The Body Shop Moringa Hand Cream Review

The Body Shop Moringa Hand Cream Review

By Archana

Hand cream is an essential item in my handbag always during winters. I can’t survive without hand creams during this cold, dry season. Recently, I had gone to TBS to purchase a gift for a friend’s birthday and as the SA was giving me a whiff of various fragrances to try, I loved the Moringa variant fragrance and got tempted to picked the hand cream from the range. Read on to know how ‘The Body Shop Moringa Hand Cream’ fares.

Products claims: This flowery Moringa daily hand cream helps soften and protect hands with light, juicy moisture. The instantly absorbing formula is ideal for on-the-go hydration. Non-greasy moisture. Wonderfully light gel-cream formula. Absorbs instantly. Enriched with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter from Ghana.

Ingredients:

Directions to use: Squeeze a small amount onto hands and massage well.

Packaging:

The hand cream comes in a compact, sleek tube packaging with a tiny black screw cap. The tube is shiny with a very pale yellowish green color. The full ingredients list is mentioned on the back side. I find the packaging very travel friendly as it fits easily in a handbag or even a purse without taking too much space. Also, there is no leakage or spillage whatsoever.

Texture and fragrance:

The cream has a pale yellowish color with a medium consistency, not too thick or too thin. The fragrance is light floral jasmine scent similar to the other products in the Moringa range. Though it is a floral fragrance, it is not very feminine, so its actually a unisex product.

My experience:

The Body Shop Moringa Hand Cream is made with cold-pressed seed oil from hand-picked moringa pods. I squeeze a pea sized amount of the cream and rub it in my hands while massaging. It spreads and blends easily due to its right consistency and gets absorbed completely in a couple of seconds. The fragrance lingers for a while and yes, the scent is a little strong, so that whenever I apply this hand cream in office, my team mates ask where is this jasmine fragrance coming from and start looking around! 🙂

It moisturizes and nourishes my hands instantly and relieves the dry feeling. The moisturization effect lasts for around 3 hours or till you wash your hands. Since it gets absorbed quickly, you can go back to your work immediately without worrying about the cream transferring to other items. Unlike some hand creams which I have used in the past, they used to stain my keyboard with the cream stains if I start typing without waiting for it to be fully absorbed. With this Body Shop cream, I haven’t faced any such issues.

However, this cream might not be for very dry hands. I was travelling for sometime last month and stopped using the cream during that time. After the travel, I fell sick. As I had neglected my hands for a long time, they became very dry and started peeling due to the cold. My hands started itching and there were rashes on my fingertips. During that time, when I tried this hand cream, it didn’t work for me at all. I apply the cream and barely within two minutes, my hands started feeling dry once again. I had to go back to my trusted savior, The Body Shop Cocoa Body Butter, to heal my hands.

Pros:

* Moisturizes and nourishes hands adequately.

* Gets absorbed quickly.

* Does not make hands greasy.

* Doesn’t leave any residue which might transfer to other items while working.

* Nice floral jasmine fragrance.

* Compact, travel-friendly packaging.

Cons:

* Not suitable for very dry skin.

Price and quantity: Rs.350 for 30ml.

Rating: 4.2/5

Verdict:  The Body Shop Moringa Hand Cream is a perfect go-to cream to have in your work desk in office and in your handbag wherever you go. It is light, gets absorbed quickly without any greasiness and has a lovely floral fragrance. However, if you have extremely dry skin, then it might not be suitable for you.

Editor’s Note: Sounds refreshing for summers, I might give it a try in summers. I love the L’Occitane hand creams though, especially lavender. Also currently loving the Crabtree & Evelyn.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil First Impressions

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil First Impressions

Hi guys,

I have been using the new Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil since a week now and here are my first impressions about it.

What the Company claims: Infused with three precious seed oils and a blend of seven essential oils, we’ve created the Oils of Life™ Intensely Revitalizing Facial Oil. The lightweight and quickly absorbing texture leaves a non-sticky finish, melting onto the skin, leaving it silky and soft. Instantly, skin appears smoother, more radiant, revived, revitalized and nourished. After 4 weeks, the signs of aging appear reduced, wrinkles appear minimized, and skin feels more elastic and firm.

How to use: This dermatologically tested oil can be applied every morning and evening before applying a cream. Apply 1 to 2 drops maximum (2-3 for very dry skin) onto the face and neck and gently massage into the skin. Follow with one of our Oils of Life moisturizers.

MRP: Rs.3095/- for 30ml

Ingredients:

It comes in a sleek and nice golden yellow glass bottle with a black dropper dispensor. The packaging is very convenient to use, though I am not sure how travel friendly it would be coz of the glass.

