Scrub shampoo

MRP: Rs.1845/- for 240ml

Ingredients:

All Body Shop hair care products are silicone free. This whole range smells so fresh and citrusy, it’s very refreshing. The shampoo is clear and runny, it foams and cleanses well. The conditioner is thick to dispense from bottle, but it is not heavy or rich in texture. It does not weigh the hair down. If you have very dry hair, this conditioner won’t be moisturising enough for you. But for oily to normal hair, this conditioner is absolutely perfect.

The star of this range is the hair scrub, it’s a thick scrub with salt-like granules. The thick salt settles down, so you need to mix the scrub well before taking it. It is a scrub shampoo, so it even foams as you massage it on the scalp, the salt starts melting. The scrub is not very harsh or abrasive but it cleanses the scalp well and circulates the blood on the scalp. It also removes dirt, build up, etc., but it is a little drying. I would suggest using it once a week, not more than that.

I start with the scrub, then follow it up with the shampoo. Since the scalp is cleansed well with the scrub, the shampoo foams and cleans easily. Finally the conditioner towards the lower half of the hair.

It’s a thick and waxy balm, it melts in contact with fingers. I had a particular dry patch above my lips since 3-4 months and I tried everything from oils to butters but this patch kept coming back. With this balm, it vanished in just two uses! I was amazed, it is quite rich and is multi purpose as the name suggests. It can be used on elbows, knees, cracked heels, every dry part of the body. It is truly a saviour in winters.

In the Spa of the World Range, two new products have been added. Thai Makrut Lime Firming Oil and French Grape Seed Body Scrub

MRP: Rs.2895/- for 350ml

Ingredients:

My favourite product of all these new launches, has to be this body scrub. It’s a clay based scrub with fine exfoliating granules. It is not at all harsh but still scrubs the skin well. This scrub is literally a spa in a jar! It is exactly like the body scrubs they use in spas. When you take the product on your fingers and start massaging it on the body, it feels slightly warm, I believe it heats up on massaging and in contact with the skin. Then it scrubs the dead skin cells really well without even feeling like a scrub. I assumed it would be a little drying since it’s clay based, but it has oils in it, so in turn it leaves the skin moisturized and my skin feels soft like a baby’s bum! Literally. My skin doesn’t crave a moisturizer after using this, even in these winters. I skipped it once, and it felt fine. This is the best body scrub I have used till now, hands down!

It is neither drying not overly rich/oily. It is nothing like those usual oil/sugar/coffee based scrubs! I highly recommend getting this.

Though I loved all the new launches this time, if I have to absolutely pick a few and recommend, I would go with the Grape Seed Body Scrub and the Fuji Green Tea Hair Scrub! I am sure you will love them!

All 12 The Body Shop India Matte Lip Liquid Review, Swatches

All 12 The Body Shop India Matte Lip Liquid Review, Swatches

Hi guys,

The Body Shop launched their new makeup line, called Jacqueline’s signature line. It has cushion foundation (2 shades), 3 eyeshadow palettes and 12 matte lip liquid i.e. liquid lipsticks.

I swatched all of them for you guys..

Claims: Introducing this season’s hottest lip-color trend, Matte Lip Liquid. Our creamy Matte Lip Liquid provides intense color and a soft matte finish. The non-drying formula provides the perfect way to comfortably wear a bold matte lip this holiday season. Specially formulated to glide on effortlessly like a gloss and set with the rich creamy color and velvety touch of matte lipstick. Our liquid lipstick is long-lasting, lightweight and lusciously soft. And like all our cruelty-free makeup

MRP: Rs.695/- for 8ml

Shades Available: 12

  • Crete Carnation
  • Windsor Rose
  • Taipai Orchid
  • Nairobi Camellia
  • Paris Peony
  • Tokyo Lotus
  • Cali Gerbera
  • Goa Magnolia
  • Tahiti Hibiscus
  • Sydney Amaryllis
  • Sicily Iris
  • Mauritius Dahlia

It comes in the matching shade outer packaging, so the colors are easy to identify. It has a slanted tip applicator and easy to apply.

