Tips for Flawless, Clear skin

Tips for Flawless, Clear skin

We all suffer from bad skin days from time to time, but there are many tips and tricks you can use to get perfect skin naturally. To make spots and blemishes a thing of the past, check out these seven tips for clear skin.

Clear skin tip 1: Ditch the chemicals

It can be tempting to reach for chemical peels and ingredients such as salicylic acid to help clear up problem skin. However, many chemical-based skin products not only contain potentially harmful ingredients, they can also excessively dry out skin and exacerbate skin problems. For a gentler approach to fighting acne, opt for natural spot-fighting ingredients such as tea tree oil or manuka honey. Manuka honey not only has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties to fight spots, it also has the benefit of being able to reduce the scarring and marks left by spots.

Clear skin tip 2: Use spot-fighting makeup

We all know what it’s like to have a bad skin day when you just want to hide away under layers of makeup. However, while makeup can temporarily disguise the look of spots, it can also make the problem much worse. For confidence-boosting coverage that won’t cause flare-ups, make sure you opt for non-comedogenic makeup that won’t clog pores. To further increase the spot-fighting powers of your cosmetics, try using mineral makeup containing zinc oxide, which will fight against acne-causing bacteria.

Clear skin tip 3: Sip spearmint tea

Acne is generally caused by hormones called androgens, which can over-stimulate the sebaceous glands leading to oily skin, blocked pores and spots. To counteract these effects, oral contraceptives are often prescribed to women suffering from acne. However, while beneficial for clearing spots, these contraceptive pills can have inconvenient and even dangerous side effects. Luckily, research suggests that spearmint tea has similar anti-androgen properties, which could help reduce acne and hormone imbalances in women.

Clear skin tip 4: Reduce your skin’s contact to bacteria

You may be surprised at how often your skin comes into contact with dirt and germs that can lead to acne. During the time you are asleep, your pillow comes into contact with makeup, skin oils and saliva, making it a breeding ground for bacteria that can worsen acne. Likewise, unwashed makeup brushes can spread bacteria to your skin. To minimise your skin’s contact to bacteria, make sure you wash makeup brushes every two weeks and change your pillowcase regularly. Also, avoid touching your face as much as possible and clean your phone with antibacterial wipes before making calls.

Clear skin tip 5: Cleanse your skin properly

If you suffer from oily or acne-prone skin it can be tempting to over-cleanse your skin to dry out oils and kill bacteria. However, cleansing your skin too frequently or using harsh cleansers can dry out your skin, causing flakiness which can clog pores. It can also cause your skin to produce more oils to compensate. Instead, wash your skin twice a day with a gentle, PH-neutral cleanser so as not to destroy the acid mantle of the skin, which protects against moisture loss and bacteria. Remove the cleanser with a muslin cloth to lightly exfoliate the skin.

Clear skin tip 6: Change your diet

Eating a balanced diet with plenty of nutrients and antioxidants is one of the key factors behind beautiful looking skin. However, there are also certain foods you can cut back on or eat more of in order to help get rid of spots. Research suggests that dairy is a major precursor of acne for many people due to the hormones it contains. Plastic water bottles and food packaging can also leach out chemicals which can lead to hormone imbalance. Swap packaged foods for fresh, skin-friendly produce including lots of fruit and vegetables and foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids.

Clear skin tip 7: Find ways to deal with stress

Research findings published in the journal Archives of Dermatology suggest that high stress levels can significantly worsen acne. It is thought that this may be due to the fact that stress stimulates the production of hormones which stimulate oil production in the skin’s sebaceous glands. Stress is also thought to instigate the release of chemicals which can lead to inflammation. To help keep your skin clear and spot-free, try to find healthy ways to deal with stress such as exercise, meditation or pampering. Try to talk through problems with someone else as well to help relieve any worries.

I agree with them all..especially 4 and 5..

Jennifer Aniston’s Beauty Secrets

Jennifer Aniston’s Beauty Secrets
Jennifer Aniston revealed some of her top skincare secrets in a recent interview, and we’re surprised to hear how beautifully basic they are!

Though eternally sporting a youthful golden glow, Jen confessed that her most effective wrinkle-fighting regime consists of little more than ice water and Vaseline.

Rather than splashing out on fancy creams, Jen apparently prefers to dab some of the classic jelly below her eyes before bed instead.

