My Current Haircare Regime

My Current Haircare Regime

Hi guys,

I get this question asked a lot, which shampoo and conditioner do you use or what’s your haircare routine. Well it keeps on changing, I don’t stick to one shampoo or conditioner.

Currently I have been using and loving this range from BBLUNT.

I use the BBLUNT Perfect Balance Shampoo which is meant for normal to dry hair.

Claims: This pick-me-up for your hair gives it great moisture balance. Its unique formula gives you perfectly cleansed, healthy hair. An everyday fix made simple.

Specially created for Indian hair with a unique colour protect formula.

MRP: Rs.600/- for 400ml (Buy HERE)

How to use: First, thoroughly wet your hair. Then take one pump or more depending on hair length. Spread it evenly throughout your hair by massaging the scalp with gentle circular motions. Rinse out thoroughly and repeat if necessary.

It has glycerin and pro-vitamin B5. It’s very gentle and nourishing, and perfect for everyday use if you shampoo your hair everyday. This won’t dry out your hair, yet cleanse the scalp well. It foams well and gets rid of all dirt, sweat and grime, without stripping hair’s natural oils.

Coming to the Conditioner, I use the BBLUNT Intense Moisture Conditioner because of my drier ends.

Claims: This moisture-rich conditioner makes out-of-control hair manageable. It smoothens, softens & adds shine. Show your hair some love.

MRP: Rs.400/- for 200g (Buy HERE)

How to use: Make sure to remove excess water after shampooing. Apply the conditioner evenly to lengths and ends, avoiding the scalp. Leave it on for at least 3 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately

It has Jojoba oil, Vitamin E, Hydrolyzed Keratin & Wheat Germ Oil. It adds back moisture to the hair and even if you have colour treated/dry/damaged hair, this will hydrate the ends and give a nice sheen. I have highlights towards the bottom and I do need a rich conditioner like this.

Always make sure you squeeze out all the excess water before applying the conditioner. I have fine hair and even though this conditioner is rich in texture, it does not weigh down my hair.

And finally to finish, I use the BBLUNT Intense Moisture Hair Serum which is one of their new launches.

Claims: This serum provides an extra boost of nourishment and gloss to dry hair. Thick and rebellious hair is smooth, manageable and well-nourished.

How to use: Take a coin size amount into your palms and apply it evenly, focusing on mid-lengths & ends. The amount may vary depending on hair length. Works best on damp, towel dried hair. Style as desired.

MRP: Rs.500/- (Buy HERE)

It has avocado extracts, jojoba oil, argan oil and Vitamin E. It doesn’t contain mineral oil which forms majority content in most of the leave-in serums including some high end ones. It’s like an oil but it is non-sticky and reduces frizz instantly!

Use a serum on an everyday basis, even if you haven’t washed your hair. It acts as a sunscreen for your hair and forms a barrier against sun damage and free radicals. A glossy shine and frizz control are added benefits 🙂 It also works as a heat protectant.

I am loving these three products currently, I usually air dry my hair and don’t use much heat. This combination does not weigh down my fine hair and hydrates the ends well plus the serum gives a nice shine.

Organix Thick and Full Biotin and Collagen Shampoo Review

Organix Thick and Full Biotin and Collagen Shampoo Review

By Ria

Hii Girls,

Presently I am on a “Detox Mode” for my stash. I have a bad habit of buying lots of stuff and hoarding them for life long. And recently when I had to shift my place then it became hell lot of a task. So, I pledged to first empty my stash and get done with all the present stock I have and then only I will buy new stuff.

Recently I was done with my shampoo stash and then I headed for a new shampoo for my very fine and dry hair. I have seen shampoos from Organix brand and most of them had good reviews. So, I thought why not finally buy a shampoo from this brand and make my very own impression. So, I went ahead with the online hunt and finally zeroed in on Organix Thick and Full Biotin and Collagen Shampoo.

Product description – A high performance blend of powerful ProVitamin B7 biotin infuses nutrients into every strand, while plumping collagen adds volume and dimension, and hydrolyzed wheat protein strengthens, for thicker, fuller, healthier looking hair.