They have shade names of cities + flowers which is quite interesting. And they have tried to match a few shades with flowers like Orchid.

I love the fruity smell and it feels super light weight on the lips. It settles to a matte finish and is very, very comfortable. I would say this is the most comfortable liquid lipstick I have tried.

The formula reminds me of Miss Claire/NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams but these are lighter than that too. Pigmentation is good, and you need just one swipe of the deeper colors to get opaque coverage.

It doesn’t stay very long though and does not survive a complete meal. It is not completely transfer proof too. Without eating or drinking, it would stay 4-5 hours and would go away completely with food. It doesn’t leave any tint or stain behind, it goes away completely but it very easy to reapply.

But it doesn’t accentuate any dryness or lines on lips. If you love matte lipsticks but want something comfortable and non-drying, these are made for you!

I love that they have different range of shades from pinks to nudes to even berry. I would have liked more browns and berries though, I wish they add more shades in this range soon.

I picked Goa Magnolia and Tahiti Hibiscus. Also liked Mauritius Dahlia and Nairobi Camellia.

I like the price point of 695 and also the quantity is 8ml, which is more than the usual 5-6 ml in liquid lipsticks. I do recommend these!

What is Multi Masking? New The Body Shop Facial Masks Review

What is Multi Masking? New The Body Shop Facial Masks Review

Hey guys,

I have been using the new Body Shop Facial Masks since a few days and here are my thoughts..

First of all, let me tell you a little about multi masking, coz that is how I am using them and loving it. Multi masking is basically using a face mask according to your concern on that particular area on the face. It’s a blessing for people like me who have combination skin coz my T zone is oily and rest of the face is dry/normal. So the clay based masks used overall on the entire face leave my cheeks over dry and craving for moisture.

So I use the clay based masks on my T zone and the more hydrating/nourishing ones on my cheeks and rest of the face.

Claims: 100% VEGETARIAN
Our Himalayan Charcoal, British Rose and Amazonian Acai masks are 100% Vegan
MADE WITHOUT PARABENS, SILICONE, MINERAL OILS & PARAFFINS
FIVE SENSATIONAL NEW FACE MASKS
We’ve crushed, pressed and blended five sensational NEW face masks. Formulated without the addition of parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil – just our finest recipes inspired by nature. Meet our, 100% vegetarian face masks.

Variants:

  • British Rose (Hydrating)
  • Amazonian Acai (Energising)
  • Himalayan Charcoal (Purifying)
  • Ethiopian Honey (Nourishing)
  • Chinese Ginseng & Rice (Brightening)

MRP: Rs.2495/- for 75ml

I have British Rose, Chinese Ginseng & Ricee and Himalayan Charcoal, so would be talking about these three.

Starting with British Rose,

ClaimsFor skin that needs to be quenched and re-plumped with moisture to reveal its dewy glow again. Inspired by the European bathing rituals, our refreshing hydrating face mask is infused with real rose petals, rose essence, rosehip oil and aloe vera. Giving you visibly smoother-looking skin plumped with moisture.

Ingredients:

Himalayan Charcoal

Claims: For skin that needs purification to help reveal a healthy, youthful looking glow. Inspired by traditional beauty remedies, our tingling mud mask contains bamboo charcoal, exfoliating Green Tea leaves & tea tree oil. Purify your skin and give it a new lease of life with our charcoal face mask.

Ingredients:

Chinese Ginseng & Rice

Claims: Inspired by Chinese traditions, our creamy exfoliating mask combines ginseng, rice extract and sesame seed oil and reveals brighter-looking, more even, supple skin.

Ingredients:

As you can see the names in front of each masks, each mask is a recipe from that particular region/tradition and the ingredients as always are also sourced from there organically.

I love the fact that all these masks are paraben, mineral oil and paraffin free.

They come in a sleek glass jar packaging, the jar is quite heavy and they are not very travel friendly. But it is quite thick and won’t break.