Then to keep her skin firm and pores under control, the Friends actress is said to dunk her face into a sink full of cold water and ice cubes. Eeish!

While we get the idea – the cold water reduces puffiness, tightens up skin and shrinks pores – an icy dip first thing in the morning sounds a bit intense.

Skin Care

· Good and effective cleansing using a soap free cleanser is recommended. You could also use a gentle scrub (with uniform mild beads) once a day

· Cleansing should be followed by toning using an alcohol free toner, since increased humidity could open up your pores

· Use a sunscreen even on cloudy days

· Use a light lotion-based moisturizer or serum which will gently rehydrate your skin and also brighten it up

· Avoid heavy makeup and use waterproof make up when necessary

· Remember to nourish your skin from the inside too – eat salads blanched in boiling water to disinfect them, vegetable soup which will keep you warm and healthy and drink the usual 8-10 glasses of water. Your skin is always thirstier than you are!

Foot Care

· Effective cleansing of feet is very important as they would be exposed to lot of grime and muck

· Do not forget to completely dry your feet so as to prevent fungal infections

· Avoid wearing boots as these would hold water for a longer duration, creating a soggy environment for your feet

· A home pedicure should be done once a week. This would consist of soaking feet in warm water to which you can add 3-4 drops of Savlon, for 15-20 minutes, followed by cleansing your nails and scrubbing your feet with a foot scraper. Complete the pedicure by applying a light moisturizer

· When you go for pedicure, ensure that the instruments used are sterilized/ cleansed with disinfectants, or if possible use your personal instruments. Also instruct your aesthetician to avoid pushing the cuticles as toe nail fungal infections are very common in monsoons

Hair Care

· Good and effective cleansing using a volumising shampoo twice or thrice a week is highly recommended as hair tends to go limp in this season

· Conditioning your hair becomes twice as important during this season. Don’t shun it if you have sticky hair, instead opt for a light conditioner that is suited for limp, oily hair

· Keep the scalp dry to avoid scalp conditions like fungal and bacterial infections, which are more prevalent during the monsoon

· If you need to blow dry your hair, apply a leave-on conditioner prior to it

· Go easy on styling during this season. Excessive use of hair gels and sprays will only cause further damage

· Take time off from your busy schedule and book yourself a hair spa therapy appointment

· Oiling once a week would help but make sure you wash your hair well as residue oil can attract dust and grime, which along with sweat, can cause dandruff and even scalp infections

· Keep your hair trimmed and short during the season

· Food for hair – milk and milk products, nuts, soya products

While following these tips, one should also adhere to the below mentioned daily skincare regime to keep sparkling this season:

Monsoon skincare regime

PRODUCTS SUITABLE DURING MONSOON…

RECOMMENDED BY KAYA SKIN CLINIC:

· Kaya Revitalizing Tonic

· Kaya Foot Care Cream

· Kaya Soothing Cleansing Gel

· Kaya Daily Use Sunscreen with SPF 15

· Nourishing Shampoo

· Insta Brightening Micro Mask

· Purifying range for acne prone skin (cleanser, toner and moisturizer)

It is possible to enjoy healthy, glowing skin without a high-maintenance routine. Here are some rules that we should try and adhere to.

· Cleansing
Washing the impurities away from your skin allows it to breathe. To protect the skin’s natural oils, avoid anti-fungal and perfumed soaps. Instead use a non-soapy cleanser that ensures deep pore cleansing

· Toning
This helps to tighten the pores and prevent pimples. A non-alcoholic toner incorporated into your basic cleansing regime every morning and before going to bed will prevent skin infections and eruptions

· Moisturizing
People who spend a lot of their time in an air-conditioned environment need to keep their skin moisturized. However, those with oily skin should do so only twice every day. Their skin’s natural oils will keep it hydrated

· Don’t rub your face while drying it

The facial skin is very delicate so rubbing it with a towel can cause hyper-pigmentation. Gently pat it dry, avoid any kind of friction

· Don’t step out without sunscreen protection

As long as there is daylight, our skin needs protection from UVA and UVB rays. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you step out and re-apply every three to four hours

· Regular Maintenance
For glowing blemish free skin, adhere to your skin treatments like facials, cleanups, skin polishing, peels, etc, as suggested by your dermatologist. In fact the monsoon season is area very good time to do peels and lasers, as post care is much less due to the absence of direct sun rays

Tricks for that Perfect Pout

Tricks for that Perfect Pout

Nothing is more irresistible than a kiss-perfect pout and with this season’s trend for eye-popping lip colour you want yours to be in tip-top condition. Ever wondered how these celebrities keep their pouts in top condition? Check out these expert tips:

From citric orange to candy pink, anything goes in the brightly hued style stakes, so a smooth and hydrated kisser is a must.

