Plum Smokey Eyes for Diwali with L’Oreal Paris Festive Fever

Plum Smokey Eyes for Diwali with L’Oreal Paris Festive Fever

Hi guys,

I got a few things from the L’Oreal Paris Festive Fever collection. This collection has a range of products apt for the current festive season i.e. Diwali.

I got the Color Riche La Palette Nude in Rose, I think they have this floral design on on eye shadow for this special occasion, coz I haven’t seen in that usual palettes.

The Color Riche Les Ombre Eyeshadow in Midnight Rose, Color Riche Le Smoky Eyeliner Pencil in Black Velour. The eye pencil is amazing! Super creamy, super pigmented, stays long, comes with a smudger behind. Tough competition with my favourites Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate and Colorbar Just Smoky Just Black.

Then we have the Lucent Magique Blush in Sunset Glow, Super Liner Gel Intenza in Sapphire Blue. The Gel Intenza Gel liners are my favourites, I have all three shades and highly recommend these to everyone!

The Super Liner Perfect Slim, which I guess is a new launch in India. I love felt tip pen eyeliners and only use those, can’t wait to try this one.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Powder, Volume Million Lashes Mascara which is my favourite! And last but not the least, the Moist Matte Lipstick In Blaze of Red. I love the moist matte formula and they are one of my favourite range in L’Oreal Paris.

I came up with this plum smokey eyes using these products..

I used my L’Oreal Paris Infallible Foundation for the base and set it with the True Match Super Blendable Powder. The Lucent Magique Sunset Glow Blush for the blush and highlight. For my eyes, I used the Le Smoky Pencil in Black first to line my upper lashline and smudged it softly. I used the plum shade all over the lid and the warm light brown in the crease and for blending. I used the soft pink eye shadow in the inner corners and the matte off white shade on my brow bone. I used the Le Smoky Pencil for both waterline and tightlining and smoked the lower lash line with the same plum and brown. Finally finished with the Volume Million Lashes Mascara, two coats on both upper and lower lashes.

Color Riche La Palette Nude in Rose
Lucent Magique Blush Sunset Glow

And the Moist Matte Lipstick in Blaze of Red to end.

I hope you like the look, do let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Also what look are you sporting this Diwali?

P.S.: I wanted to record a video for this look, but my camera battery charger is not working. I have been going crazy in finding a charger as even the authorized service center or dealer do not have it and apparently no one stocks accessories. Kind of weird, but how does one use the camera without the charger. Highly disappointed in Nikon!

Maybelline India Blushed Nudes Palette Review, Swatches, Tutorial

Maybelline India Blushed Nudes Palette Review, Swatches, Tutorial

Hi guys,

I have been playing with The Blushed Nudes Palette and also created this look you see here.

What the Company claims: With all the things you’ll love about the new Blushed Nudes Palette, here are a few more:
– 12 rose-gold infused shades
– Easily blend-able
– Creates countless looks
– Compliments every skin tone

MRP: Rs.899/- for 9g

They have 13 different eye shadow combinations given behind, same like in the original Nudes, and that’s a very interesting idea. I can’t wait to try some of these looks.

The packaging of the palette is exactly like the original Nudes Palette and the pricing is also the same. It comes with a small applicator which has a sponge tip on one side and a brush on one side. The brush is pretty good for using in the inner corners or highlighting brow bone.

The palette is quite handy and small to carry along. It does not come with a mirror sadly, I would have loved a mirror.

The original Nudes Palette had all warm shades and more of browns, this palette has more pinks and grays and all cool toned shades. While the original Nudes Palette was supposed to pretty similar shades wise to the Urban Decay Naked Palette, this one the Blushed Nudes is very close shade wise to the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette.

If you follow me on Snapchat (bhumika_t), you must have seen a comparision of this palette with the same one in US and the shades are quite different, a lot of you took screenshot of that image coz the palette was quite different. I believe the US palette has more pinks and mauves and lighter shades and those shades might not show up on all Indian skintones, so they kept more of greys and darker shades in the Indian palette.

There are mostly satin finish shades, with one deep plum shade being shimmery and there are two mattes. One is a greyish taupe shade which is not that pigmented and the other is a matte white shade which is pretty decent.

Most of the shades are pretty pigmented while few are not that good and need a lot of layering for the colors to show up. But they stay on pretty good throughout the day once applied, more longer with a primer. They do not crease but the finish is not as fresh and slightly fade at the end of the day.

Here are the swatches:

TOP ROW:

The top row has all whites, peaches and pinks

BOTTOM ROW:

The bottom row has greys, taupes and purples.

