The Body Shop Lily Cole Puff On Radiance Review, Swatches

The Body Shop Lily Cole Puff On Radiance Review, Swatches

What the Company claims: These magical little beads deliver shimmering colour to face and decolletage. The supersoft integrated puff is made from manmade fibres. It’s limited edition so don’t miss out. Catch it while you can.
Pink tones
Dermatologically tested
Integrated cruelty-free puff
Limited edition

How to use: Using the puff, sweep powder over face, cheeks and decolletage.

MRP: Rs. 1395/-

It comes in a super cute round packaging with a super cute puff which has bow knot on top..how cuter can it get..

There is a plastic separator between the beads and puff..the beads are in shades of gold, silver and pink..

This is quite easy to use..I have tried both the puff and brush..the puff is wider to highlight small areas like cheekbones..would work for the collar bones and decolletage..this is a little too shimmery as a highlighter for my taste..as I prefer subtle highlighters..but if you are a shimmer fan, you would love it..

When used all over the face lightly with a kabuki brush, it gives a nice pearlescent glow..which looks nice for night time parties, etc..

T-B: Pink, Golden, Silver, Combined

Pros:

1. Cute packaging.
2. Easy to use.
3. Stays well.
4. Has gold, silver, pink..so can be used individually or all together..
5. Would work great for collar bones and decolletage.
6. The qty would last ages or for generations 😀
7. Gives a pearlescent glow when used all over..

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Has parabens.
3. I am not a fan of too much shimmer for face

Overall if you love shimmery highlighters, you would love this..if you love cute packaging, then you would love this..but if you a fan of subtle highlighters, then you may give it a skip..

Sleek MakeUP i-Divine Sparkle 2 Limited Edition Review, Swatches

Sleek MakeUP has come up with their new i-Divine Sparkle 2 for Christmas..and this palette is so apt for Christmas and New Year and the parties..

MRP: £7.99

It comes in a regular Sleek rectangular black packaging with 12 shades..

This palette has 4 shimmers and 8 glitters..the shimmers are metallic finish and quite smooth..there is a gold, silver, bronze, copper..and the rest 8 are matte shades with gold/silver shimmer..

These stay on well 5-6 hours even without a primer..and more so with primer..quite pigmented..the metallic being more pigmented..there is little fall out with the matte shades and they also feel a little dry..but can be cleaned easily..comes with the usual 2 sided sponge applicator which is not of much use..

Shades: First Row

Chocolate Penny– Metallic golden copper..very smooth and quite pigmented
Blue Spruce– Matte Teal with silver shimmer..a little dry
Mulled Wine– Matte Cranberry wine with gold shimmer..more pigmented than blue spruce..
Truffle– Metallic Chocolate Brown..super pigmented and very smooth..Best shade in the palette
Mistletoe– Matte Bottle Green with gold shimmer
Illusion– Matte Deep Aubergine with silver shimmer

Second Row

Festive– Matte Deep Plum with silver shimmer..most pigmented matte with least fall out.

Glitz & Glamour– Matte Charcoal gray with silver shimmer
Tinsel– Metallic True Silver..quite pigmented.
Twinkle– Matte Navy Blue with silver shimmer..a little dry
Starry Night– Matte Black with silver shimmer..super pigmented !

This palette being perfect for Christmas is co-incidentally also the best combination of metallic and warm shades for our Asian skin tones..and perfect for the wedding season currently 😉 I surely recommend this..its a must have !

Here is an EOTD using Gold Ribbon and Mulled Wine..

My favorite shades are Chocolate Penny, Truffle, Illusion, Festive and Starry Night.

Shades available:

Black Dazzle
Gold Dazzle
Silver Dazzle
Teal Dazzle
Purple Dazzle
Grey Dazzle

MRP: Rs. 480/- for 0.28g

Its a twist up mechanical pencil..which only twists up but not down again..so one has to be very careful to not twist it up much..or else you would not be able to close the cap or squash it ruining the whole thing.

It comes in 6 colors and all have their own colored outer packaging with flowers designed on it.

If I had to review it in short…super pigmented, glides like butter, stays put the whole day, smudge free !!

Teal Dazzle is a gorgeous jewel toned teal/green..a little richer/deeper than Colorbar I Glide Jaded

Pros:

1. Super duper pigmented.
2. A gorgeous deep jewel toned green.
3. It does not smudge and stays put on my lower lash line the whole day.
4. I use it on my waterline too..and it does not sting or irritate.
5. Super soft and glides like butter..just one stroke is enough.
6. Shelf life of 3 years.

Cons:

1. As its a twist up liner, it would not go back and one has to be careful in using it…and you would never know the exact quantity.
2. It sets super fast..so neither can you use it for smokey eyes and nor is it easy correcting mistakes with this once it sets..
3. A little expensive for 0.28g

Overall I do like it coz it stays put..the only problem is it comes up thick coz of the rounded tip..but for lower lash line..I am loving it.