But sometimes a busy lifestyle or dietary slip-up can leave you with dry, chapped lips just when you need to look your picture-perfect best – but fear not, because with the following genius tricks of the beauty trade your pout will be nothing less than kissable in next to no time.

“Apply a small amount of acetone (nail-polish remover) on a cotton bud and run across your lips. This will instantly remove any flaky, dry skin. Follow with a water-soaked cotton bud and add lip balm afterwards to condition,” Max Factor UK ambassador Caroline Barnes told the July edition of Elle magazine.

For a subtly plumped effect, raid your kitchen cupboard for a natural remedy.

You don’t have to resort to drastic measures to achieve that bee-stung look, as make-up artist Florrie White revealed, places offering fish pedicures are popping up around the world. Literally, you dip your feet into a vat of fish and “relax” as they dine to their heart’s content nibbling off all of the dead skin. As if a celeb trying this isn’t bad enough (we’re talking to you, Jessica Simpson), Angelina Jolie told Vanity Fair last year that she sent her young sons for this bizarre foot-bath.

“A drop of peppermint oil dabbed onto the centre of lips will create a fuller pout instantly. It’s a gentle alternative to stinging lip plumbers. Follow with clear gloss,” she said.

And if you find you have run out of your favourite lipstick shade just as you’re about to dash off, the answer could be hiding in your fridge.

Try crushed-up raspberries for a luxe, rich colour that lasts. Just press the liquid onto lips for a natural flush,” Burberry Beauty artistic consultant Wendy Rowe recommended.

I never knew about the acetone tip..would surely try it out..I hope you liked these tips..

Hair Tricks that Make You Look 7 Years Younger

Hair Tricks that Make You Look 7 Years Younger Sometimes its our hairstyle that makes us look more mature for our age..we need to get a cut that takes the ages off..here are few tips to exactly do that..

BE A BANGS PERSON

Reese Witherspoon

If you’ve never had them, know that bangs work Botox-like wonders in disguising forehead wrinkles. “They also make your hair appear fuller, which helps deflect from thinning,” says celebrity hairstylist Ric Pipino, who works with Elle Macpherson and Fergie. His advice? Go big or go home: “Thick, softly beveled bangs are the most girlish,” he says. If that sounds too rock ‘n’ roll, try a long, sideswept fringe, which creates pretty movement and also erases years.

SHAKE UP YOUR CUT

Penelope Cruz

We’re shouting it from salon rooftops: The difference between a haircut that’s aging and one that’s age-defying comes down to layers. “Without them, hair doesn’t move–and nothing makes you seem older than stiff hair,” says hairstylist Juan Carlos Maciques of the Rita Hazan Salon in New York City, who works with Jennifer Lopez. “No matter what your length, you want delicate layers throughout and face-framing pieces. This creates lush, healthy-looking hair, which softens your entire appearance.” (Blunt cuts, on the other hand, can catapult you a decade, à la Callista Gingrich.) And we’re setting the record straight on length: You don’t have to abandon long hair for a short, so-called sensible ‘do when you hit 40. “Just get regular trims so your hair maintains that healthy look,” Maciques says.

EMBRACE YOUR TEXTURE

Halle Berry

If you have kinky or African-American hair and wear it natural, “a cut that’s shoulder-length or shorter is the most youthful–any longer, and your hair starts to balloon around your head, which piles on the years,” says hairstylist Tippi Shorter, whose clients include Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige. This hair type also needs a serious wallop of moisture to prevent it from getting dry and brittle (an instant ager). For this, use a curl-enhancing product, says Shorter, whose fave brand is Kinky-Curly. “It’s an ethnic hair-care line with different curl enhancers, from a lightweight serum to a rich cream, so there’s something for every type of curl.”