I love using oils on my face, using oils and serums at night is something I have been following since years and it really works amazing. Oils can be used even by people with oily skin, what it does it balances the oil secretion of the skin and also has amazing properties for revitalizing, firming and hydration of the skin. Different oils have different properties and this time Body Shop has come up with a combination of three special seed oils i.e Black Cumin, Camellia and Rosehip.Cold pressed seed oils are the purest form of oils and all their properties remain preservedIt also has a lot of other oils like Olive Oil as a base, Lavender Oil, Jojoba oil , Orange Peel Oil, etc.

I use 2-3 drops of it every night and massage it well on the skin, it has a complete dance routine massage video on their youtube channel. The smell is not unpleasing, it is nice, I do smell a hint of lavender and I really like lavender oil.

The oil is super light in texture and absorbs in a jiffy. Skin next day is super moisturised and plump, there is no redness or dryness. My skin was feeling very dry and stretchy as the winters had started, especially in the mornings, also coz of the AC at night. But since the time I have been using this, there are no dry patches and no stretchiness.

It also claims to have firming and anti-ageing properties, I cannot comment on it right now and would do a full review on it, post using it for a month.

It is slightly on the expensive side but all oils and serums in this category are almost in the same range. And since you need just 2-3 drops per use, this will easily last months

Overall I would say, I definitely recommend trying this out, especially if you love serums and oils. This is just a perfect blend of all the goodness of oils.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub, Body Butter, Body Splash Review

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub, Body Butter, Body Splash Review

Hi guys,

If you know I have running an Instagram contest for this new Virgin Mojito Range from The Body Shop, I also got a chance to try a few products from this new range and here is my review on it.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Scrub

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1295/- for 250ml

It comes in the same plastic jar as the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub and has the same gel like texture and consistency with white and green fine granules. I already love the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub and loving this too, this one smells more refreshing and exactly like Mojito! It leaves the skin gently exfoliated and soft without any greasiness or heaviness.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Splash

What the Company claims: The Body Shop brings you an innovative, brand-new fragrance format! With a zingy fragrance, our NEW Limited Edition Virgin Mojito Body Splash lets you splash on the crisp, refreshing scent of lime and fresh mint after the shower to extend the feeling of freshness all day. Innovative way to apply our new fragrance Light and fast-drying With the extract of Caribbean mint and lime Made with Community Fair Trade Organic Cane Sugar from Paraguay

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1395/- for 300ml

This is the first time The Body Shop has come up with a Body Splash, I think it is launched in place of the Body Mist. It is a thin, runny water like liquid which you just need to rub all over your body after a bath or after using the body butter. It evaporates quickly leaving behing a nice whiff of lime and mint. Again very, very refreshing. Only con would be it doesn’t stay that long on it’s own and over the body butter, it stays for like 3-4 hours. I would have loved if it stayed longer for at least 5-6 hours.

The Body Shop Virgin Mojito Body Butter

What the Company claims: Smooth on fresh hydration with our Limited Edition Virgin Mojito Body Butter, refreshingly fragranced with a twist of zesty lime and the scent of fresh mint. Up to 24-hr fresh hydration Lightweight texture Suitable for normal skin With the extract of Caribbean lime and mint Made with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter from Ghana

Ingredients:

MRP: Rs.1095/- for 200ml

As I had mentioned in my previous Fuji Green Tea Range Review, that I am not a fan of The Body Shop Body Butters and I prefer the Body Lotions as my skin is not very dry and I do not like rich and heavy creams except in extreme winters which is rare in a humid city like Mumbai.

I was expecting this to be of the same formulation as the Fuji Green Tea Body Butter but this one was very rich and heavy. I compared the ingredients of both and I found that the Fuji Green Tea Body Butter only had soybean oil and shea butter as the rich ingredients whereas this Virgin Mojito Body Butter contains cocoa butter, shea butter, beeswax, soybean oil and sesame oil as the rich ingredients and that makes it very heavy.

I would be using this Virgin Mojito Body Butter only in the 2 months of Mumbai winters, but otherwise I still prefer the Fuji Green Tea one coz it is very light and non greasy. If you are someone who has very dry skin, the Virgin Mojito Body Butter is perfect for you! It is very moisturizing and hydrating. Also for someone who feels itchiness due to dry skin or is developing stretch marks, this one will give your skin the much needed moisture.

Overall I would say this range is very, very refreshing coz of the fresh lime and mint. It would have been amazing if this range would have been launched in the summers. I love the Body Scrub and the new Body Splash too, the Body Butter is slightly rich for me but when everything is used together, the smell stays on much longer.