Why you want it…

After just one use, strands feel thicker and look fuller and more abundant! Helps to thicken and texturize any hair type. Immerse your skinny looking strands in this super volumizing formula to create fuller looking, shiny hair after just one use.

What you do…

Apply organix shampoo generously to wet hair, massage the lather through ends. Then rinse hair thoroughly. After shampooing, follow with organix conditioner.

Price : Rs. 725 for 385 ml. (Buy for Rs.688 HERE)

Packaging – Organix Thick and Full Biotin and Collagen Shampoo comes in a huge purple sized bottle with matte golden cap. The shampoo comes in size variants and I bought the bottle of size 385 ml. I like my shampoo bottles a bit bigger as I shampoo every alternate day so I need a good amount of shampoo every month. The bottle has entire product and price details. The bottle is round and the cap is tightly enclosed to prevent any spillage.

My Take on Organix Thick and Full Biotin and Collagen Shampoo

The shampoo is medium in consistency and purple in colour. This is first time in my life that I saw a shampoo of purple colour and I was really excited when I had the first look of the shampoo. Shampoo is diluted with water to get the desired consistency. After which you can easily spread the shampoo on your palms and finally on your hair.

When it comes to the performance of any shampoo I judge it mostly by two factors. First and foremost is how good the shampoo lathers. And this one didn’t lather that well. So, I was a bit skeptical at the beginning that will it cleanse my heavily oiled hair. But yes the shampoo cleaned it. My scalp felt squeaky clean and the oil was completely removed with this shampoo.

This is a thickening shampoo though, and it is widely known that Voluminizing and thickening shampoo dry out your hair texture. But I have read good reviews that this one locks the moisture in your hair. And once my hair dried I also felt the same. My hair was very soft without even an inch of dryness or roughness in it. Plus as far as the thickening effect is concerned it created beautiful waves on my hair. There was no sudden or dramatic increase in volume but my hair had beautiful waves which I absolutely loved. The effect stayed on till the second day after which I washed off my hair.

Also, economy wise on my medium length hair and on thrice usage every week the shampoo lasted me 2.5 months which is perfectly fine for me. So, there you get huge quantity inside the huge bottle.

Pros –

1. Easily available – online and offline

2. Huge quantity for the price

3. Gives nice bounce and volume.

4. Smells nice

5. SLS free

Cons –

None

Rating – 5/5

Would I recommend Organix Thick and Full Biotin and Collagen Shampoo – In a nutshell, I finally found a shampoo which my hair and I both love. It is great and one of the best and affordable shampoo I have used till date. I have tried a number of shampoos even from high-end brands but this one by far remains the best.

Editor’s Note: This sounds really good. I will give this a try.

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Aloe Vera Shampoo Review

Patanjali Kesh Kanti Aloe Vera Shampoo Review

By Taniya

Patanjali is a well known brand in the Indian market. It is famous for its affordable and effective health, hair and skin care products. The product that I am going to review today is a haircare product – PATANJALI KESH KANTI ALOE VERA SHAMPOO. Now lets see how this product fared for me.

What it claims- Prevents hairfall, minimize split ends, removes dirt from hair and scalp. Makes hair thick and beautiful.

Usage- Take 2-3 ml of product on hand, message on wet hair and then rinse off. The whole usage instruction is written in Hindi though.

Ingredients:

Each 10ml contains extract of

● Aloevera- 500mg

● Hibiscus rosa sinensis – 1.0mg

● Ocimum sanctum (tulsi) – 1.0mg

● Baccopa monnieri (bhrami) – 1.0mg

● Sapindus trifoliatus (reetha) – 1.0mg

● Emblica offcinalis (amla) – 1.0mg

● Eclipta alba (bhringraj) – 1.0mg

● Lawsonia innermis (heena) – 1.0mg

● Acacia concina (shikakai) – 1.0mg

● Curcuma longa (haldi) – 1.0mg

● Tinospora cordifolia (giloyi) – 1.0mg

● Psoralea corylifolia (bakuchi) – 1.0mg

● Base material qs

Now all the base materials are listed separately too.