YOUTH-IFY YOUR PONYTAIL

Add caption

Slicked-back styles put every pore and fine line on full display. Instead, use your fingers to rake your hair back into a ponytail or bun, which creates soft ripples and a slightly fuzzy finish that’s relaxed and sexy. “It’s okay if it’s a little messy–that’s what makes it young,” Pipino says.

GET YOUR SHINE ON

Octavia Spencer

As every Disney heroine reminds us, glossy hair is a symbol of youth and vitality (anthropologists, incidentally, agree). An at-home glaze like John Frieda Clear Shine Luminous Glaze, $9.99, restores sheen with nourishing oils and works on all hair types, including ethnic. Apply it once a month to wet, freshly shampooed hair; wait five minutes, then rinse and follow with conditioner.

STAY TO ONE SIDE

Julianne Moore

Unless you’re going for that Maria Callas, super-diva vibe, “a center part can make you look severe,” Maciques says. His softening tip: Shift your part to the side and make it slightly zigzaggy, which creates an effortless look that (bonus!) hides grays and roots.

How To Get Rid of a Tan ?

How To Get Rid of a Tan ?
It is common for the hands and the legs to become darker than most of the body parts, this is because they are overexposed to sun rays in daily life. It may be unappealing if only the hands and legs are tanned, leaving rest of the body in lighter shade. The best way is to avoid getting tanned in the first place, by taking preventive measures…like wearing covered clothes and proper sunscreen, etc..UV radiation from sun rays and tanning beds increase the production of melanin (a skin pigment). As a result the skin gets tanned. Even though there is no safe method to lighten the skin cells that are tanned, you can surely boost the renewal process of skin cells that are beneath the layer of tanned skin cells.
Source

There are after sun products too..which can be used immediately after coming from outside..they have anti tan skin soothing ingredients..that might control the tan to a certain extent..

But do not worry; even if it is too late, here are some of the remedies that can give an even complexion with a glowing skin.

Make a paste of one almond, 5 drops of lemon and a teaspoon of milk. Apply on face and leave it on overnight and wash with warm water the next morning. This helps even out complexion and will give you a healthy summer glow! You could also try coconut milk. Leave this too on all night. If you breakout often, then rub on tomato juice all over your face and leave for ten minutes. Do this a few times during the week to get rid of tan.

Potato: one of the natural remedy to remove tan from the hands and legs is use of peeled potato skin. Simply rub the peeled skin of potato on the tanned area of hands and legs as a daily routine. You can also apply raw potato juice instead of peeled skin.

A paste made from turmeric powder, curd and gram flour is effective in changing the darker complexion after tanning. Mix a pinch of turmeric powder with two teaspoon of curd and two teaspoon of gram flour. Add one to two teaspoon of water and prepare a paste. Now apply it on your hands and legs half hour before you take bath. Do it regularly and you can see the difference within a week.

Lime juice is a natural beach. Prepare a mixture of lime juice and honey with a pinch of turmeric powder perfectly dissolved in it. Apply it on the darkened hands and legs.

Raw milk: apply milk on the tanned area of your hand regularly. You should apply it half hour before bathing. Slowly but surely, after few days the tanned skin surface of hands will fade out.

Aloe vera gel: Apply aloe vera gel on your hands at least two to three times in a day.

A popular natural remedy for removing tanning is the use of sunflower oil, lemon juice and sugar. Mix all the products equally to make a smooth paste. Apply the paste on your hands and let it remain for 30 minutes before you rinse it off with cold water.

Make fine powder of dried orange peels. Now mix it in a cup of yogurt. Apply the prepared mixture on the hands and rub it gently with your hands. Let it remain for 10 to 20 minutes, after which you wash your hands with normal tap water. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel.

Mix salt (or sugar) and essential oil in a small bowl. Now add a teaspoon of honey and blend till you get a smooth texture. Finally add lemon juice and blend with spoon. Use this scrub with special concentration on the darkest areas of the face. Gently scrub in circular motion to exfoliate the top layer of the skin. Do this twice a week to remove tan from the face.

Mix gram flour with water and rub it all over your skin. When you wash it off, tan gets lightened.

Another way to remove sun tan from face is to apply curd as a face pack.

Lemon Glycerine Pack: Mix glycerine and lemon juice in equal ratio. Apply the mixture on the affected area and wash when it dries. This mixture can also be used as night cream to remove tan and get supple skin

Sandal Wood Turmeric Pack: Sandalwood and turmeric are essential part of many beauty enhancement treatments which includes the treatment for removing sun tan. Mix sandal wood and pure turmeric powder in a ration of 1:1. Add rose water to form a paste. Leave for half an hour or till it is dry and the wash using cold water.

