better which I got in previous bags than this tiny 1-2 ml vials.

I love the fact that there are 3 full sized products though one is a smaller bottle i.e. the Kama Ayurveda Rose Water. I have used it before and I quite like the Kama facial sprays. I am happy with the Makeup Revolution full sized concealer too and the Just Herbs Rejuvenating Beauty Elixir. I have used such facial oils/serums before and I have always loved them, so looking forward to trying this one.

Overall, I am happy with the bag but I got a bit excited thinking it would be something very unique since it is the Anniversary issue. A deluxe sized theBalm product would have been perfect, but nonetheless it is a good bag and I recommend it. Only make sure you get the concealer in your shade match.