● Aqua surfacant base

● Tocopherol

● D-Panthenol

● Permitted colour

● Preservative

● Sugandhit dravya

Price – 75 INR for 200ml of product

Shelf life – 2 years

My take:-

This new launch from Patanjali Ayurved has a different packaging than their other variants. This one comes in a transparent bottle and it very easy to see the amount of product left. The flip top cap shuts tightly with a click which makes it travel friendly.

The shampoo is light green in colour with a gel consistency but when I apply it on my wet hair it lathers very well and my hair is clean in the first wash itself. The smell is citrusy and is mainly like their aloevera gel making it very refreshing for me. It lingers for a good time after I have finished washing my hair.

I am using this product for about 2 weeks now and I have seen my hair become soft and manageable after each hair wash. Even when I washed my hair once without conditioner, it didn’t make my hair very dry and rough. It has controlled the oiliness of my hair and even after 2 days my hair feels soft and so much clean. It has controlled my hairfall to some extent but I can’t comment on split ends as I don’t have as such.

There is no mention of parabens or SLS in the ingredient list so I will like to infer that it is free from these harmful stuff which is a big yay for me. The cons that I feel might be the availability as Patanjali products are sometimes out of stock and are not easily available online. Again I need a little more quantity of shampoo than their other variants for my mid-length hair. But considering their price, I feel it is a steal deal.

Pros-

● Affordable and effective

● Ayurvedic so no side effects

● Contains all good ingridients especially aloevera

● Makes hair soft, smooth and manageable

● Controls hair fall

● Controls oiliness in hair

● Refreshing smell

● Does what it claims

● No parabens or sls

● Better than their other variants

Cons-

● Availability might be an issue

● Need more quantity than others

● Not completely preservative or chemical free

● Packaging can be better

Repurchase and recommendation – Yes in both cases. I love this shampoo specially for summers and monsoons when both me and my hair need to feel fresh.

Overall- It is a very effective shampoo from Patanjali with all natural goodness and it does what it claims to do. And considering the price it is a definitely worth a try.

Editor’s Note: That’s a nice review Taniya, I am looking at trying a few Patanjali products, this one definitely seems worth a try.

They also had this beautiful setup created at High Street Phoenix where each range was coordinated with the main ingredients in it i.e. almonds and milk for soy milk and almond range, Olives for Mythic Oil range, so on and so forth.

Mythic Olive
5 Precious Herbs
Soy Milk & Almonds
Henna & Blackberry

I have to say this was the most beautiful setup I had seen at any event, and I have been to many! I am sure you can make that out from the pictures.

They gave floral tiaras to all the guests and even the food and drinks were as per the ingredients. The entire highlight was on the different blend of ingredients in the range.

MRP: Shampoo- Rs.120 for 175ml, Rs.55 for 75ml Conditioner- Rs.170 for 175ml. Rs.75 for 75ml for all ranges

I loved the color coordinated packaging as per the ingredients and the cute ‘leaf’ symbol on the caps. Also they smell amazing, Royal Jelly and Lavender is my favourite!

Royal Jelly & Lavender

They are quite rich and moisturizing, and foam well too. I have used the Royal Jelly and Lavender one till now and absolutely love it, though I haven’t tried the conditioner and looking forward to buy the conditioner and use it with the shampoo. I would recommend trying both the shampoo and conditioner together as either one would not give the result which the combination of both would.

It have noticed my hair being more softer and smoother. I don’t have very dry hair, but people with dry hair would see remarkable difference. I can’t wait to try the other ranges now!

A lot of you keep asking me about paraben free hair care, this entire range i.e. all five variants are paraben free.

USP’s:

  • Very economical- Being priced at Rs.55/-, this is one of the most budget friendly range of shampoos in the India currently.
  • Different range for different hair types- So you can choose one according to your hair type or hair problem.
  • Paraben free
  • Smells amazing- Each of the range smells really good.
  • Easily available- You can buy them easily at any store or even online.