Prepare a mixture of oats and buttermilk. This mixture should be rubbed onto the tanned area as the oats will help in exfoliating the skin and on the other hand the butter milk is known to be extremely soothing for the skin.

A regular use of fresh coconut water on the hands and face is known to be very effective in getting rid of a tan as well as making the skin supple and soft.

A cream with equal parts of milk powder, lemon juice, honey and almond oil can be applied and left on for 20 minutes. This will help lighten your tan. You can store this for about a week and use it thrice daily for best results.

Mash the papaya pulp and massage the sun tanned area. Papaya is excellent for the skin and also helps in anti-aging.

Combining ash gourd juice (Petha or Safed Kaddu as it is called) with multan mitti and applying it all over the face helps reduce the tan considerably.

Nature’s Essence Lacto Tan Clear Soap and Mask are also very helpful to get rid of tan.

So here I gave you so many at home remedies to get rid of your tan…enjoy the summers but use a sunscreen..and if you get tanned then use these remedies 😉

Five habits people with lucky skin share

Five habits people with lucky skin share

Are women with naturally beautiful skin just plain lucky? We spill the beans.

Five habits people with good skin share:

Habit #1: They never go to bed with makeup on

After a long, tiring night, it may be the last thing you’d want to do – wash your face. But by now we all know that leaving makeup on can be disastrous for your skin. It clogs your skin’s pores, trapping the oil, leading to dead cell accumulation and even breakouts. Worse, leaving eye makeup on can result in you waking up with itchy, red eyes. So no matter how tired you are, walk up to the sink and wash it off.

We suggest you pour some baby oil onto a cotton ball and remove eye-makeup and then just wash your face with a good face-wash. This is less cumbersome in comparison to using a cleansing lotion. Do this only on nights that you are very tired. Otherwise go the elaborate way, as it removes any trace of leftover makeup.

Habit #2: They wear sunscreen everyday

The sun’s harmful rays are known to be a major cause for skin damage; even causing early ageing. So this is definitely one thing you mustn’t skip before heading out during the day. Experts recommend using a sunscreen with SPF 30 at least in combination with a moisturiser. Even oily skin needs external moisture application. But choose one that isn’t too heavy.

Habit #3: They keep their hands off their faces

Many people can’t seem to keep their hands off their faces. This is one nasty habit. By doing this, you’re transferring all the bacteria from your dirty hands — that have touched all things under the sun — onto your face. And now we know why your skin has been breaking out.

Keep your hands strictly off your face. Don’t touch it unnecessarily, when you have to use clean hands.

Habit #4: They get their beauty sleep

When one doesn’t get adequate zzzz time, it shows on the skin. All those lucky women who have glowing, radiant skin never skimp on their sleep. Sleep time is when your skin repairs itself, if you take that away from it – your skin is likely to look haggard.

So get at least 8 hours of sleep a day. Unless you’re doing that you are missing out on the last burst of growth hormone that is released during the last stage of sleep. This growth hormone is known to play a key role in carrying blood to the skin’s surface, which oxygenates the skin and improves its overall appearance.

Habit #5: They don’t overdo it

This one is of utmost import. The best skincare regimes are those that are done in balance. By this we mean, not overdoing them in your hunt for perfect skin. Over cleansing, over moisturising and over medicating the skin upsets the balance. For example, you’re having breakouts, and so you try using a host of products that control oil secretion. When you do this, you end up over-drying your skin, and this puts the sebaceous glands in your skin on alert, and they begin to produce more oil, resulting in more breakouts.

So wash your face two times a day. Moisturise it and apply sunscreen in the morning. At night, make sure you remove all makeup and apply a night cream that suits you. Get facials once a month or perhaps every 15 days if you think your skin needs one. But don not over do any skincare regime.

44 Timeless Beauty Tips

44 Timeless Beauty Tips
This is a must read,44 beauty tips all together at one place. Even though you may be knowing some of them, does not hurt to know a few extra ;)Look your radiant best with these head-to-toe tips collected from our past 75 years of beauty issues.

Gorgeous Hair

1 | Camouflage roots by zigzagging your part rather than making it straight.