10 Madonna Red

It has this simple and cute matte black packaging with silver ring. It is sturdy enough. It is moisturising and has a glossy creamy texture.

Baby Peach is a light peachy pink shade..it is not a true peach but has some pinkiness to it..so it would not wash out darker skin tones..

T- Revlon Peach B- Lioele Baby Peach

I also compared it with Revlon Colorburst Peach..as you can see Revlon is a true peach and Lioele Baby Peach is a peachy pink..it is more of a MLBB shade for me..

Pros:

1. Pigmented…you need just a swipe and 2 for full coverage.
2. Moisturising..one can skip a lip balm.
3. Creamy glossy finish.
4. Baby Peach shade has a hint of pinkiness and would not wash out darker skin tones..can be a MLBB shade for many.
5. Cute simple packaging.

Prime your eyes before you apply eye shadows with our Luminous Skin Wand, Aqua Primer or Mattifying Primer to give the skin an even tone and to help the eye shadows to stay even longer.

You can blend the colour of our Long-lasting Cream Eye Shadows either with the included applicator or with our Mini Shader 005 from your lash line up to the brow bone.

To open up your eyes use a light colour under your brows and to deepen your gaze place a darker one in the crease and blend well.

  • Brocade Skipper: Blush champagne cream
  • Chiffon Ringlet: Semi-sheer satin mauvish chocolate with copper reflections

RBR Long Lasting Cream Shadows are a buttery velvety formula for a silky glide..they came in a tube type black packaging with the typical RBR white designs..It has a wand with a slight tilted sponge applicator inside..which is quite easy to use directly too..they spread and blend like butter on the eyes..

One swipe gives a sheer wash of color for daytime looks or it can be builded for night time or heavy looks..

Stays put the whole day..no creasing no fading..

Atlas Swallowtail is described as a satin wash of nude taupe with pewter reflections buildable to darker, more opaque and metallic greyish hue of the same colour…on me with 2-3 coats its almost my skin color..its like my eyes but better..with just some slight shimmer which is hardly visible..but gives a polished look to the eyes..its perfect for those ‘no makeup’ makeup looks..I am yet to try building it super intense with more layers.

Pros:

1. Buttery velvety texture.
2. Pigmented.
3. Stays put whole day without creasing or fading.
4. Super easy to use..fingers or the wand both work well.
5. Travel friendly.
6. The shade is a neutral and would work for all..on me its almost my skin color..on fairer girls it would a sheer taupe..
7. Can be used as a base for powder eye shadows.

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Available only on Zuneta or RBR web boutique.
3. Comes up quite sheer in one swipe..needs 2-3 swipes for the color to show up on me..

Overall its a great everyday neutral shade..perfect for office too..and would work great on almost all skin tones..more so on fairer girls..

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Pomegranate Punk Review, Swatches

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 30 Pomegranate Punk Review, Swatches

I had mentioned about their launch first HERE

Why You’ll Love It
24hr intensity. Tattoo tenacity. Dare to wear our longest-lasting shadow.
Our ink technology creates super-saturated color.
Cream gel smoothes on for vibrant color that does not fade.
In 8 shades.

Expert Tip

For a High impact look – Illuminate. With fingertips, sweep all over eye from inner corner and work outwards. For added drama, darken as desired.

MRP: Rs. 350/- for 4g

It is also a part of the Vivid Electra 2012 Collection..along with Emerald, Purple and few other shades..

It comes in a glass jar with black plastic caps..similar to MAC Paint Pots or MUFE Aqua Creams..the texture is quite creamy and smooth..and it is pigmented enough too..which can also be buildable..

On me it stayed a good 7-8 hours with very little fading even without a primer or base. It could have stayed longer but I have not worn it longer than that..These are compared to MAC Paint Pots and said to be quite a good dupe at this price..and I totally agree !

I am always late and running and such 2 minute cream shadows which are super easy to work with and stay all day long are a boon for a person like me 😀

Pomegranate Punk is a deep burgundy metallic plum with some golden shimmer..its a perfect shade for Indian wear ! It would go with almost all of your saris and dresses girls ! And its a great dupe for MUFE Aqua Cream #17

Here I have only used Maybelline Colossal Kajal on the lash line and outer corners and smudged with my finger. I love how it is so easy peasy to use !

Pros:

1. Quite pigmented.
2. Super easy to work with.
3. Stays for almost the whole day with very little fading.
4. 4g is a good qty at 350…its going to last a long time.
5. Best worked with fingers..so even if you do not have brushes, you can use it..and they also came with brushes in the first month…there might be some SA’s who would give you the brush alongwith.
6. Pomegranate Punk is a gorgeous shade which would suit our warm Indian skin tones and work with all Indian wear too.