I do recommend trying out the new Garnier Ultra Blends Range. Do let me know how you like it. Follow Garnier India on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for more updates.

Selsun Selenium Sulfide Topical Suspension Shampoo Review

Selsun Selenium Sulfide Topical Suspension Shampoo Review

By Pallavi

Hii Girlies,

I normally suffer from dry skin issues. And with dry skin there are a number of other associated issues too. Dandruff is one of the major concerns of dry hairs. Now, who likes white patches on hair. It looks so yakkks and unclean. I suffer from dandruff hair issues all round the year. Some people suffer from dandruff only in winters but i am a poor soul who has to face this issue always.

So, i came to a conclusion that i will shampoo my hair every alternate day after proper oiling. This time when i went home my mother gave me this lotion and told that this one is the holy grail for dandruff. So, i decided to give it a try and here follows the review.

Price : Rs. 204.76 for 120 ml

Ingredients : Selenium sulfide 2.5%; bentonite, citric acid, cocoamphocarboxyglycinate, ethylene glycol monostearate, fragrance, glycerol monoricinoleate, lauramide DEA, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium phosphate (monobasic), titanium dioxide, and water.

Directions for use: take some 3-4 drops of the hair lotion depending on your hair length and volume. Now, dilute the same with winter so that it easily spreads on your hairs. Now, apply the lotion on your entire hair covering the hair scalp and length. After 15-20 minutes your hair will turn dry. Now, you can rinse it with water.

Company claims: A liquid antiseborrheic, antifungal preparation for topical application. Selenium sulfide has the molecular formula SeS2 and has a molecular weight of 143.09

My experience with Selenium Sulfide topical suspension shampoo:

The lotion comes in a small sized white bottle which has the details inscribed on it. The bottle has a cap at the top. You need to twist the cap so that the lotion comes out. The lotion is thick yellow in colour which smells heavily of chemicals. You need to dilute it with water so that it spreads easily on the hair.

The first time when i applied this lotion on my hair, my hair also smelt of medicines and chemicals. All those 15-20 minutes that i left this lotion on my hair it felt heavily of chemicals. My hairs turned completely stiff after some time. But once when i washed it the hair felt incredibly soft. Yes, they were not that free flowing but the stickiness vanished from my hair. But if you oil then don’t expect this lotion to remove the oil. And if you do, then make sure you apply a regular cleansing shampoo after that in order to remove the build up from the hair.

I started using hair lotion once every week. Within 1 month my dandruff considerably got reduced. So, once you finish this hair lotion, your dandruff issues will get resolved. But the same story repeats when you stop using this one. so, it’s just a temporary and not a permanent solution.

Pros of Selenium Sulfide topical suspension shampoo:

1. Takes care of dandruff

2. Easy to use

3. Spreds easily on hairs once diluted with water

Cons of Selenium Sulfide topical suspension shampoo:

1. Loaded with chemicals

2. Does not give freshly shampooed hair

3. Temporary solution to your dandruff issues

Rating – 1/5

Editor’s Note: Umm, so this works but it is a temporary solution. Alteast they could have made the smell bearable :/ Nice review Pallavi.

What do you use for dandruff? Have you tried Selsun shampoo?

MoroccanOil Moisture Repair Shampoo, Conditioner Review

MoroccanOil Moisture Repair Shampoo, Conditioner Review

Hi guys, I had this Moisture Repair Range since a long time but never really got to use it. Since this range is meant for dry and damaged hair, I thought the winters would be the perfect time to use it.

MoroccanOil products are sulphate, phosphate and paraben free and Color Safe.

What the Company claims: Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner are for hair that has been weakened or damaged by color, chemical processing or heat styling. They restore hair by bathing it in a highly concentrated formula rich in antioxidant argan oil, reconstructive keratin and fatty acids. Both products restore elasticity, moisture and manageability. The formulas are free of sulfates, phosphates and parabens, so they’re safer for the environment and won’t dry, fade or strip color-treated hair.