The Body Shop also has a wooden handle face mask brush and a hand towel/head band set which you can use for/while applying the masks.

Each of the mask smells really good, you actually feel like you are in a spa getting a nice facial done. The directions say keep the mask on for 5-10 minutes, I keep all for about 10 minutes and the Himalayan Charcoal one untill it dries completely.

The British Rose mask is in a clear gel form with crushed real roses in it. It smells exactly like the British Rose Range they have and is very hydrating and plumping. I love using it on my cheeks, jaw line and neck. The rosehip oil and aloe vera moisturise and hydrate the skin well.

Himalayan Charcoal mask is ash gray in color coz of the bamboo charcoal. It is clay based and thick, I would advise not leaving the jar open and taking the required product and applying it immediately, as it dries super fast. I love using it on my nose and the surrounding areas both side where I have open pores. Since it has tea tree oil and green tea extracts too, it won’t strip off the skin of moisture and also help against acne as tea tree oil is anti bacterial. It tingles as mentioned in the description and as you scrub off the mask, it does leave the skin a little red for some time. But regular use of this would help keep blackheads at bay as it also exfoliates the skin while taking the mask off. I really like this one!

Coming to the Chinese Ginseng & Rice one, it is a white colored thick, grainy paste. You can feel the crushed rice in it, it also mildly exfoliates the skin. Sesame oil moisturises while the Ginseng brightens and evens out the skin. I use it on my forehead and around my mouth where I have some uneven tone. It does brighten the skin a bit, but you have to use it regularly to see difference. You won’t notice it in one go. I love this one too.

Multi Masking

Overall, I am very happy with these and they are pretty good! I wish it was priced a little lower though. I highly recommend trying out 1 at least. If you have oily skin, Himalayan Charcoal one is a must have and for normal/dry skin, Chinese Ginseng & Rice. If you have very dry skin, British Rose is good for you. So select a mask according to your skin type and go with that. They also have sachet samples of each mask online and at all The Body Shop stores. Ask for samples and test them out, before investing in the mask 🙂

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Range Review

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Range Review

Hi guys,

The Body Shop had come up with three limited edition ranges this Christmas, one was Spiced Apple, Frosted Berries and this Vanilla Chai one. I had these three products from the Vanilla Chai range and here are my thoughts..

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Body Butter

Claims: Our Limited Edition Vanilla Chai Body Butter is a rich and delicious-smelling festive treat for softly-sweet skin. The Vanilla Chai scent is warm and inviting, filled with creamy milk and addictive vanilla

– Buttery texture
– Seasonally Sweet Vanilla Chai Scent

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Shower Gel

Claims: Bring a squeeze of seasonal sweetness to your shower with our Limited Edition Vanilla Chai Shower Gel; a deliciously-scented shower gel bursting with vanilla chai fragrance. This warm and inviting scent infused with creamy milk and addictive vanilla, envelops the senses for a relaxing experience.

MRP: Rs.595

Ingredients:

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Foam Bath

Claims: Add a hint of holiday magic to bath time with our Limited Edition Vanilla Chai Bath Foam. The warm and inviting scent, infused with creamy milk and hand-picked vanilla from Madagascar, creates an indulgent spa experience.

– Foaming bubble bath
– Leaves skin smelling beautiful and feeling refreshed
– Seasonally Sweet Vanilla Chai Scent
– Limited Edition

MRP: Rs.1495

Ingredients:

This range comes in a pretty light yellow packaging with the Christmasy print on it. The smell is warm and woody, more of chai than of vanilla. It’s not the light vanilla scent, the strong chai scent is overpowering the vanilla.

But I still love the warm and spicy scent and it’s perfect for the winter season.

I have the Body Butter, Shower Gel and Foam bath. Now I don’t have a bath tub, hence cannot use the Foam Bath in that way, but I add it in a bucket and use it that way. Also it is great for manicures and pedicures at home, those pampering days.

I love the Shower Gel and Body Butter combo, the smells lasts longer when both are used simultaneously. The body butter is slightly thick and rich for my taste and hence it is perfect for current winters. I don’t like using heavy body butters in summers or monsoons in Mumbai.

