Vichy Purete Thermale Spa 3 in 1 Calming Cleansing Micellar Solution (quite a mouthful) comes in this rectangular bottle packaging with a flip cap. The plastic bottle is slightly big and not very travel friendly.

I have been using this since quite some time now. It removes all of my makeup easily, especially melts the foundation and removes the lipstick in one go.

My only issue was the eye area again 🙁 Sadly how much ever I try and shut my eyes tight while removing my eye makeup, some remover seeps into the eye and the eyes start burning. Thankfully, this did not burn my eyes as much, but yes I couldn’t remove my kajal on the waterline with this too, as with other micellar waters.

Before (Worn Out Makeup) – After

The best thing is you need not wash your face, it is completely non sticky and non greasy. It is just like water, that melts all your makeup and removes it all. It is very calming and soothing and perfect for sensitive skin too.

Compared to Bioderma, this is slightly expensive. (Bioderma Sensibio is Rs.860/- fro 250ml) But both worked almost the same way for me. If you cannot get your hands on the Bioderma one or want to try something new, I would highly recommend you try this Vichy Purete Thermale Spa Micellar Solution.

Overall I would say, apart from my eye area, I loved it using on the face and it made removing makeup quite an ease. I would have preferred if it would come in smaller bottles and different variants.

Time for another update of the Gillette Venus #SubscribeToSmooth Challenge. Read more about the event and the challenge HERE and the previous update HERE.

Another round of shaving after 9-10 days, my skin is still soft and smooth. I will bust the myth ‘Shaving alters or changes skin color or makes it patchy’ today. I have been shaving my legs since quite some now and it did not at all change the color of my skin. Skin might feel a bit patchy right after shaving,if you go for dry shaving and do not moisturise it enough. If you go for wet shaving, no such issue. And the patchiness is just for a few minutes untill you apply moisturiser, even in dry shaving. It does not make your skin change its texture or color in any way.

Your skin remains the same, and in fact it is even more smoother after shaving 😀 We all love those hairless legs’ feeling, right.

Some tips for shaving correctly:

  • Go for wet shaving while having a bath, whenever you can
  • Do not soak your skin in shower for more than 1-2 minutes, before shaving, as you do not want the skin to swell up.
  • Always moisturise before the bath for a smoother shaving experience.
  • Follow up with a nice moisturiser, preferably with retinol to avoid itching and calm the skin.
  • A shaving gel will make the process easier, if you run out of it, you can use your hair conditioner to shave.
  • Use a calamine lotion if you have sensitive skin.

Gillette Venus #SubscribeToSmooth Challenge Update

Remember my Gillette Venus event and the #SubscribeToSmooth challenge I took for 30 days. Read all about it HERE

So, I shaved again after that and here is an update for you guys. The process has been so so smooth and easy plus super quick. If you read the previous post, I told you how Dr. Rashmi Shetty told us if your skin is well moisturised and then you take a shower and shave, the skin is soft and moist and you can shave in ease. But do not let the skin soak in the bath for too long as the water will plump up the skin and that may affect the smoothness of shave. Ideal time would be 1-2 minutes. I tried that method and it was super amazing.

My skin did not feel any dryness or stretched. There were no white flakes as we usually see in dry shaving or sometimes our skin itches due to that. There was no itching too this time. The Satin Shave gel makes it more softer and prevents skin from drying.

So the myth of shaving makes my skin dry and flaky is busted,right here! If you use the correct products and method, it does not. I am going to continue using this method. I love this round packaging…it opens from all sides like a flower blooming..:p The 30g tube is a medium sized one..not very small..but ya not too big..its wrapped in butter paper..and comes with 2 blenders..which are joined in a heart shape..

They claim it to be a real Blemish Balm…which actually heals blemishes and helps in preventing pigmentation…I am using it from quite some time..

A very thin layer is needed to be spread around..and as mentioned its not supposed to be blended..but just patted..It has a fruity smell which I quite liked..

You need just a little amount as it spreads around well..and covers more area..The only thing is it is gray with a hint of yellow in shade..and does leave a little whitish cast..and it does cover redness..but it would not replace your tinted moisturiser or foundation..since it would not match our skin tones..but this works great as a base too..and at times you can just top this up with a pressed powder..if you want to skip foundation.

It does leave a smooth feeling on the skin..and the foundation or tinted moisturiser also goes on better with this as a base..it also reduces the appearance of pores a little.

It gives a dewy finish at start but settles to a matte finish in a few seconds…this stays put a good 5-6 hours and does not impart any oiliness to the skin.

Pros:

1. It does cover redness and evens out the tone.
2. Works as a base for foundation or tinted moisturiser.
3. It can also be used standalone..just with a pressed powder on top.
4. No preservatives,alcohol, mineral oil or parabens.
5. Its made from natural plant extracts.
6. It does feel soothing on the skin…if your skin is acne prone..this would cover the redness and feel quite soothing.
7. Quite good for sensitive skin.
8. Its small and handy and quite travel friendly.
9. It reduces the appearance of pore size.
10. It is truly a real Blemish Balm..it does what it claims.

Cons:

1. Since its grayish in color..it does give some whitish cast.
2. Expensive.
3. Availability is an issue..its only available on WishTrend as of now.You can buy it here
4. Single universal shade.

Overall I quite like this Blemish Balm. It feels soothing, works as a great base too and reduces the appearance of pores, covers redness and prevents blemishes too.