Directions:

To Use the Shampoo: Because Moisture Repair Shampoo uses a highly concentrated, water-loving formula, begin by using plenty of water to activate the shampoo into a rich, luxurious lather. Add more water if necessary. Massage through hair and scalp. Rinse and follow with Moisture Repair Conditioner.

To Use the Conditioner: Gently squeeze excess water from hair and apply a small amount of the highly concentrated conditioner from roots to ends. Leave in for 1–2 minutes. Rinse well.

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1395/- for 250ml (BUY HERE)

To start with, I love the blue and white round packaging, the color is quite bright. It has a flip cap and the shampoo being blue and conditioner being white, it’s easy to distinguish.

It has an off white tint and is quite runny. It foams and cleanses the hair well, but if you have oiled your hair, you will need to shampoo twice. Also as they have mentioned in the directions above, it does need a wet base and lot of water to foam up. Since I wash my hair twice a week, I do need to shampoo twice to cleanse my hair well.

Conditioner

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1395/- for 250ml (BUY HERE)

The conditioner is thick and creamy and off white in color. It is quite rich in texture, it does hydrate the lower half and ends where it is applied, really well. Also it is easy to wash off.

Hair is soft, smooth and frizz free. No trace of dryness at all.

Both the shampoo and conditioner have a slight argan oil kind of smell, not very pleasant but kind of ok. It’s quite a rich range and even though I used it for winters, it is still rich for me. I have normal hair which are straight to wavy, they are not very dry or voluminous and neither damaged. I do not use heat, color, chemicals on my hair, so my hair is quite healthy and for my hair, this range was over rich. It weighed down my hair and also my hair looked oily 2 days post washing, which does not usually happen. My hair stays well behaved for 3 days post washing, sometimes even 4. (Perhaps I should also try the ‘Reverse Shampoo’ technique with this, do you guys know about it? Would you like a blog post?)

I loved the ingredients, it has argan oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, chamomile leaf extract, lavender extract, rosemary oil, castor oil, glycerine and even panthenol and hydrolyzed keratin. It has all the ‘good things’ needed for the hair. It is the best thing for dry and damaged hair coz the keratin and panthenol along with all the oils will deeply repair the damage and also control the volume and frizz.

For me since I do not have dry or damaged hair, I would skip this, maybe I would use this once a month or so or when I have travelled a lot or my hair has gone through some heat. I would love to try their other Hydrating Range. For now, I have switched back to Wella Pro Elements Range.

Moroccanoil is pricey and also available at selected salons, but now you can get it online on Amazon too. But being all chemical and sulphate free, it is perfect for cysteine, rebonded, colored hair or that has gone through any chemical procedure. And while being color and treatment safe, it will also repair, nourish and hydrate at the same time. Definitely recommend this range for dry, damaged and treated hair.

Would I buy it again: No, not this range. Maybe the other Hydrating one.

TRESemmé Ionic Strength Range Shampoo, Conditioner Review

TRESemmé Ionic Strength Range Shampoo, Conditioner Review

Hi guys,

So after I finished using the Dove Oxygen Moisture Range, I tried this new TRESemme Ionic Strength Range and here is my review.

What the Company claims:  This innovative range is inspired from salon treatments that “reconstruct”and “repair” hair that has been exposed to styling and in the process, weakened and damaged. The Advanced IONIC Complex in this new range nourishes the hair and forms a protective shield, allowing it to withstand the potential damage due to heat styling tools and frequent brushing, while also reinforcing hair’s natural strength. Gentle enough for daily use, TRESemméIonic Strength ensures your hair is strong and beautifully soft making it manageable, like you have just stepped out of a salon.

How does the product work?

Using an electric appliance on your hair can damage it. Damaged hair has more negative charge. TRESemmé Ionic Strength technology with ionic complex contains positively charged ingredients which get attracted to the negatively charged damaged hair, making it smoother. When used with Ionic Strength conditioner it helps restore and nourish your hair, reinforcing its natural protection to damage.