The shower gel foams and cleanses really well, and skin does not feel overly dry or stretchy. I would recommend trying out this range right now as it is perfect for the season. I am not sure if it is still available, but if it is, do grab the Vanilla Chai range!

Winter Skincare Routine | The Body Shop Vitamin E Range Review + Giveaway

Winter Skincare Routine | The Body Shop Vitamin E Range Review + Giveaway

Hi guys,

I have been using this Vitamin E range for more than 2 weeks now and here are my thoughts..

Vitamin E Cream Cleanser

This light cream cleanser gently lifts away dirt, make-up and impurities.
• Gently but effectively cleanses
• Softens and conditions
• Leaves skin feeling smooth and supple

How to use: Apply to the face and neck with fingertips. Wipe away with a cotton pad or muslin cloth.

MRP: Rs.795/- for 200ml

It comes in a long slender bottle with a flip cap. It’s a little thicker lotion and you need to squeeze the bottle to dispense the product. It takes off the daily dirt and grime from the pores and some basic makeup like a tinted moisturizer/BB Cream, etc. It leaves the skin super soft and moisturized. This won’t work on water proof makeup, so for your heavy duty eye makeup, you will need to use a separate remover.

Vitamin E Moisture Serum

This pre-moisturiser provides intensive, continuous hydration and protection.
• Pre-moisturiser
• Gives extra hydration
• Immediately smoothes skin

How to use: Apply to face and neck using fingertips before moisturising.

MRP: Rs.1295/- for 30ml

It’s a pre moisturizer treatment and also has rice bran oil apart from the basic wheat germ oil this entire Vitamin E Range has. It is very light weight and gel like in texture. You just need half a pump for each use and it does make the moisture locked in the skin for a longer time.

Vitamin E Moisture Protect Emulsion/Day Lotion with SPF

A lightweight, milky formula to moisturise and protect your skin against UVA and UVB damage.

– Locks in moisture for 48 hours of hydration, leaving skin feeling soft and smooth
– Antioxidant properties protects against free radicals
– Powered with Biofermented Hyaluronic Acid

How to use: Apply a pea-sized amount onto fingertips and massage onto the face and neck in an upward motion after your serum. Best applied as part of your morning regime and/or before being exposed to the sun.

MRP: Rs.1495/- for 50ml

This is the new launch in the Vitamin E Range. It comes in a very handy and travel friendly, sleek bottle with black cap and pump packaging. It is very runny, so make sure you pump carefully. I need 1.5 pumps per use and it covers whole face and neck well.

I am glad this has SPF 30 PA+++ protection and works as both moisturizer + sunscreen. I don’t use a separate sunscreen and the biofermented hyaluronic acid keeps the moisture locked in the skin. Even after 5-6 hours my skin is soft and hydrated, and does not feel dry or stretchy even once.

Vitamin E Night Cream

This rich night cream replenishes moisture levels while you sleep.
• Intensively hydrates
• Works when skin is at its most receptive
• Leaves skin soft and smooth

How to use: Apply to face and neck just before bed, after cleansing and toning.

MRP: Rs.1195/- for 50ml

This is the only product out of the 4 I am using  hat is slightly rich. It has Cocoa butter as one of the ingredients and that makes it intensely moisturizing. You just need a pea sized amount and you are good. I prefer a little heavy moisturizer during night time and this is just perfect. My skin is all soft and hydrated even the next morning.

Usually by end of Nov and start of Dec, my skin starts feeling dry and stretchy. I am glad I started using this range early Nov and my skin has not been dry at all this time. No dry spots or flaky skin, it is all plump and hydrated.

I definitely recommend the Vitamin E range, especially for winters. Dry skin definitely can use it throughout the year, but specifically for winters, this range is amazing.

I am giving away two of the products i.e. the cream cleanser and the new day lotion/emulsion to 3 winners on my YouTube, so make sure you participate 🙂

Do let me know your thoughts about this range in the comments below, have you tried it?