Cons:

1. If powder eye shadows are used on top, they can only be layered..it is not possible to blend the powder with cream..gets a little messy.
2. Some shades like Bold Gold have too much shimmer..I would have preferred less..and I would love it if more neutral wearable matte shades are added..like all shades of browns, taupes, grays, etc.

Overall I have no complains as such..coz I love it too much ! Such easy to work cream shadows are God sent for me :p

I would recommend Pomegranate Punk and Bad to the Bronze to each and everyone !

Review: The Bankster

Review: The Bankster by Ravi Subramanian

I have always been more into non fiction..and there are very few fiction books I read or rather complete..if the first 40-50 pages hook me in, I finish it in 3-4 days and if not, I never return to it 😀

I have not read Ravi Subramanian’s previous books If God was a Banker, Devil in Pinstripes and The Incredible Banker..so I was not aware about this style of writing, etc but if he prefers to call himself the John Grishman of banking, he would be something obviously !

About the story: The uneasy calm in Greater Boston Global Bank (GB2) is shattered when a series of murders rock the façade of the compliant and conforming bank that GB2 has built up over the years. Who is to blame? Who is driving these intriguing and bone chilling murders? What is the motive behind these gruesome killings? No one has a clue.

And when Karan Panjabi, a press reporter and an ex-banker digs deeper, he realizes that he has stumbled on a global conspiracy with far reaching ramifications – a secret that could destroy not only the bank but cast a shadow on the entire nation. With only thirty-six hours at his disposal, he is running out of time and must trust no one if he wants to stay alive and uncover the truth.

In the racy build up to unraveling the mystery, stranger than fiction characters emerge, faith get shattered and ivory towers come crashing down. Bankers build their careers on trust, or so everyone thought – till the day the truth within GB2 gets revealed. Is the banker at GB2 fast turning into a Bankster? Or was he always one?

Spinning an intricate web of lies, deceit and treachery, bestselling author Ravi Subramanian is back. A master storyteller of financial crime, this is his most chilling thriller yet.

The trailer..

The book is based in three parts of the world..Angola, Kerala and Mumbai..and there are three different stories going on together..which portray the politics at world level, country level i.e India and a corporate bank level i.e GB2..and finally how at the end all three start coming together as the story unfolds and the relation between them and the whole political plot behind it..

The story starts in Angola and swiftly shifting to Kerala giving us a glimpse of diamond racketeering. Then the focus shifts onto the Head Office of Greater Boston Global Bank (GB2). A number of deaths within a short span among the employee ranks of GB2 break the calm. The seemingly normal deaths – suicide and road accident – seems just that till one person, and ex-employee turned journalist, digs deep and comes up with a theory that makes these deaths look not so random or natural. On the other hand there’s a social activist who may have more to his character than what it seems.

The plot is a multi-faceted, complicated web that manages to entangle its readers completely. There are three parallel stories going on that keep you in the loop with the complete picture yet successfully blind you from the main culprit. You will keep guessing and trying to work your way through. The story ties in a variety of industries, objects, locations and people with scoop on the banking industry, blood diamonds, social activists and what not. From murder to politics to racketeering to money laundering, this novel has it all with a top up of some very interesting characters. On one hand we have spicy characters like the present employees of Greater Boston Global Bank – Vikram, Zinaida, Tanuja and Indrani. On the other hand we have colourful characters like social activist Krishna & my favourite character – Journalist Karan.

The story is pretty fast paced and at no point does it give a chance to put down the book. There’s a sense of originality and the writing style of the author is smooth and easy to accept. It is not overly flowery or too internationalized.

There are some grammatical and punctuation errors, like a comma not there when needed and present when not required. At some places the story is stretched unnecessarily like the part about Zinaida, and the end part where Karan detects, he repeats all his findings to each and every character that adds in. Also the Angola part and Kerala part is a little confusing and ambiguous at times.

Overall a very interesting and nice read..and now after reading this I am surely picking up Ravi Subramanian’s other books ! Well this was the one I did finish in 3-4 days 😀

MRP: Rs.895/- for 10ml

The Lip and Cheek Dome is a part of the Lily Cole Cruelty Free Makeup Collection

To start with, its a super cute dome ! Does’nt looking at this makes you feel like you want it..man such a cute concept and thing..and the shape :p

It is creamy and glossy in texture..spreads gel like..and gives a sheen..I use my fingers to use it on the cheeks..as I don’t want the whole thing to touch my face..use it on lips directly..

For the cheeks I had to go about 4-5 times with it..and when I blended..it seemed to vanish..but after 15-20 minutes..it gave the most beautiful pink flush ever…those just pinched cheeks..or just out of a gym kinda flush ! I got the logic that it settles soon to a powdery finish and the color shows up later..so you need to give it some time..on my lips too..it gave a soft pink glossy lip and then settled to a matte finish in 20 mins..the soft pink stain stayed..

