Whoa, that’s quite a mouthful! I have been using this day cream and eye cream from the L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Range from quite some time, day cream being on and off, read below to know why.

What the Company claims: GET INSTANT PERFECTION AND DAY AFTER DAY SKIN WHITENING FROM WITHIN WITH THE REVOLUTIONARY WHITE PERFECT MAGIC WHITE DOUBLE WHITENING CREAM.

PRODUCT BENEFITS: Upon application, thousands of MAGIC BEADS melt on skin to instantly and magically brighten and even skin tone right from the 1st touch, with no BB cream effect. Apply on cleansed skin every day.
INNOVATIONS & INGREDIENTS: High concentration of MELANIN-VANISH accelerates the skin regeneration process to unload excess melanin deep in skin layers and reduce dullness and dark spots.

Ingredients:

Ingredients:

Both the day cream and eye cream come in this white and blue packaging, the day cream being a flat tube with a nozzle front and the eye cream being slim and round with a thin nozzle tip.

The day cream is white in color and thin and runny in texture, it spreads easily on the skin but it needs some blending as it leaves a whitish cast which looks too obvious if not blended well. The smell is not so pleasant too.

You definitely see visible brightness on the skin as soon as you apply it, but it not something permanent or that stays forever. If you read the ingredients in the image above, you see a lot of different silicones in it. Now my skin is not very sensitive and does not react easily to products but with this one, I broke out and got a lot of white heads, I had to stop using it for a few days. Then I started using it again and I broke out again 🙁 Now I have 2-3 acne scars to deal with. I am not really sure what particularly from the ingredients was triggering break outs. Coz I have used products with silicones before, maybe the combination of silicones or a particular silicone was doing it.

Till the time I used it, I can say that it does give the skin a brighter look and feel though not permanently. It is moisturising enough and there were no dry patches on the skin. I wouldn’t recommend it to sensitive skin though, for others, do give it a try if you want brighter, firmer looking skin but don’t expect permanent or long term results. You will notice a difference till the time you use it. Also, it has SPF19.

Coming to the eye cream, I love the convenient packaging and the nozzle only dispenses the required quantity. It is light yellow in color and slightly thick but easily blendable.

I target my under eye area at first, and then with some product left on the ring fingers I go over the entire eye lightly. I definitely noticed a difference in my under eye area from the time I am using it. The eye area is more moisturised, dark circles less visible and eye area is brighter. Caffeine also helps in reducing the under eye bags.

L- Eye cream, R- Day Cream

I love the eye cream and definitely recommend it, if you have dry skin and are anywhere in your late 20’s and early 30’s, it is time you start using an eye cream and invest in a good one. Even though this sounds expensive, 15g tube would last long as you need quite a tiny amount.

Overall, I would say the day cream did not work for me coz it broke me out but the eye cream is definitely worth a try!

Beauty Fest at Westside with StudioWest

Westside, Trent has recently announced the launch of StudioWest, an extensive range of make-up and bath & body products in July.

They had a ‘Beauty Festival’ at their Infiniti Mall, Andheri store where there is a dedicated area for all things makeup, beauty and hair! You can find all the brands here from Lakme, Colorbar, BBLUNT, LYN, Maybelline, L’Oreal Paris and of course StudioWest.

I absolutely loved how StudioWest was presented in a circular kiosk with all their products arranged beautifully section wise.

We had the celebrity makeup artist Pallavi Symons who demonstrated a few looks using the StudioWest products. She has also created a series of makeup videos for StudioWest in association with Glamrs.com, some of which you can see HERE, HERE and HERE.

They had a Beauty Spin Wheel with five different looks and Pallavi recreated the Cat Eye on Sonal Sagaraya and the Summer Brunch look on Samyukta.

ZA Total Hydration Amino Mineral Refreshing Gel Review

Last month, Za launched their Total Hydration Range in India. The Fresh Foamy Cleanser and the Amino Mineral Refreshing Gel are released till now.