The Body Shop Tea Tree Range 3 in 1, Daily Solution Review

The Body Shop Tea Tree Range 3 in 1, Daily Solution Review

Hi guys,

Today I am reviewing these two new products added in The Body Shop Tea Tree Range. I have been using these since about 2.5 weeks now and here are my thoughts..

The Body Shop Tea Tree Range 3-in-1 Wash Scrub Mask

Claims: A clean and mean multi-tasking cleanser with foaming kaolin clay, volcanic minerals and Community Trade Tea Tree Oil that tackles the appearance of clogged pores, blackheads and shine. Perfect for those with blemish-prone skin. Use this triple threat cleanser as: 1. A daily wash to purify 2. A scrub to clear and tighten the appearance of pores and smooth the skin’s surface 3. A mask to deep cleanse and mattify the skin’s appearance

MRP: Rs.1295/- for 125ml

Ingredients:

This is the star product of this range. It’s a wash, scrub, mask all in one. It comes in a green flip cap tube packaging.

It has a white creamy base with small grey-black granules in it. Now when you use it as a face wash, it doesn’t foam and you actually end up using it as a scrub.

So I feel it should have been scrub/mask only. But as a scrub, it works great. It exfoliates very gently and would be perfect for sensitive skin too.

I love using it as a mask though. And then once it is dried, I wet my hands and scrub it, so basically I use it like both, at once 🙂

It dries super quick, in about 5-7 minutes, since it it clay based. It has a tingly, minty smell and feeling. Skin looks clean and completely matte post washing. It feels tighter and the pores look closed. Since it has tea tree and kaolin clay, this mask is absolutely perfect for oily, acne prone skin.

And the fact that it is multi-tasking is nice, as you can carry only this when you are travelling. Recommended.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Range Anti- Imperfection Daily Solution

Claims: Our 100% Community Trade tea tree oil is infused into the NEW Anti-Imperfection Daily Solution for just the right amount of all-over-face application, to pack a punch against blemishes. The result? A lightweight, fast-absorbing serum at an effective dosage.

MRP: Rs.1595/- for 50ml

Ingredients:

This comes in a big glass bottle with a dropper. The bottle is transparent but has a green tint.

The formula of this daily solution is very light, it feels exactly like water. It is runny and you need one pump i.e. about 8-9 drops for using all over the face. It has a strong tea tree smell.

Tea tree oil is a little concentrated and should be used only on acne and diluted with another base oil or water, if you have sensitive skin. This daily solution is already diluted and hence, safe to use all over the face, even for people with sensitive skin.

With time and regular, continuous use, it also helps in fading acne spots. It also has salicylic acid, alfalfa extracts, aloe vera, tocopherol (Vitamin E) along with tea tree oil.

It does not irritate the skin at all. I have not had any major breakouts since the time I am using this. One-two white heads on the nose, which have also settled down, on their own.

If you have always been a fan of the classic tea tree oil from The Body Shop, you will love this too! It may seem a little expensive, but the quantity offered is a lot. Especially for the Daily Solution, it is 50ml and you need 8-10 drops per use.

The main ingredient of this entire range i.e. tea tree is being sourced from Kenya, helping the farmers there and enriching their lives. As always, The Body Shop does it’s bit.

Also they have a special game created for this range ‘Battle of the Blemishes’, you can play it HERE. You can unlock special offers from The Body Shop clearing each level!

I recommend both these products for oily, acne prone skin. These are perfect additions to the Tea Tree Range.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream, Essence Lotion Review

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Sleeping Cream, Essence Lotion Review

Hi guys,

I had reviewed The Body Shop Oils of Life Revitalizing Facial Oil last year HERE. And I have often mentioned it on my Snapchat and my monthly favourites on YouTube! It is my absolute favourite!

I tried two other products from this same range including the recent addition, the ‘Sleeping Cream’. Here are my thoughts on them..