I created this pink smokey eye look with this palette..

Overall I would say, this is a decent palette and worth checking out. We do not have many palette options available in India, and hardly any cool toned or pink-gray based. For the price, this is definitely pretty good. I do recommend this.

I hope you liked the look, do let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Have you tried the new Maybelline Blushed Nudes Palette yet?

Easy Blue Smokey Eyes Makeup Tutorial | Drugstore | Indian Makeup

Easy Blue Smokey Eyes Makeup Tutorial | Drugstore | Indian Makeup

Hi guys,

I created this easy blue smokey eyes using just two products i.e. Maybelline Sapphire Blue Colorsensational 3D Eyeshadow Palette and Colorbar Eyeshadow Crayon in Moss.

I hope you like the look.

Products used:

Sephora Smoothing Primer
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation
Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Concealer
Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Powder
Revlon Nearly Naked Medium Deep Powder
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter
Marks & Spencer Blush Damson
Maybelline Colorsensational 3D Eyeshadow Palette Sapphire Blue
Colorbar Eyeshadow Crayon Moss
Maybelline Super Black Colossal Kajal
PAC Eyeliner Pen
Rouge Bunny Rouge Alchemy Eyebrow Pencil
Essence Lash Princess Mascara
MAC Flamingo Park Collection Cremesheen Glass Such Sweeties

I liked this Maybelline Palette but they do need a base eyeshadow/pencil for the colors to show up. The highlight shade was pretty good, black one had a lot of fall out though.

I love this Colorbar eyeshadow crayon and these are fabulous even on their own when you don’t want an all out look but some nice color and definition.

Do let me know your thoughts in the comments below 🙂

Makeup Tutorial: Fall/Winter Smokey Eyes | Indian Skin Tone

Makeup Tutorial: Fall/Winter Smokey Eyes | Indian Skin Tone

Hi guys,

I created this deep green/burgundy matte smokey eyes which is fall appropriate using the Starlooks September Revival Kit. Though it has matte bright pink lipstick, I would pair this smokey eyes with a deep wine/burgundy fall/winter lip color 🙂

Here is the video..

Read more about Starlooks in my previous post HERE. I love the idea of Starlooks having small, travel-sized products coz no one can finish their entire eye shadows and blushes, I can’t even finish lipsticks with the number I have! I absolutely loved the matte shadows and the matte lipstick. The eye shadow duo is perfect for fall and hence I created this fall, smokey look. Though the pigmentation is slightly low and you have to go over with the eye shadow 2-3 times. And it has deep teal green mini mascara which looks almost black though.

Starlooks Revival September 2015 Looksbook Mini Kit contains:

* Rawr Lipstick : A bold matte hot pink shade. But it might need a dash of lip balm beneath else it may end up looking a bit dry. My favourite in the palette, love this. Decently pigmented and completely matte

* Agave Eye Shadow duo: A mini matte eyeshadow duo, it features a red agave & green agave shade. Both are earthy shades, leaning towards an olive green and a burgundy. Since these are matte, they are not very pigmented and required me layer and go over my shadows 2-3 times, but they definitely gave a nice matte smokey look

* Flora Mascara: A deep teal mascara which looks almost black, love the brush, it gave nice volume to the lashes and did not clump much.

The eye shadow duo is very fall appropriate, I would have loved if the lipstick would have been a deep matte plum, the kit would be a perfect fall kit then. Though I love the lipstick, plum shade would have worked very well this eyeshadow duo.

June My Envy Box Review

June My Envy Box Review

Hi guys,

This month’s My Envy Box is the bomb! I just love it..

Read more about My Envy Box HERE and check out all the previous reviews HERE.

MRP: Rs.850/- (Available HERE)

This time its a bright coral box, I love the color <3 I like the revised packaging since April where there is only one card with all the product details and not 5 different cards. This month’s box has two full sized products!

Let’s see what all I got..

  • Catrice Smokey Eye Pencil in Petroling In The Deep which is a deep sea green (Full size– Rs.365/-)
  • Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oil (2 x 3ml each)
  • Hedonista Chocolate Face Soufflé- Full size (Rs.1650/- for 115g)
  • Estee Lauder Pleasures EDT sample vial
  • Natio Meditate Hand Cream– Deluxe Sample 20ml

I am in love with every product this time which is a part of the box, there have always been 1-2 products in My Envy Box every month which have been my favourites, but I like all the 5 products the first time :p

A full sized Catrice Eye Pencil, I love smokey eye pencils which are perfect for those 2 minute makeup days. I am quite excited to try this and might review this soon 🙂

I am currently using the Kerastase Elixir Ultime Oil and Beautifying Cream. Though the original bottle is not that big to carry, but these 3ml vials are perfect for travel. I am loving the oil and these vials are definitely coming along with me, on my next trip 😀

Hedonista Chocolate Face Souffle is a chocolate and clay based mask, now who doesn’t love chocolate. Never tried this brand but the packaging and the mask look super yummy and nice.