I have been using the Amino Mineral Refreshing Gel since quite some time now and here is my review.

What the Company claims: This Award Winning Gel minimizes stickiness and thoroughly replenishes skin’s moisture giving it clarified glow and vibrancy. Spreads effortlessly forming a water veil that instantly restores skin, reduces flakiness and roughness in dry skin and sebum induced stickiness in oily skin. Makes skin Bouncy Fresh and Dewy Radiant all day long! Moisture charge in just 10 seconds!

How to use: Dab an appropriate amount (approx. 0.6 g) on several spots over face with the fingertip and smooth over from the center of the face outwards.

I have always liked water based moisturizers and makeup products and I am glad that now more brands are coming with water based products, few years down the line it was all about heavy creamy moisturizers and then only Fabindia had a Vitamin E moisturizer for oily skin which was water based and super light. That was my Holy Grail then and now I got so many options.

To start with the packaging, it is pink in color! I mean how many girls can resist pink packaging, tell me 😀 It has a tube dispensor and a swivel cap. I like that the dispensor is tiny and you can dispense only the required quantity and you don’t need much per use.

I take a tiny pea sized amount for my face and it’s like enough. It looks like a thick serum and is milky white in color and gel like in texture. It blends completely into the skin in a minute and settles down.

It leaves no trace of oiliness or stickiness. It is hydrating, moisturizing and yet very light. It does control oil too for some hours. My T-zone is oily and it remains oily free for a few hours even without setting with a compact.

Since you need very tiny amount, the 50g tube will last me quite long and the price comes out to be pretty economical. I think this is one moisturizer that will be suitable for all skin types since it takes care of both dryness and sebum/oil.

I haven’t broken out with this and I have been using it daily, I think this is my new HG. I absolutely recommend it.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, Body Butter Review

A few weeks ago The Body Shop launched their new Fuji Green Tea Range with Miss Malini & Jacqueline Fernandez at The Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. I have created this short vlog from the event for you guys..

The Body Shop India also sent us this lovely hamper which had their new Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub & Body Butter, Green Tea Bags, a glass brewer and a mug, also a cute Japanese hand fan.

I have been using the Body Scrub & Body Butter since quite a few days now, and here is my review 🙂

Now I have tried many body scrubs from coffee to sea salt and sugar, etc., but mostly all the body scrubs are oil based i.e. the have almond oil or olive oil, etc as their base. Though the base oil leaves the skin moisturized but sometimes it is difficult to get rid of and when it is humid, I prefer a light, non greasy feeling on my skin.

The Body Shop always makes gel based body scrubs which are easy to use and do not leave a heavy oily feeling on the skin, the Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub was one such scrub. And coming to this Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, it is even more light and smells very refreshing.

It is a transparent gel base with small white particles and green beads. I am not a fan of green tea smell but this actually smells very light and refreshing and not at all of strong green tea which I had thought it would.

I like the slightly curved top packaging with a steel cap and a transparent see through tub.It is very gentle when it comes to exfoliating and leaves my skin squeaky clean with a hint of the refreshing smell.

I quite like the body scrub, and it is one of my favourite body scrubs now.

Now I have never been into body butters, I prefer body lotions always, coz I find body butters very rich on my skin. I do use them in winters when my skin is very dry but for rest of the time, I like body lotions which are light and absorb easily.

This is the first Body Butter from The Body Shop which I absolutely loved coz it is super light in texture and does not at all feel rich like butter.

It comes in a round tub packaging like all other The Body Shop Body Butters. It is light green in color and though butter like in texture, blends really well and gets absorbed instantly with no greasiness left behind.

Again has a light, refreshing smell and when the body scrub and body butter are used together, the smell lingers on for quite some time.

The skin stays hydrated and moisturized throughout the day, I don’t really reapply but if you have very dry skin, you can always reapply at night.

The entire range consists of Exfoliating Soap, Eau De Cologne, Body Sorbet, Body Scrub, Body Lotion, Body Wash and Body Butter. I absolutely love the Eau De Cologne, it is so refreshing and smells amazing.