I use the Body Shop Oils of Life Essence Lotion at first, followed by 2-3 drops of the Facial Oil and the Sleeping Cream at the end. I have been following this regime every night since the past month.

The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion

Claims: Enjoy a highly-sensorial experience, with its bi-phase (oil + water) formula, this Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion supremely combines the freshness of water and the nourishing feel of oil. Our Essence Lotion has a lightweight refreshing texture that glides onto skin and leaves a pleasurable soft touch finish without a greasy feel. Our Essence Lotion provides instant visible results while preparing and activating skin for the next steps of your routine.

MRP: Rs.1895 for 160ml

Ingredients:

It’s a bi-phase oil and water formula and needs to be shaken well before use. It comes in a long, sleek plastic bottle and the dispensor dispenses quite a few drops. You can use it either on a cotton pad or directly with your hands, I have tried both.

It feels just like water and the oil content cannot be felt, it is very light weight and has a refreshing smell. It gets absorbed in a few seconds and it is meant to prep and activate the skin for the next step.

I was quite excited to try this out as I have never tried a oil + water essence before, but unfortunately it was giving me small whiteheads all around and on my nose. I was using this on and off and didn’t realize it was only this product. I was still figuring out what was causing the break outs and I gave my skin a break for few days and stopped using anything. Again after few days when I started using this, I got those whiteheads.

A few days ago Shalini from Be Beautilicious reviewed this product and she mentioned that this essence lotion was giving her whiteheads and I was like OMG, it is this! I finally realized it was this product that was causing those whiteheads thanks to Shalini.

I stopped using it then and now I only use the oil and sleeping cream. Though I feel I can use this on the other parts of my face avoiding the nose, I will try to use this again.

The Body Shop Oils of Life Sleeping Cream

Claims:  A night time cream, to moisturise, revitalise and nourish the skin whilst you sleep. Skin looks and feels:

– Revitalised
– More supple
– Nourished
– Visibly Rested
– Reduced appearance of ageing

MRP: Rs.2495/- for 80ml

Ingredients:

It comes in a heavy glass jar and has the same golden yellow tint outer see through packaging with the black cap. It has a white separator on the top, but I usually just slid it on top so that I don’t have to lift it each time.

The cream is light yellow in color and has the same smell as the oil, I love the smell! Though the cream is a blend of oils and has the same three blend of black cumin, rosehip and camellia (along with other oils too), it is aqua based and very light in texture. It does not feel greasy or heavy or leaves no sticky residue on the skin. It gets absorbed immediately.

I love my skin the next morning, it leaves the skin soft, supple, nourished and rested, exactly as it claims! This sleeping cream will work for all skin types as it balances the oiliness and dryness perfectly and leave the skin hydrated and moisturized from within.

How I use it: I remove my makeup and wash my face with a face wash. I use the facial oil and follow it up with the sleeping cream. I also used the essence lotion earlier before the facial oil. But since the essence was breaking me out, I only used these two.

I love it and highly recommend it! Both the facial oil and the sleeping cream, I have already recommended the facial oil to so many people and this sleeping cream is the perfect addition to it! Though it is slightly on the expensive side, it will last you for a long time! I still have 50% of my facial oil remaining and I have been using it since last year!

I would not recommend the essence lotion if you have acne prone or sensitive skin or break out easily. I will still give that a try again avoiding my T zone, but the other two products are must haves!

What the Company claims: A lightweight, yet nourishing day cream clinically proven to significantly reduce the number, size and intensity of dark spots.

– Provides hydration, for softer, smoother skin
– Instantly, skin texture feels smoother, softer and re-plumped with moisture

The facial foam is a rich, creamy face wash. I do not generally prefer foam based face washes as they do tend to dry out my skin. But since I use this range in conjunction and follow it up with the serum and day cream, the face wash seems fine. It does cleanses thoroughly though, ideal for oily skin.

The serum comes in a white tinted bottle with a dropper and is water like in texture. It is very light weight and gets absorbed easily, you just need 2-3 drops of it. This bottle will last quite a few months.