Estee Lauder Pleasures is a classic, and I absolutely love its smell.

And lastly the Natio Meditate Pink Lotus Hand Cream which smells divine and works pretty well as a hand cream <3

Overall I would say this month’s My Envy Box is a total paisa vasool and I quite like it. Highly recommended! Get the June box now, if you haven’t yet placed the order. I received the box today and reviewing it today itself, so that you guys can place your orders 🙂

Trending Eye Makeup Tips from Jenna Menard

Trending Eye Makeup Tips from Jenna Menard, Clinique Global Colour Artist New York

Clinique Global Colour Artist New York based Jenna Menard has shared tips on the application of eye make up while answering interesting queries such as make the eye make up pop while wearing glasses and to avoid creasing with powder eye make up bursting some myths about powder eye make up. Please do credit her with any tips you my use.

Clinique has recently launched the All About Shadow, All About Shadow Primer for Eyes and Quickliner For Eyes Intense range for a long lasting eye make up that gives a perfect finish and definite style.

Jenna Menard, Clinique Global Colour Artist On Eye Makeup

Best tip to apply eye liner
When applying eye liner, keep it as close to your lash line and work from there. There should be no space between your lash line and the eyeliner. Using the side of a pencil allows you to apply a straighter line rather than using the tip-drag the liner along the lash line to help create a straight line.

I also love blending liners all over the lid and then using the same shade to draw that more intense line closer to your lash line. Keep sharpened if you are trying to get a precise line.

Creating a smokey eye effect

I love layering eye shadow over eyeliner in order to create dimension through different textures. Smudging a soft liner and topping with a shadow creates a smokey eye that is easy to achieve and will last throughout the day. Rather than black, I gravitate towards creating smokey eye looks with color.

Colour to compliment your eyes :

Colour is a great way to compliment your eyes. There are certain colours that will make your natural eye color pop-the same goes with certain clothes that you wear. Many people believe that black or dark eyeliner will bring out their eyes more but that is not usually the case only because it becomes overpowering and it becomes more of a distraction rather than a compliment.

·        Green -purple shades will brighten your eyes.
·        Brown- gold/bronzes work well with brown eyes

Make the eyes appear larger

Using a slightly lighter shimmer shade on the inner corners of your eye, curl your eyelashes, extend eyeliner slightly past the lash line to give the illusion of larger eyes, add bottom mascara, use a gray or brown liner shade rather than black.

Mistakes with the eye make up

They are not willing to experiment or try different things. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with your makeup. Each day try something slightly different.

If you are used to using only a beige/champagne/nude powder eye shadow try a subtle shade in a different texture. This small change will open doors for you.

A modern way to wear bright eye shadow

Using 2 various shades of a bright color and layering them to create a bright eye shadow look. You can do the same with an eyeliner and a shadow, cream shadow and a powder shadow, 2 powder shadows etc. If you feel daring try a combination of 3

Prevent eye shadow from creasing

Preparing the lid with a cream base or eye shadow primer is your best bet. Only a touch of product is needed to help with the creasing problem. It’s just as important to blend the product you are using as a primer as it is to blend the shadow that is going on top.

Women who wear glasses use shadow to make their eyes pop

Glasses paired with a strong eye is a great look. To out-power glasses, the key is making shadow visible. A light wash of one shade may not be enough. Layer a few bold colours or create a graphic shape and work those lids under the glasses.

Some of the biggest myths about powder shadows
·        Eye shadow doesn’t look good on me. Women love to say this about things they don’t know how to apply!
·        Eye shadow makes me look more tired. Select shadows in complimentary shades to your skin tone and they will make               your eyes pop.
·        Eye shadow is impossible to put on. It takes practice, so start easy.
·        Powder shadows never stay on. With the proper products and formula they will.

Great colour combinations

·        French Vanilla, Sunset Glow, Graphite (all singles)
·        Wave after Wave (duo) with Pacific Coast (single)
·        Day into Night (duo) with Peach Pop (single)
·        Starlight Starbright (duo) with At Dusk (single)
·        Jenna’s Essentials Quad: A palette that complements any shade combination.
·        Galaxy Quad: Amazing colour that can be worn individually or all together.