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, Body Butter Review

The Body Shop Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, Body Butter Review

Hi guys,

A few weeks ago The Body Shop launched their new Fuji Green Tea Range with Miss Malini & Jacqueline Fernandez at The Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. I have created this short vlog from the event for you guys..

The Body Shop India also sent us this lovely hamper which had their new Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub & Body Butter, Green Tea Bags, a glass brewer and a mug, also a cute Japanese hand fan.

I have been using the Body Scrub & Body Butter since quite a few days now, and here is my review 🙂

FUJI GREEN TEA™ BODY SCRUB

What the Company claims: Perfect for cleansing and exfoliating, the crisp and refreshing scent of Fuji Green Tea™ Body Scrub helps to lift away dead skin cells, detox the body, and prepare skin for moisture. Discover more about the Green Tea Ceremony → • Lifts away dead skin cells • Infused with replenishing green tea from Japan • For healthy looking skin • Enriched with Community Fair Trade Honey from Ethiopia

MRP: Rs.1295/- for 250ml

How to use: Apply to damp skin in a circular motion, then rinse thoroughly for refreshingly smooth skin. For best results, use two to three times a week.

Ingredients:

Now I have tried many body scrubs from coffee to sea salt and sugar, etc., but mostly all the body scrubs are oil based i.e. the have almond oil or olive oil, etc as their base. Though the base oil leaves the skin moisturized but sometimes it is difficult to get rid of and when it is humid, I prefer a light, non greasy feeling on my skin.

The Body Shop always makes gel based body scrubs which are easy to use and do not leave a heavy oily feeling on the skin, the Wild Argan Oil Body Scrub was one such scrub. And coming to this Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub, it is even more light and smells very refreshing.

It is a transparent gel base with small white particles and green beads. I am not a fan of green tea smell but this actually smells very light and refreshing and not at all of strong green tea which I had thought it would.

I like the slightly curved top packaging with a steel cap and a transparent see through tub.It is very gentle when it comes to exfoliating and leaves my skin squeaky clean with a hint of the refreshing smell.

I quite like the body scrub, and it is one of my favourite body scrubs now.

FUJI GREEN TEA™ BODY BUTTER

Smooth on replenishing hydration, while detoxing body and soul, with the crisp and refreshing scent of Mini Fuji Green Tea™ Body Butter. Discover more about the Green Tea Ceremony. • Intense hydration for all skin types • 24-hr hydration • Lightweight texture • With revitalizing green tea from Japan • For healthier feeling skin • Enriched with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter from Ghana

MRP: Rs.1095/- for 200ml

How to use: Massage into skin. Be generous! It works even better when applied straight after a bath or shower. Insider’s tip: Massage into skin after using the Fuji Green Tea Body Scrub to help your moisturizer penetrate better.

Ingredients:

Now I have never been into body butters, I prefer body lotions always, coz I find body butters very rich on my skin. I do use them in winters when my skin is very dry but for rest of the time, I like body lotions which are light and absorb easily.

This is the first Body Butter from The Body Shop which I absolutely loved coz it is super light in texture and does not at all feel rich like butter.

It comes in a round tub packaging like all other The Body Shop Body Butters. It is light green in color and though butter like in texture, blends really well and gets absorbed instantly with no greasiness left behind.

Again has a light, refreshing smell and when the body scrub and body butter are used together, the smell lingers on for quite some time.

The skin stays hydrated and moisturized throughout the day, I don’t really reapply but if you have very dry skin, you can always reapply at night.

The entire range consists of Exfoliating Soap, Eau De Cologne, Body Sorbet, Body Scrub, Body Lotion, Body Wash and Body Butter. I absolutely love the Eau De Cologne, it is so refreshing and smells amazing.

They have a 20% off when you buy 3 products from this range offer going on currently on their site. I absolutely recommend trying this range and especially the body scrub and body butter if you are already into scrubbing and using body butters. Even if you are someone who prefers lotions, do check out the body butter tester if you have a Body Shop store around coz this is their lightest body butter. You can always get the body lotion otherwise. I am eyeing the Exfoliating Soap and the Eau De Cologne from this range next.

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Sorbet Review

The Body Shop Satsuma Body Sorbet Review

What the Company claims: Scoop an industry first with this cool body moisturiser, infused with zingy satsuma scent! Our breakthrough sorbet texture instantly melts into skin for a frosty burst of fresh moisture. Light and fast-absorbing,leaves body instantly moisturised upto 24 hours of hydration.