The day cream is gel like in texture and water based. It is very hydrating and moisturizing. It does feel a bit sticky though and takes time to settle down.

L-R: Cream, Serum, Face Wash

Entire range has red algae, Vitamin C and glycerine. It is very good for pigmented and uneven skin. Vitamin C takes time to show result but with regular use twice a day, it will fade all your acne scars and even out your skin tone to a great extent.

Since the cream has glycerine and is a bit sticky on application, I would not suggest it for very oily skin as they may not like the texture of it. Also this makes it ideal as a primer and it keeps makeup in place all day long. You can skip a primer when you are using this cream.

Overall, this range will work great on uneven or pigmented skin or for people who have acne scars, etc. If you have to pick only one product from this range, I would definitely suggest the serum. At this price, there are not many Vitamin C serums available in the market and this does the job quite well.

The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel, Body Scrub Review

The Body Shop British Rose Shower Gel, Body Scrub Review

Hi guys,

MRP: Rs.450/- for 250ml

First of, I love the entire light pink and black packaging of this range. It looks fabulous, plus the British Rose range is so delicate and fresh.

The body scrub comes in a black tub plastic packaging. It is a gel based scrub just like the Virgin Mojito and Fuji Green Tea Ranges. It has soft brown beads for exfoliation which are walnut shell powder, as per the ingredients. And the base is water based and jelly like with a soft pink tint. The smell is amazing, not at all strong, but feminine and soft.

The scrub particles are not harsh and it leaves the skin gently exfoliated. If you expect hard core exfoliation, then this alone won’t do. I would suggest you use this body scrub with The Body Shop Exfoliating Gloves.

The shower gel comes in a transparent bottle with black flip cap. The bottle is plastic and not heavy. The shower gel is thin and runny and has a light pink tint. I absolutely love the smell of this, this smells more of ‘British Rose’ than the body scrub too. It foams well and washes off well, without leaving the skin dry.

I tried using it without loofah and you end up using a lot and it won’t foam enough. So I suggest using it only with a loofah.

This range also has a Bath Foam (if you have a bath tub at home), Body Butter, Hand Cream, Exfoliating Soap and EDT. EDT sadly was out of stock everywhere. I am definitely looking forward to try the EDT once I get my hands on it.

Overall, I would say, I absolutely love the fresh British Rose smell and this range. It is not at all strong or artificial like usual rose scented products are. You can smell the difference in the first whiff. It is soft, feminine and delicate but refreshing. Although the smell doesn’t stay for long with 1-2 products, it would if you use 3-4 products from the range together i.e. along with the body butter and EDT. Highly recommend this range!

The Body Shop Japanese Camellia Cream, French Lavender Massage Oil Review

The Body Shop Japanese Camellia Cream, French Lavender Massage Oil Review

Hi guys,

Today I am reviewing two products from The Body Shop’s new Spa Of The World Range. The French Lavender Massage Oil I have been using since quite some time now and the Japanese Camellia Cream I have been using since about 2 weeks.

Both of these products are from the Relaxing Ritual which has 3 more products,a total of 5, i.e. African Ximenia Scrub, Himalayan Charcoal Body Clay and Egyptian Milk & Honey Bath. And there are two other rituals i.e. Revitalizing and Blissful which have different body massage oils and scrubs and 3 products each in that range.

Starting with the Camellia Cream,

What the Company claims: Camellia oil has been used by Japanese women since the 8th century to gently soften and moisturise skin. The exquisite scent of this pure and elegant flower allows mind and body to reconnect with a moment of profound peace. Use this rich body cream with a light, velvety texture as part of our relaxing ritual when you’re in need of a fast-track to tranquillity.

– Velvet moisture body cream
– Makes skin feel beautifully hydrated and delicately scented
– Relaxes body and mind

How to use: Smooth on from décolletage to toes until fully absorbed. Expert tip: “Before applying Spa of the World™ Japanese Camellia Cream, warm hands under running water, take a bit of the cream and massage your hands together to warm the cream. Japanese Camellia Cream is ideal to use every day as a body moisturiser.”