MRP: TRESemmé Ionic Strength Shampoo 190ml Rs. 185, 580ml Rs. 415

TRESemmé Ionic Strength Conditioner 85ml Rs. 94,  190ml Rs. 185

Ingredients Shampoo:

Ingredients Conditioner:

It comes in the trademark TRESemme black and white packaging with a press button flip to open and shut. Also it has the same runny white shampoo and a thick white conditioner as the other TRESemme ranges. Smells also almost the same. My favourite TRESemme Range was the Split End Remedy one, that reminds me it’s been ages I have not used that and should try that again soon!

The shampoo foams amazingly well and cleans your scalp and hair nicely, it is very hydrating and moisturising, so it actually would hydrate the dry, damaged hair as claimed. I don’t have dry hair and neither is my hair chemically treated or colored, so I did not see much of a difference in that. But it definitely left my hair softer and smoother, only thing being since my hair is not dry, rich shampoos kind of weigh my hair down and I do not get volume and bounce.

I love volume in my hair and the Dove Oxygen Moisture Shampoo actually used to give me amazing volume, since I used this shampoo directly after Dove, it was a straight comparision in my head and that is the only thing I don’t really like in this shampoo. However the same thing is a boon for dry, damaged hair.

Conditioner is rich and hydrating again, it untangles all the knots left while washing the hair and makes your fingers slide through the hair easily. I do like rich conditioners especially for the end parts of the hair and I quite like this.

At Rs.185/- it is slightly expensive than other shampoos and conditioners, but the difference is not much. I like it when brand has different sizes available and the smaller ones are perfect for travel.

Overall I would say, if you have dry, damaged hair, use a lot of heat, coloring, etc, this range will work really well on your hair. However, if your hair is normal, not very dry and you are not into coloring or heat, I would suggest using the Dove Oxygen Moisture Range. If I have to choose one for myself, I would go with Dove. I like this range but it is not my favourite

Dove Oxygen Moisture Conditioner

Directions to use:

1. After shampooing, apply along the lengths of wet hair, focusing on ends.

2. Keep for 1-3 minutes and rinse off thoroughly.

3. Use conditioner every time you shampoo for beautiful, smoother hair

MRP: Rs.91/80 ml. Rs. 194/180 ml (Buy Dove Conditioner)

Ingredients:

I have already shared a mini review of this in my August favourites YouTube video HERE. I have been using it since more than a month now. This is the first Dove shampoo that is in transparent, gel form. The packaging of  both the shampoo and conditioner is like the usual Dove range with a flip top cap. This one is white and blue.

Also the transparent gel like formula of the shampoo has a slight blue tint. The conditioner is white and creamy and rich like usual conditioners.

Now I have used Dove quite a lot and it has always worked for me, but many told me Dove gives them major hairfall. The only reason I see is that the Dove shampoos were always very rich and if someone has thin or fragile hear prone to breakage, the richness of the shampoo would be weighing down the hair causing breakage. I have never experienced any hairfall with any of the Dove ranges though. But this range is perfect for all of you did not like the previous ranges, coz this is very light and not that rich.

This shampoo will not weigh your hair down and will not give any hairfall. In fact I love the way it cleanses thoroughly and gives a nice bounce and volume to the hair. The conditioner is rich though but if you apply it only towards the ends, it should work. And the hair will retain the bounce.

I love the fresh smell of both the shampoo and conditioner. My hair is well behaved from the time I have been using this combination. There have been no frizz issues and I get the desired volume and bounce too with the smoothness of course.

Sorry I am unable to find the swatch pics in the folder, would update later.

I am happy with the price point too, and these smaller bottles are good to carry for a trip too.

Overall, I am loving this range and definitely recommend giving it a shot.

I have been using this L’Oreal Professionnel Hair Spa Deep Nourishing Range since 3 weeks now. I had a lot of expectations from this range after trying out and falling in love with the Absolut Repair Lipidium Range.

I love the bright blue packaging with the grey cap, it is very nice to look at and you can find out your shampoo from the lot in the bathroom :p The shampoo has a flip cap packaging and comes in this long, slender bottle and the conditioner comes in a tube packaging with a screw cap.

The shampoo is off white in color and runny in form, the conditioner is white and thicker. Both smell very refreshing, very close to soft, floral, water lily. A mix of aquatic and floral, I love the smell!