2 | Brush hair from roots to ends nightly. This distributes natural oils throughout the shaft and gives hair a healthy sheen.

3 | Be direct when telling your hairstylist what you want, and bring photos from magazines of styles you like.

4 | Doing your hair color yourself? Don’t make too drastic a change. Stay within one or two shades of your natural color.

5 | Comb wet hair like the pros: Hold a handful at a time and work from center to ends, then scalp to center.

Beautiful Brows

6 | Soften skin before tweezing by dabbing with a cotton ball soaked in warm water or cream.

7 | Tweeze in the direction the hair grows.

8 | Don’t change the place where your brows peak and never pencil the whole brow. Instead, only fill in holes.

9 | Use only the side of a sharpened brow pencil—not the pointed tip—so as not to draw a hard line.

10 | For unruly brows, apply hairspray to an old toothbrush, then brush brows upward and outward.

Bright Eyes

11 | Treat your eye area gently. This is the most delicate part of your face. Cleanse with care; blot, never rub.

12 | Reduce puffy eyes by splashing with cold water or applying a cold compress (ice cubes in a washcloth): 15 seconds on, 15 seconds off.

13 | When you put on mascara, don’t lower your chin—that’s how mascara gets on your lid.

14 | Get eyeshadow to stay in place by priming lids with moisturizer and foundation.

15 | Always use your ring finger to apply moisturizer or concealer to the eye area. It puts the least amount of pressure on the skin.

Pretty Face

16 | Don’t touch your face unnecessarily. Breakouts can be caused by your own fingers.

17 | Apply cream or cleanser by lightly pressing upward—never down. The delicate skin sags easily enough in time.

18 | For the best color match, test foundation and powder either on your face or neck (the inside of your wrist is too pale)

19 | Use foundation, not concealer (which is lighter than your skin color), to cover up redness or blemishes

20 | Rouge should be well-blended far out on the cheekbone; circles of rouge don’t look good on anyone.

Lovely Lips

21 | Get lips soft and smooth by using a damp, warm washcloth at night to rub off the flaky dry bits; follow with a coat of lip balm

22 | Ease the evening switch to a redder or darker lipstick by applying it over and blending it into your daytime color

23 | To make lipstick last longer, allow it to set for a few minutes after applying, blot lips with tissue and dust them with powder, then apply another coat

24 | Cheeks feeling flushed? Put on a bold color lipstick; a neutral shade will only make red cheeks stand out

25 | For lipliner that glides on, warm it up first by pinching it with your fingertips

Glowing Skin

26 | The best time to apply lotion is right after a shower or bath, when skin is still damp.

27 | When drawing a bath, scatter bubbles or crystals directly under the faucet before turning on the water, but drop in perfume oil while the tub is filling

28 | Beautiful skin starts from within. Include lots of vegetables, fruit and water in your diet

29 | Overdo it with your perfume? Dab rubbing alcohol with a cotton ball on your skin. The alcohol will cut the scent without altering it.

30 | Microwave lotion for 5 seconds to soothe dry winter skin.

Smooth Legs

31 | Improve circulation in your legs and lower the risk of unsightly veins by elevating your feet when resting

32 | Wait until after your shower to shave. The steam softens hairs for smoother results.

33 | Don’t use creams that contain heavy fragrance or alpha hydroxy acids on freshly shaven legs. They’ll sting and cause a rash.

34 | When applying “liquid stockings” [or today’s self-tanner], don’t forget the back of your knees, which are often missed.

35 | Waxing your legs? Pull skin taut before applying the wax to make it easier to remove the strip in one clean motion. Remove leftover wax with a cotton ball dipped in baby oil.

Model-Like Hands

36 | Shape nails with an emery board, filing sides toward center—never straight across—and rounding off edges

37 | What works for your face works for your hands. Remove age spots with facial brightening cream

38 | The fast way to remove nail polish: Hold cotton saturated with polish remover firmly on your nail for a few seconds to let it start working, then wipe nail clean.

39 | Apply polish starting at the pinky, working toward the thumb to avoid dragging your hand across wet nails.

Happy Feet

40 | To counteract dryness, massage feet with a lanolin-based lotion, kneading it deeply into your instep, then massage soles, heels, top surface and around nails.

41 | Before using a pumice stone or foot file to remove a callus, be sure to soak your foot in warm water for at least 5 minutes. Follow with a little foot cream.