MRP: Rs.2995/- for 350ml

Ingredients:

When I saw the tub, I was surprised, coz it’s huge! Super huge! But it’s made of plastic and quite light weight, also there is a thin transparent layer in between so it looks bigger than it actually is. Entire Spa of the World range come in this brown and black packaging. And all bottles and tubs are plastic, more convenient for oils as the bottles may break easily.

I don’t generally like body butters unless they are quite light weight like the Fuji Green Tea one was. This looked quite rich to me when I first opened the tub and saw it. And as soon as I dipped my finger in it to get the product, I was surprised! This is nothing like a body butter, not at all thick. It’s exactly like whipped cream or mousse. Soft, airy and fluffy. I absolutely loved the texture and as soon as I apply it on the body, it immediately melts in contact with skin and blends super easily. The best part is gets absorbed so quickly that by the time you finish using it all over your body, more than half of it is already absorbed. It feels super light and even in the Mumbai summers, it does not feel sticky or greasy at all.

I love the soft, refreshing smell. I am not sure how Camellia flowers smell but it does have a soft hint of floral. I also like the other ingredients i.e. mango seed oil and shea butter apart from the camellia seed oil.

Skin stays moisturized whole day and no need to re-apply or apply anything else. If you have normal to oily skin or live in humid city, I will definitely suggest getting this one. And if you have dry skin or have harsh winters, the Hawaiian Kukui Cream would work better for you.

It is definitely very pricey but this tub of 350ml will surely last me ages! Not a lot of product comes out when you try to scoop it out since it slips, but then a little goes a long way with this cream, so you don’t even need like huge dollops every time.

And now coming to the French Lavender Oil,

What the Company claims: In the 14th century, King Charles VI of France demanded pillows filled with lavender to soothe him to sleep. Lavender essential oil has a natural relaxing scent which promotes a sense of well-being. Use this calming massage oil as part of our relaxing ritual when you’re in need of a fast-track to tranquillity.

– Relaxing massage oil.
– Soothes body and mind
– With lavender from the south of France.

How to use: Focusing on tense areas, massage onto skin to help relax body and mind. Try using with the Spa of the World™ Thai Wooden Massager to enhance the experience. Expert tip: “Bring this product when you travel, it can work as a body moisturiser and the lavender scent will help you relax before you sleep.”

MRP: Rs.1695/- for 170ml

Ingredients:

The body massage oils come in this small round bottles with a black cap. The dispensing hole is not too huge nor too tiny and dispenses the perfect quantity of oil required at one go.

I absolutely love lavender and if I have to ever pick only one scent for ever, I will go with lavender. Also lavender oil is very relaxing and calming and will also solve insomnia issue. I can’t generally sleep on time, I would lying on my bed for hours but can never sleep early. That’s when I make sure I use this oil.

It has a base of sweet almond oil and sesame oil with jojoba, lavender and few other essential oils combined. I love sweet almond and sesame oils as base coz they are very light and get absorbed quickly. Where as olive or coconut are quite on the heavy side.

Since the ingredients are all oils, you can even use this on your face i.e. if you use oils on your face. I do and sometimes just blend the leftover on my face post using it on the body.

I use it post shower or before sleeping or anytime I feel like. Absolutely love the relaxing lavender scent and how light weight the oil is. The two other massage oils in the Spa of the World Range are Tahitian Orchid and Thai Lemongrass. Where as the Tahitan Orchid is blended with ylang ylang and patchouli and would be quite strong, Thai Lemongrass one is good for body massages, if you get them done at home. But for normal day to day use, if I have to suggest you one, I would say the French Lavender one.

Even the oils are on the little pricier side, but then again it’s 170ml than usual 100ml. I would have loved if The Body Shop had come with smaller variants and pricing too. And that would have been travel friendly versions too, coz these definitely aren’t.

Overall I love both the products and they are absolutely amazing, definitely on the pricey side, but quality super! No doubts about that, the Spa Of The World range is out in the stores now and also available online on The Body Shop India website.
