My Experience at the L’Occitane Spa La Vie,Mumbai

About: Live the Spa Life.. live Spa Vie by L’OCCITANE.

Welcome to an 8000 sqft Mediterranean Wellness Sanctuary in a magnificent standalone building hidden away but yet right in the heart of the hustle bustle of South Mumbai. Come escape to our Water ensconced Lounge before or after your treatment, indulge in Provencal inspired rituals on a heated stone Hammam bed, pamper the body and the face with our Shea from Burkina Faso and Immortelle from Corsia, enjoy well-being soaking ceremonies in free standing Bathtubs in every treatment room, feel refreshed in your private steam chamber after a revitalizing signature aromachologie massage, spend soulful moments in the VIP Couple’s Suites, host an intimate Spa Soiree with your friends and embrace freshness with the 20 feet living Green Wall in the Spa courtyard.

This post is long long due, I had been to L’Occitane Spa La Vie at Lodha Bellissimo in Jan. The entrance of the spa itself is beautiful and the entire area so quiet and nice.

Just after the reception area, there is this long sofa and comfortable chairs, a fabulous seating area. An artificial small pond Faux De Provence created on the side. Opposite to the seating area are all L’Occitane products which you can check out and/or buy.

Services and Rates

I filled up a questionnaire which had basic questions about my health and my problem areas. My problem areas were the back and neck mostly coz of working whole day on the computer. I was suggested the Relaxing Aromachologie Massage which is a mix of Swedish, Accupressure and Balinese techniques.

MRP: Rs.3250/-

Duration: 60mins

I was offered ginger tulsi green tea and a hot compress. My shoes were changed and I was given a pair of osho slippers. I visited the entire spa and all the different rooms. L’Occitane Spa La Vie is the only spa in Mumbai to have hammam too. They also have a separate room for a spa party where 6 people can enjoy being pampered at a time..perfect idea for a bride and her bridesmaids.

The couples’ room is also amazing and spacious with a bath tub and the option of a common bathroom too.

I was given a white bathrobe to change and my feet and legs were washed at first. Then the massage started with the hands and then the therapist moved towards the legs. After which I had to turn around and she concentrated on the back and neck. I can’t even describe how relaxing and nice it was. I had dozed off to sleep, though she was asking in between if the pressure was fine and bearable. She had also sprayed a pillow mist which smelled so awesome, that it immediately relaxes and induces one to sleep.

Hammam- See the showers at the top

RELAXING PILLOW MIST: Associating the tranquilizing virtues of essential oils natural 100% (lavender, tea tree and geranium) and an extract of flower of linden tree, this pillow mist calms tensions and soothe nerves. Its aromatic fragrance helps ease away stress and anxiety and promotes a peaceful, repairing sleep! (Surely buying it next!)

I have no idea when the 60 minutes passed and I was like why 🙁 I wanted it to go on and on 😀 I was given the option of having a bath but the therapist suggested to let the oils stay on the skin for them to get absorbed and hence I kept them.

It was a serene and calming experience. Highly recommend it to everyone. Book an appointment today at LoveOfSpa.com

I was invited to the Powai branch of the Four Fountains Spa..as that is convenient for me too. Upon arriving..you can feel the whole relaxed and aromatic environment..they check your appointment and take your details and also make you sign a disclaimer..well thats their job..

They take a stress test..and then suggest you therapies according to your stress level..I was in the high stress category and my shoulder area has always been a pain..so I was suggested head, neck, shoulder massage..but I was somehow keen on the body wrap..and did not wish to go for the head massage..I have previously always got massages and mud body wraps done and liked them..so I selected the Bastar Mitti Body Wrap.

About the wrap: Every body wrap begins with a body polish. After the body polish a mask is applied over the body. The mask is usually made of mud, clay and other natural substances that help rid the body of toxins through metabolic stimulation. After the mask is applied a sheet is snugly wrapped around the body, creating a kind of thermal blanket that promotes sweating and aids in the emptying of unnecessary interstitial fluid, or the fluid located between the small spaces of body tissues. Body wraps improve the texture and appearance of skin by removing excess fluid and toxins from the body. They firm loose skin, treat the unsightly appearance of cellulite, soften the skin and give a boost to the lymphatic system and metabolism.

Bastar Mitti Body Wrap begins with a Jasmine Body Polish. It is followed by application of a Bastar Mitti mask, specially sourced from the Bastar region in Central India, which balances the skin’s oiliness and helps lighten the skin.

Bastar Mitti is a type of soil found in the Bastar region of Chattisgarh. The soil is said to have excellent lightening and healing properties.

The prices vary according to the location..at the Powai branch it is Rs.1899/- on weekdays and Rs.2099/- on weekends..

It includes the Jasmine body polish too..which separately costs Rs.1349/- on weekdays and Rs.1549/- on weekends..well I would obviously suggest anyone to go for the wrap..coz with just 550 extra you can get the body wrap done too..

Jasmine Body polish is a spa therapy that uses a blend of oils with fine grains of salt to exfoliate the skin. Exfoliation through body polishes helps to reduce build up of dead skin cells and stimulate new cell growth. It is followed by the application of emollient lotions to soften skin.

Jasmine Body Polish uses a blend of Jasmine and Ylang-Ylang essential oils and Dead Sea salt to exfoliate the skin. It balances the skin’s oiliness, helps control acne and blemishes and at the same time softens and smoothes the skin.

Jasmine essential oil is also widely used for Aromatherapy since it acts as an anti-depressant.

I had a masseuse named Anjana who guided me through the session..there was a small room with dim lighting and soft music..and a massage table and an attached bathroom. The towels, pillow and disposable UGs were arranged on it..

The session lasts for an hour..with 30 mins of the Jasmine Body Polish followed by 30 mins of Body wrap..with bathing after each..the body polish was indeed good…I could feel the exfoliation and blood circulation on the skin..and the smell of jasmine and ylang ylang oil..and as the shoulders were my pain area..Anjana was told to concentrate on the shoulders.

Later after bath..the body wrap followed..and after the application the body was wrapped in a plastic sheet with a towel above..it was to be kept on for 20 mins…Anjana kept cotton soaked in rose water on my eyes..and the body felt warm and cozy.. I dozed off those 20 mins..felt super relaxed.

After the bath..I felt super light and amazing..skin was as soft as a baby’s bum..and they offered green tea at the end..For me, it was quite a good experience..and I like the fact that they are reasonably priced for a spa..and they have some membership cards too..where you get happy hours on weekdays..and its a prepaid card..and you get double the amount of services..and its valid all over India and can be used by anyone.

Things I think could be improved on are..all the rooms were quite close to the reception area..and the noises in between don’t allow you the desired peace..but I agree that space is an issue in Mumbai..may be sound proof doors could be an option..secondly there should be white lights too in the room..so that changing and all before and after gets easier..and the flash in my cam showed the dirty walls in the room..cleaner walls may be..

Overall the spa experience was great and the masseuse was good enough..and the jasmine body polish and bastar mitti body wrap indeed made my skin super soft..I cannot stop touching it 😀