42 | To prevent ingrown nails, trim toenails straight across, not down into the corners.

43 | Relieve swollen feet by soaking them alternately in hot water (for 3 minutes), then cold water (for 1 minute), for a total of 15 minutes.

44 | Use fresh pineapple or kiwi skins, which contain bromelain (a meat tenderizer), to exfoliate heels. Rub the fleshy part over heels for 5 minutes, then rinse, dry and moisturize.

Loved the tips, using ring finger for eye creams and products and moisturiser on damp skin is truly beneficial. And warming eyeliners and lipliners between fingers certainly helps in gliding smoothly.I am surely trying 43 the next time 😉

How to Get an Even Complexion

Many supermodels swear by using lemon juice to even their complexion. Lemon juice is a natural cleanser and disinfectant. Lemon is also known as a natural lightener, and will lighten any dark spots on your face to create a more even skin tone. To do this simply squeeze the juice from a lemon, apply the juice to the face with a cotton ball, wait about 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water.

How to Get Strong Shiny Hair

Using coconut oil as a hair treatment is very popular in the modeling industry. Coconut oil supplies the scalp and hair with moisture as well as vitamins and protein to make it stronger. To use coconut oil as a hair treatment, simply apply the oil to the hair from the roots to the ends. Massage the scalp for about a minute, and leave the oil in the hair for one hour. After one hour massage the scalp again, then shampoo well, condition the hair, and style as usual.

Keep Makeup Brushes Clean

One of the most common beauty mistakes is not cleaning your makeup brushes. When your makeup brushes are not cleaned regularly they build up bacteria, and this can mean trouble for your face. One tip on this comes from Linda Vojtova, “I wash all my makeup brushes with baby shampoo. It keeps them clean, and the brushes last longer”.

The Importance of Moisture

Moisture is important in every part of the body. Make sure you are staying well hydrated as this will help keep your skin soft and dewy. If you are lacking moisture and want some fast results try using Vitamin E oil. Just take a capsule of Vitamin E pierce the side, squeeze out the oil, and apply to the face, this can be used on the lips as well. You will see results almost instantly. Vitamin E oil is great for the skin, and will make your skin glow. Many supermodels also believe in hydrating the skin from the inside out and recommend drinking coconut water, coconut water is high in potassium and contains antioxidants and is naturally rich in electrolytes.

Some other secrets:

  • Cool slices of cucumber laid upon closed eyes for 10 minutes prior to foundation applications also works wonders.
  • Super model beauty tips advise on the use of Epsom salts to soften the skin and also as an exfoliating agent. Fine Epsom Salt mixed with your cleanser will wipe away all traces of make-up and when added to your conditioner and warmed, gives that extra bounce and volume to limp hair.
  • Always powder your T-zone and the lines going from your nose down around your mouth so you don’t look like a bulldog. When those areas are shiny, it’s awful.
  • If you’re wearing smoky eye makeup, a little beige or gold pencil on the inner eye corners will open up the area, but you only want to do it if the shadow is really dark. Otherwise, light pencil makes your eyes look too far apart, like a fish.
  • Using Nivea cream to remove eye makeup.
  • For an at home Alpha Glycolic Peel, blend the seeds of a Papaya with an all natural sugar free Greek Yogurt and smooth over your face and neck as a mask for 10 minutes.
  • Drink warm water and lemon every morning.
  • Dry body brush everyday before taking a shower to keep your skin smooth all over, and to activate your lymph system.
  • Discover what supplements are right for your body and then take them as directed. Almost everyone needs a supplement to balance his or her busy lifestyle.
  • Every woman should have Organic rosehip oil in her handbag. It’s a product that’s rejuvenating and packed full of natural goodness. Rosehip oil is also a natural way to remove eye makeup.
  • Ever wonder how Kim gets that gorgeous contour on her cheekbones? To contour, the secret to doing it so it’s not in-your-face is to use a darker foundation. Use professional makeup concealer, which has a heavier consistency, and apply it with a brush and blend it with a sponge. Then set it with translucent powder.

I totally Swear by Vitamin E capsule, lemon juice and Tea Tree oil and also white eyeliner on waterline to awaken the eyes..for my hair, I use a blend of oils and not just coconut oil..and yes warm water and lemon every morning is a must !