MRP: Rs.795/- for 200ml

How to use: Glide onto skin and enjoy the frosted moisture sensation all over your body. Insider’s tip: Put your Body Sorbet in the fridge for an even more refreshing moisture sensation

Variants available: Strawberry (Fruity), Satsuma (Citrusy), Moringa (Floral)

Ingredients:

The Body Shop launched their Body Sorbets in summers which is the apt season to launch this product. It is an industry first, i.e. no other brand has a product like ‘Body Sorbet’.

It comes in the long tube packaging with a flip cap and comes in this 200ml size only. It is slightly huge and not very travel friendly.

I have tried a lot of Strawberry products from The Body Shop and wanted to try some other variant. Moringa was not something I liked the smell of and so I went with Satsuma and I am glad! I absolutely love the citrus burst of Satsuma, it smells like ‘Fresh Orange Juice’.

I avoid heavy and rich moisturisers in summers as they make my skin feel more oily and sweaty, Body Sorbet was a savior in summers as it gave hydration was so light and refreshing that it got absorbed in a jiffy without any greasiness on the skin.

It is light peach in color and thick gel like in texture but very light and water based.

Also when it was scorching hot, I did keep it in the fridge as mentioned in the tip above, and it felt so awesome. Now since the summers have gone and it’s the monsoons, I don’t keep it in the fridge. I am still using it as in Mumbai as it is never cold and mostly summers here throughout the year except 2 months.

It is slightly on the expensive side of course as around 800 bucks is a lot for 200ml body moisturizer, but you don’t need a lot with this as it spreads well. And also it does not provide 24 hours hydration obviously. This will only work in summers and for someone with normal to oily skin.

Overall I would say, try this in summers or if you live in a hot, humid city. You will absolutely love this. I will not recommend it for people with very dry skin as this will not suffice the moisturisation your skin needs.

The Body Shop Red Musk Eau De Parfum Review

The Body Shop Red Musk Eau De Parfum Review

What the Company claims: Defy conventions with Red Musk™ Eau de Parfum. Combining spiced musk with hot notes of cinnamon and intense tobacco for a distinctly different fragrance. No flowers – just a bold blend of musk and spice.Contains cruelty-free musk Lasting eau de parfum Enriched with Community Fair Trade Alcohol from Ecuador

MRP: Rs.2995/- for 60ml

To start with, let me tell you I love warm, woody and musky perfumes, so I was bound to love this one!

Top note: Pepper

Middle note: Cinnamon

Base notes: Tobacco, Musk

The Body Shop Red Musk EDP is a mix of spicy and musky. It smells slightly strong in the first whiff after you directly spray it, but after a few minutes, it settles to a perfect, well balanced fragrance.

Though it does not stay very long, I would have loved if it stayed a bit longer.

It comes in the size of 60ml only currently, I think they should launch a 30ml soon which would be more reasonably priced too.

Its more of an unisex perfume even though it is meant for women, coz of the spicy, musky hit.

If you are like me who more often reaches for men’s perfume and likes strong, spicy, musky smell, you will surely love this and I definitely recommend this to you!

It comes in a standard TBS scrub and body butter tub packaging, has the golden and blue print the Argan Oil Range has.

Its light brown in color and is gel like wobbly in texture. The argan and walnut shells are mild enough for body exfoliation including the sensitive parts. It spreads out easily since not too thick and washes out easily too.

It does not leave a sticky, slimy feeling and does not dehydrate the skin too. The texture is just perfect. It helps exfoliating some ingrowth hair on the legs, etc. (not the deep ones though)

Overall, its a decent body scrub and I quite like it. Recommended

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet Review

The Body Shop Vitamin E Aqua Boost Sorbet Review

What the Company claims: An instant cooling sensation for all day hydration. This silky-soft moisturiser hydrates and refreshes skin with an ultra-light light formula. Learn More → Quenches skin’s thirst Feels like a burst of freshness on skin Enriched with wheatgerm oil Enriched with Community Fair Trade Shea Butter

Directions: Apply to face and neck after cleansing and toning using fingertips.

MRP: Rs.1195/- for 50ml

Ingredients:

It comes in a glass jar packaging and is light pink in color. Has a very weird smell though :/

I like water based gel creams and this is exactly that. Super light in texture and absorbs in a jiffy. It feels cool and soothing on application. It does hydrate the skin, but feels a little silicony. It would make as a great primer underneath makeup.

During the current winters though, I do need extra hydration at times, above this. I feel it launched here at a wrong time. This is the perfect summer product. Though Mumbai is humid and we do not see winters here, so it works.