The shampoo foams really well and gets rid of all the oil and dirt in the hair within one wash. Quite impressed here. The hair is completely clean in one wash. If you have oily scalp, you will really like this. Even though this range is meant for dry skin, it is not heavy and creamy kind but very light.

The conditioner is hydrating but not very heavy,it won’t weigh down your hair. It is not the most hydrating conditioner out there, but does a decent job for someone with normal to dry hair, and would work perfectly for oily hair too. If you have very dry hair or prefer a heavy conditioner, then you would need something extra.

Hair remains soft, smooth and frizz free with this range for 2 days untill you wash next. There is no oiliness and no dryness. If you have drier ends, you will need to use a serum on the ends. Even though its meant for dry hair, it is not the deep hydrating kind, and that makes this range perfect for summers.

Price wise, they are decently priced and quite economical for the quantity. The bottles are huge and not travel friendly though. Also, the availability of the Professionnel range is an issue, and is only available on selected online sites or in salons.

Only downside is it has SLS and silicones, also I see ‘Mineral Oil’ 3rd in the Ingredients list in the Conditioner which I am not too pleased with.

Overall, I would say this range is good for summers and would work for all kinds of hair from oily to dry. It cleanses the scalp well and leaves the hair soft, smooth and frizz free. It is mild enough for everyday use too. If you have very dry hair, I would recommend the L’Oreal Professionnel Absolut Repair Lipidium Range. I would prefer using this range for summers and the Absolut Range for winters. If you have chemically treated or colored hair, I wouldn’t advise using this as it has SLS.

Shampoo for Different Kinds of Hair

Shampoo for Different Kinds of Hair

This is the common type of question people ask when it comes to hair care, which shampoo and conditioner would suit my hair. Now there are different kinds of hair, some are oily, some dry, curly, wavy, straight.frizzy, etc

Now what kind of shampoo would suit which hair type..let’s get on to this..

1. Dry hair

Your hair needs moisture and at the same time if you are washing your hair daily,it is getting ripped off the moisture. So you need a shampoo that is creamy and moisturising and yet gentle enough for everyday use. Also dry hair is more susceptible to hairfall and breakage since they are more brittle. A good, rich conditioner is also required for dry hair. I absolutely love the L’Oreal Professionnel Absolute Repair Lipidium Shampoo and Mask. Or the Schwarzkopf Professional BC Repair Rescue Range. You can also follow with a good hair serum for the ends. Look for ingredients with naturals oils, shea butter, etc in the shampoos and conditioners. Oil based shampoos like L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish also work for dry hair. Oil your hair once a week for an hour before shampooing.

2. Oily hair

This type of hair is more sticky and limp due to excessive sebum production, Make sure you do not massage your scalp a lot, leading to stimulation of the glands and also wash hair with warm water and not hot. A gentle, clear gel based shampoo works for your hair type, something like Biotique Bio Green Apple Fresh Daily Purifying Shampoo or Omved Brahmi & Peppermint Shampoo. Use a clarifying shampoo once a week. Look out for ingredients like Panthenol and Wheat Protein in the shampoo. Also use the conditioner only towards the ends.

3. Coloured/Straightened Hair

Since the hair has gone through chemical treatments, it is best to use a SLS free shampoo so as to let the effect stay longer. The Body Shop Rainforest Range is SLS free and all natural. There are also a few natural brands like Omved and SoulTree which have SLS free shampoos.

4. Curly hair

Curly hair needs a right shampoo to maintain its curls and texture. You do not want straighter looking hair which actually leads to neither straight nor curls kind of hair. To maintain the natural form of the curls, a separate shampoo for curly hair is needed. I would recommend Curly Twirls, Kerastase Nutritive Bain OleoCurl Curl Definition Shampoo or TIGI Catwalk Curls Rock Shampoo.

If you have frizzy hair, a shampoo recommended for dry skin above would work. A good serum will help control frizz and also avoiding heating tools as much as possible, would keep frizz under control.

What kind of hair do you have? And what shampoo do you use?