They have a 20% off when you buy 3 products from this range offer going on currently on their site. I absolutely recommend trying this range and especially the body scrub and body butter if you are already into scrubbing and using body butters. Even if you are someone who prefers lotions, do check out the body butter tester if you have a Body Shop store around coz this is their lightest body butter. You can always get the body lotion otherwise. I am eyeing the Exfoliating Soap and the Eau De Cologne from this range next.

I have been using this mineral compact sunscreen since quite some time now. This one is in the shade ‘Teint Claire- Light Colour’. I have only seen the other shade ‘Gold’ in white packaging but I am not sure of the shade.

I love the bright yellow packaging, appropriate for a sunscreen! It comes in a compact form with mirror on one side and a white sponge in the compartment down.

It is in cream form and you need to take the product on the sponge and apply it liberously covering your entire face, remember the less product you use, the less sun protection you would be getting. It is very easy to apply and blend. It settles on the face in sometime and does not leave any greasiness. Also, a few sunscreens make me sweat a lot, this did not! If you have oily skin, you will need to powder it of course coz this is cream based.

The only problem is the shade, it is very light and has a pink/grey undertone, so I need to use my skin shade compact powder on top to balance and match the color. But using a compact works and it does not look stark white later one. It will even out your skin tone and redness and the compact will mattify and give some coverage. So the combination of this sunscreen and a compact powder can be a perfect everyday combination which is what I have been using every single day.

I love the fact that it is Fragrance-free, Paraben-free and Preservative-free, and also water and sweat proof. It gives a very high sun protection of SPF 50+ and also protects from UVA rays. It also protects from sun burn and tanning. I haven’t tanned ever since I am using it.

Overall I would say, I absolutely love it and recommend it. It is slightly pricey but then it will also last a long time since it is 10g. It is available online on Nykaa and Purplle. The only problem is the shade, a compact is required to match it to skin and oily skin will definitely need a powder to set it.

I got some 15-16 masks from them including the 3 step masks and also 2 ampoules from them. I have been trying this out one by one every week. I am loving the masks untill now and I think I will love each and every one of these :p

All About Surgery Scars & Mederma Review

As you guys know, I met with an accident in January and had surgery stitch marks on both my legs, on the right knee and left ankle predominantly. Usually the senior surgeons do the main internal surgery and the stitching is left to juniors and interns and the stapling or stitching if not done well, the skin forms a mount there. Now at that moment, nobody cares about the skin, as the main internal surgery is very, very crucial especially the surgeons are least bothered about the skin or scars.

Also the skin on my left arm was completely bruised and even though it was not a stitch mark, the mark was even darker and deeper.

There was this main big cut on my knee and two smaller ones at the left side of the bigger cut. The skin there had formed a mount and as per what I read online, fresh scars are easier to fade when treated immediately. I ordered Bio Oil and was using it ever since my stapled were removed, twice a day on all of my scars. It kept the skin moisturised and that helps coz otherwise if your skin feels stretched, you kind of feel like itching on the area.

I used Bio Oil for a little more than a month, but did not see any visible results or improvements. Bio Oil has Vitamin E and I also read that sometimes Vitamin E Then I read about Mederma and I thought why not try this too, as I was trying all possible ways for the scars to lighten.

Now the Mederma  pack mentioned for fresh scars, it has to be used twice a day for 8 weeks to see results. I used it for more than 2 months, and I did see results.

My surgery stitch marks went from black to light brown and the mount on the skin (called ‘keloids’) on the biggest cut is almost gone, now there are two smaller cuts which I am hoping settle down soon too. (I am not saying it is only coz of Mederma coz with time, they were anyway going to lighten) I met a dermat at an event and I asked her about it, she told me cortison injections need to be injected on keloids and I freaked out. I did not want any injections, as I have already suffered a lot and everything freaks me out now :/

I was surprised how by only using Mederma, the biggest cut had subsided a lot and almost faded too. Now the bruises on my left arm and the two smaller cuts near right knee and the bigger left ankle one are still brown and I hope they lighten too.