As you can see in the ingredients, wheatgerm oil, soyabean oil, Tocopherol, Parkii Butter are the hydrating ingredients and Vitamin E part.

But I would recommend this for oily skin and/or for use in summers. I would switch back to this in summers. For now since the chill is just beginning to set in, I would switch to a heavier cream.

Also it contains alcohol as per the ingredients which dries skin more, so dry skin would not particularly like this, especially right now. If you have dry skin but live in a humid place like Mumbai, this would still work.

Overall, I would say its a good product. Only issue would be the smell and the alcohol. Would recommend using it for summers.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream Review, Swatches

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream Review, Swatches

What the Company claims: Perfect your complexion and fight the look of blemishes with our Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream. This dual action cream gives you flawless coverage whilst tackling the appearance of blemishes. Formulated with purifying Community Fair Trade organic tea tree oil from Kenya. – Blemishes and imperfections are instantly covered – Lightweight formula gives shine-free complexion – 3 shades blend seamlessly into all skin tones for natural-looking coverage.

MRP: Rs.1095/- for 40ml

How to use: Squeeze BB cream onto fingertips and spread all over face until fully blended. Alternatively, dot gently onto emergency blemishes for on the spot coverage. TOP TIP: For best results, use our Tea Tree Pore Minimiser before applying BB Cream for spotless-looking skin with pores that look smaller and skin that appears smoother and more mattified!

Ingredients:

Shades Available: 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Dark

Here are the swatches of all three shades.

I have the shade 02 which is an almost perfect match for me. 01 had grey undertones, so I would have gone with 02 anyways.

It comes in a small green tube packaging with a beige flip cap. Its small and handy to carry around.

The texture is very soft, it feels like butter (maybe coz of shea butter) and spreads like it too. Just that you need to blend it in well. Its very light weight and does’nt feel like you have applied something on the skin. Gives medium coverage and reduces appearance of redness, etc. It won’t give complete coverage or help with acne scars or dark circles.

Its more like a tinted moisturiser. Stays put whole day, but since its quite rich in texture (coz of shea butter and soyabean oil), one needs to set it with a powder or it might look shiny.

I think its good for everyday use and also the tea tree oil would help against further acne. It has a strong tea tree oil smell which is apparent from the time you squeeze the product out.

Here it is on me.

I do not agree on the complete coverage of acne or blemishes it claims. And also its expensive for the qty coz if you use it everyday, it might last just month or a week above.

Overall, I did like it but not very satisfied with the price tag and qty. And also oily skin needs to powder on top. I would say ‘can try’.

MRP: Rs.1695/- for 28ml

Ok so to start with, let me tell you, I loveee serums and oils…mostly use one every night, if at all, I am not trying out an overnight cream or something. (Which is rare these days..skin on a testing spree :/)

It comes in a small pink glass bottle with a dropper. The serum is transparent and clear..it feels like a very light oil. You just need 2-3 drops, blend in your hands and lightly apply over the face and neck.

It has a sweet fragrance..I am not too fond of perfumes and fragrance in my serums and oils unless it is a natural one like lavender essential oil. If you read the ingredients list above, you see many ingredients being used just for fragrance which I think could have been avoided.

Coming to the texture of it, it is so super light..sinks in the skin under a minute. No oiliness or greasiness. And the skin feels super soft and plump the next day. Vitamin E also helps in fading your acne marks, etc. If you have dry skin or dry patches, it will help you get rid of the patches within a week. Skin feels better and better every morning with regular use.

Pros:

1. Super light in texture.

2. Sinks in the skin and no oiliness or greasiness.

3. Skin feels super soft and plump the next morning…no dry patches.

4. Has a blend of oils in ingredients like wheatgerm, sweet almond, sunflower, jojoba, sesame and Vitamin E and glycerin which are all amazing for the skin.

5. You just need 2-3 drops, so 28ml would last a long time.

6. It may be slightly expensive but when compared to other serums in that category, its half their price.

Cons:

1. Glass bottle not travel friendly.

2. I would have liked it without the added fragrance ingredients.

Overall, I would say its quite nice and perfect for dry to normal skin..works for my combination skin too. Oily skin should try it in winters. I love how skin is more softer and smoother with it, the next morning..and also gets the dose of some hydrating oils in a serum form which is quite light on the skin. Recommended!

I also love the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate, but that it priced at Rs.2750/- for 30ml. If I have to choose one, I would go with Kiehl’s coz I like it a little bit more 😀 But I would definitely suggest trying out this Vitamin E Serum-in-Oil and if you are getting it at 20-30% off on sales, surely grab it!