Pinch Me Pink is a nice soft pink..with no brown or plum or any undertone..just a true pretty pink ! The other shade Crazy for Coral, is I feel too light for our skin tones and does not show up much..

Pros:

1. A multi purpose cheek and lip product.
2. Gives the most awesome pink flush on the cheeks and a soft pink stain.
3. Travel friendly.
4. Super duper cute packaging.
5. This is going to last forever !

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Need to go about 4-5 times on the cheek.
3. Stays for 3-4 hours after which it fades off.

Overall I do love this..in fact I love all multi purpose products ! And the soft pink shade is to die for too..if you dont mind the price tag, I did surely recommend this..the coral shade would not show up much though.

M.R.P: Rs. 600/- for 2.55g

It comes in silver packaging with a pink or purple transparent cap wit criss cross pattern. The qty of 2.55g is as much as your pinky finger ! Yes, its that less..

These are super glossy and hydrating..though sheer but are buildable..the darker shades are quite pigmented..the gel formula gives a lip balm feel..so the effect is somewhere in between of a gloss and lip balm and a sheer lipstick..lighter shades stay for 2-3 hours and deeper shades stay longer leaving behind a tint.

Cotton Candy is a blue based bubble gum pink with golden shimmer..the shimmer adds to the warmth of the shade and gives some glossiness..but it is not gritty and is hardly felt. Though the shade is cool toned, it does not wash out or look pale..but in fact on me its a my lips but better but a little pinky kinds..an everyday shade for me !

Pros:

1. Super hydrating.
2. Pigmented.
3. Give a glossy finish.
4. Lighter shades stay for 2-3 hours and more deeper ones longer and leave behind a tint.
5. Available in 15 shades and all shades are super gorgeous.
6. The mango and shea butter do heal in dry lips too.
7. Nice packaging.
8. Very light on lips..you won’t feel you wearing a lipstick.

Cons:

1. The qty offered is too less and since these are to be layered as come up sheer in one swipe, if used regularly, they would finish up in 2 weeks !
2. Expensive ! For the qty, these should be priced at around Rs. 400-450/-
3. Need 3-4 swipes for pigmented lips.

Overall these are quite good..and the shades offered are awesome..you are sure to like a minimum of 3-4 out of the 15 ! There’s one for everyone..a super hydrating and glossy lipstick which feels like a lip balm.

Auravedic Ritual Cleansing Ubtan Mask Review

Auravedic Ritual Cleansing Ubtan Mask Review

What the Company claims: Prepared from a traditional formulation of natural herbs nourishes skin for smooth, radiant & glowing skin. Natural extracts of Sandal & Saffron ensure that the beauty of the skin is enhanced and nourished.

Usages: Mix with Oil or Rose water or Milk into a creamy paste. Gently massage over skin. Leave paste for a few minutes before rinsing off.

This is a part of a RITUAL range introduced for Diwali..other products are a body massage oil, hair oil and a red sandalwood soap.

MRP: Rs. 200/- for 50g

Ingredients: Red Sandalwood Powder, Ambe Haldi, Saffron, Nagamotha, Kapurkachri, Jethimadh, Ashwagandha roots, Orange Peel, Almond, Neem, Methi seeds, Basil, Bengal gram, Rose Petal powder.

As you can see it has all the natural and herbal ingredients which are good for skin..a ready made mask full of natural goodness…now no need to get red sandalwood powder, neem powder, ambe haldi, almond, saffron, etc and sit and combine them all..I am loving each and every ingredient in it.

When I first opened it, I was surprised to see it stuffed till the brim..in fact a layer above..I expected it to be half full as with other products normally..

You can mix it with rose water, oil or milk..I prefer milk..and mixed a teaspoon of it with milk and blended well..its a brown colored paste…and has a herbal smell.

It is to be massaged on the face all over and then let to sit for 5 mins..it dries quickly..unlike the packs which keep you waited 20 mins 😉

I was getting a pimple on the forehead..and after using this 2-3 times, it never grew and just settled 🙂

Pros:

1. It is super easy to use..in fact I feel if you are in a hurry..you can just take some in your palm and mix with normal water and use..I have tried and it works that way too.
2. Since it is both a scrub and mask, it exfoliates and at the same time smoothens the skin tone.
3. Skin felt baby soft after using it !
4. The neem and haldi have antiseptic properties which helps acne prone skin too.
5. Qty is huge enough for the price.
6. No parabens, SLS, preservatives. All natural stuff
7. All amazing ingredients together..its a pack full of skin goodness.

Cons:

1. Availability is an issue..currently it is only available on NaturalMantra online and at Auravedic stores.

I find no other con with it..its all natural and good for the skin. And I surely recommend it..