I am using this since a long, long time now, though I took a break in between. But, the results are very slow! I would say Mederma Gel definitely works but it takes forever, so one has to be patient.

Also, it is definitely on the expensive side, but when you want to get rid of the scars without going through cosmetic surgery or taking injections, etc, then slow and steady is probably the way to go.

It is a transparent gel, with an unpleasant smell. I would say going easy with the quantity applied, as it is very expensive! It forms a layer on the skin and when you have a bath next, the layer kind of peels off like the dead skin coming out when you rub your skin.

I am not sure how it actually works, like renews the skin cells and layers or what, but if you are looking for something for your acne scars and surgery stitch marks, this will surely help lighten them.

Again, the scars won’t go away completely and also don’t expect overnight magic as it took me about 5-6 months to only lighten the scars. Also, on old scars, it might even take longer.

I am not sure if it works on stretch marks, I can say it works on acne scars, burn marks and stitch marks.

Vichy Purete Thermale Spa 3 in 1 Calming Cleansing Micellar Solution (quite a mouthful) comes in this rectangular bottle packaging with a flip cap. The plastic bottle is slightly big and not very travel friendly.

I have been using this since quite some time now. It removes all of my makeup easily, especially melts the foundation and removes the lipstick in one go.

My only issue was the eye area again 🙁 Sadly how much ever I try and shut my eyes tight while removing my eye makeup, some remover seeps into the eye and the eyes start burning. Thankfully, this did not burn my eyes as much, but yes I couldn’t remove my kajal on the waterline with this too, as with other micellar waters.

The best thing is you need not wash your face, it is completely non sticky and non greasy. It is just like water, that melts all your makeup and removes it all. It is very calming and soothing and perfect for sensitive skin too.

Compared to Bioderma, this is slightly expensive. (Bioderma Sensibio is Rs.860/- fro 250ml) But both worked almost the same way for me. If you cannot get your hands on the Bioderma one or want to try something new, I would highly recommend you try this Vichy Purete Thermale Spa Micellar Solution.

Overall I would say, apart from my eye area, I loved it using on the face and it made removing makeup quite an ease. I would have preferred if it would come in smaller bottles and different variants.

So I took up the #7DayGarnierChallenge last week where I had to use the Garnier White Complete Fairness Face Wash and the Garnier Multi Action Fairness Cream for 7 days and see the results.

I finished my 7 days yesterday and here is my review.

I don’t generally review skin care before testing it for a minimum of 21-25 days but since this was a specific challenge for 7 days, I am doing it after exact 7 days.

I have used the previous Garnier Multi Action Fairness Cream and did not like that much, this new formula is quite better in terms of smell and texture and does not give that much of a whitish cast as the old formula did. The old formula used to just sit on the skin and not get absorbed, this is much better and does get absorbed into the skin. This provides SPF19 PA+++ protection too.

It comes in a small jar that is easy to carry and convenient to use. It is a white colored cream, not very thick but normal cream form. It is not very sticky or greasy and gets absorbed instantly. It does not hydrate much, girls with dry skin might need a richer moisturizer especially in winters. I think this will work better for oily to combination skin.

It comes with a shade card at the side of the carton and it did not give me 3 tones fairer skin obviously, but I did see brighter, matte skin and was a tone lighter which I guess was my tan that has now thankfully gone away coz of this combination.

Coming to the face wash, I love it. It is a white colored cream face wash which foams a lot. It removes all the dirt, basic makeup and gives refreshed, brighter skin. It foams really well, does not leave a slimy feeling behind and the skin feels super clean and translucent.

It is quite affordable and comes in smaller packs too, both the face wash and the cream.

I would say the combination of the face wash and cream definitely made my skin brighter and helped me get rid of the tan in just 7 continuous days and made it a shade it was originally. Both the cream and the face wash have lemon essence, which is the main ingredient that helps get rid of tan and brightens and tones the skin.