The Body Shop Color Crush Eyeshadows Review, Swatches

The Body Shop Color Crush Eyeshadows Brownie & Clyde, Moonlight Kiss Review, Swatches

I had mentioned about my The Body Shop Haul HERE..I am reviewing those two color crush eye shadows today. What the Company claims: An intensely pigmented, eye-shadow with a silky-soft texture. It’s easy to blend and great for building layers of colour. Dermatalogically and Ophthalmologically tested. Suitable for contact lens wearers.

This comes in a small single pan plastic packaging..but its quite sturdy and clicks shut…the eyeshadow pan can always be depotted if you wish to..

225 Brownie & Clyde is a pearl finish taupe brown..a perfect everyday neutral shade..you can wear to work..and add some smokiness or smudge a kohl beneath for turning it to a night look..

015 Moonlight Kiss is a perfect matte black..super duper pigmented..and stays for hours..no fall outs, no creasing..

Why a perfect matte black eye shadow is an absolute necessity in your makeup kit ?

  • For black smokey eyes ofcourse
  • For any smokey eyes..to intensify the smokiness in the outer corners.
  • To be used as a liner…with a slanted angular brush
  • To set your kohl and make it stay all day..just use a cotton bud and dip into your matte black eyeshadow and layer the kohl with it..this would absorb the moisture and kohl stays longer.
  • For easy soft smokey eyes, just smudge some kohl and a matte black eyeshadow lightly.

These are silky smooth in texture and super duper pigmented..especially the Moonlight Kiss..do not crease and stay put whole day !

Here are the swatches..

Pros:

1. Super smooth texture.

2. Amazing pigmentation.
3. Does not crease or fade.
4. Stays put whole day.
5. Available in 11 shades.
6. Can be used both wet and dry..and more rich when used wet.

Cons:

1. A little expensive but if I compare them to MAC..these are quite affordable.

Overall I love these..both these shades are my absolute favorites..Sugar Glaze and Caramel Flirt are pretty too..I love taupes so chose Brownie & Clyde..a good everyday neutral and a rich matte black eyeshadow every girl should have and I found my black ! Highly recommend these..Moonlight Kiss is much better in terms of texture and pigmentation compared to MAC Carbon eyeshadow..and both are 1.5g.

Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes 103 Review, Swatches

Ingredients: Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Mica, C30-45 Alkyl Dimethicone,Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Silica Dimethyl Silyate, Stearyl Dimethicone, Polysilicone-11, Cera Alba, Dicalcium Phosphate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate. MRP: Rs. 1950/-

Comes in 14 shades..from browns to greys to golds, bronze, taupes, green, blue..there is something for everyone..

Ellis Faas products come in silver pen packaging with an inbuilt brush for eyes and both brush and sponge for lips..for all pens you get out the product by turning the base of the pen clockwise. I loved the packaging..its quite unique..though at times you get more product out..so it does lead to wastage too..

The first time it does take time..and it needs about 25-30 clicks for the product to come out..and once you see it coming, just one click..better be slow or else too much product would ooze out..

E103 Deep Black is the most darkest, richest, pigmented black I have ever seen !! And boy, does it set once dry..it does’nt budge at all..this would give you the most easiest, quickest, fool proof smokey eyes possible ! The harsh edges can be blended going towards the crease with the fingers for a softer look..or a prominent cat eye shape..it can also be used as a liner..but I would suggest dipping your liner/angular brush into the product and lining..if you are not a fan of thick lines..the same way you can use your eyeshadow brush and build up your smokey eyes slowly..if you want more softer effect..

This does stay put whole day with very minimal fading..but no creasing at all..

Here I have used it all over with some blending towards crease and on the outer half of lower lash line and highlighted the brow bone and inner corners with NYX Jumbo Pencil in Yogurt..your go to 2 minute Smokey Eyes !

Pros:

1. Quite unique and nice packaging.
2. Rich Darkest Black ever seen.
3. Settles to a matte finish and does not budge at all.
4. Very minimal fading at the end of whole day but no creasing.
5. Comes off easily.
6. Can be used as a liner too.
7. Perfect for quick smokey eyes.
8. Works great as a base for all your deep smokey eyes.
9. No animal testing and no parabens.

Cons:

1. Expensive.
2. Available online..you can order it HERE
3. Sometimes excess product comes out and goes waste.

Overall I really love this..and I wish it would have been a little cheaper..I would have loved to own all the shades ! I surely recommend it..particularly this black if you love smokey eyes…coz it can be used in any way..as a liner, as a base, on its own for black smokey eyes..would also recommend E104 Grey Brown, E105 Deep Warm Taupe, E114 Bordeaux Red
